"Gotta Catch 'em All"? It's possible.

This is not a capture thread.

Has anyone noticed how Pokemon that aren't in the regional Pokedex have appeared in the Pokemon Anime? Such as Ariados in Sinnoh (Ariados are not in the Sinnoh Pokedex.) The question is do you think the anime version of the regions is different from the one depicted in the games? Why or why not? And I don't mean the badges and stuff, I mean the Pokemon and whatnot, or the geography, whatever. Just have fun with the question.

I realised that regions are much bigger in the anime than in the games, especially if you consider the movie settings as canon. For example, in Jirachi Wish Maker which is set in Hoenn, it takes the gang about 3-4 days to get to Forina in a camper van and in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew which is set in Kanto, it takes about a day or two to drive from Cameron Palace to the Tree of Beginnings. A none movie example would be Johto where it takes about 20 episodes for Ash and friends to get from National Park to Ecruteak City whereas it wouldn't even take 10 minutes in the games!

There's also a lot of locations based on real world places in countries different to the ones that the regions are based on, especially in the movies. For example, Alto Mare is based on Venice, Italy yet it is located off the coast of Johto, a Japan based region. A non-movie example is the Ninja Village in the France based Kalos region.

As for Pokemon species, it seems that any Pokemon that we know of at the time can be found in the regions, even if they're not found there in the games. For example, you see Johto, Hoenn and a small number of Sinnoh Pokemon in Kanto during the Battle Frontier saga. The only exception I can think of is Unova during the first season of BW which only featured Gen 5 Pokemon.

Okay I read the question as "Is it possible to catch 'em all?" and I wrote this: I feel like catching them all is a bit more impossible in the anime. I don't know how Ash could have all those 700+ Pokemon at Oak's lab, or anyone other than Ash or Gary could store all those Pokemon anywhere. And there's no way that Ash would be able to take care of all of them... I feel like that's the goal in the anime, not to just "have them all" like collectible cards, like in the games.

Buuuut I think the regions are a lot bigger in the anime. The geography, anyway. I like the anime version of the regions better because it seems more like an expansive world instead of a little city-like area.
