Another reason why I chose Hydreigon was the fact that it has two immunities in Psychic and Ground thanks to its Dark typing and ability Levitate respectively. In competitive battling Hydreigon avoids Spikes and Toxic Spikes too, which is another pro.

And as a few others have mentioned, Hydreigon has one base speed higher than Haxorus. In 1 VS 1 Haydreigon would win with a Dragon Pulse.

Haxorus, meet Blissey. Meet Heal Bell/Aroamatherapy, with Wish and a Choice Scarf: Haxorus wins.

Hydriegon is a pseudo-legendary, meaning more BST than Haxorus. However, 147 attack isn't an easy stat to overlook. Haxorus + Choice Scarf + Outrage... Unless the opponent is a steel-type or an extremely resilient physical wall (or both), your defending 'mon has literally 100% chance to be OHKO'd. On the other hand, Hydriegon isn't to be underestimated either, because it has vast movepool + very good sp. atk.

Yeah I run a Choice Scarf set and it does pretty well, though I think if I chose Rivalry instead of Mold Breaker it'd do better siiiince it's not normally locked into EQ so it doesn't need to worry about Rotom-W etc that often on the scarfed set. Idk I'm guessing that's probably written somewhere but I didn't look up anything for Haxorus, so yeah, lol. Poor Hydreigon is limited if it's locked into Draco Meteor. :(

Oh, I love this thread.

So, lets see, Hydra Dragon vs Axe Horus right? Oh sorry, Hydreigon vs Haxorus.
Classically I would choose Hydreigon (like many others) but it is soothing to say about Haxorus's Swords Dance. Being a Dark type makes Hydreigon open up more type disadvantages. I hope some special attack move equal to Dragon Claw or Outrage comes up, it would make Hydreigon unstoppable.

Well, Hydreigon learns Dragon Pulse (Special), which is 90 in power, and although it's slightly higher than Dragon Claw, it's basically the same. :x

I dunno, i think haxorus looks way better, but hydreigon has the better movepool and stats. Although hydreigon is better on paper, id still go for haxorus. I like him better. :P

Although Hydreigon has a good design and a hard name to pronounce, theres something about Haxorus' design that I like more.

I find Haxorus's design to be an insult to Axew's evolution line. Of all the things they could have done, they made that thing. It's SO ugly. Hydreigon's a badass looking Pokémon done right, so there's my vote!

Well, Hydreigon's better speed + Haxorus' better design = Hard decision. I guess both should have a better shiny sprite

I have to go for haxorous as it evolves at a lower level and I HATE level grinding. and one that point the only other time I use a dragon type on my team is in R/S/E as you can catch trapinch early enough in the game

Well, Hydreigon because of the movesets. Haxorus can only learn physical attacks, but Hydreigon on the other hand can learn both. I happen to have a physical attacking Hydreigon as well as a special attacking one and BOTH deal devastating damage. So there's my reason of voting for Hydreigon.

Haxorous for the win. He would pwn anthing in it's path. And it's shiny is much better. :3

Hydreigon is just more interesting; design, typing, and the first non-legendary dragon with higher special attack than attack.
The only thing I've found noteworthy about Haxorus is how it's a fully-evolved pure-Dragon-type.

I hope some special attack move equal to Dragon Claw or Outrage comes up, it would make Hydreigon unstoppable.

It can also have Dark Pulse (bred from a few things able to learn it from the gen. 4 TM; easy enough to do if one can PokéTransfer since the TM is buyable).
