4th Gen HeartGold/SoulSilver Speculation

I think so too because Aerodactyl was only fossil pokémon that player could get in Generation 2. Unless you trade others from R/B/Y. XD So it wouldn´t make any sense that they´d put all the fossils and also Underground into these remakes. : P But, can we still trade pokémon trough WiFi like in D/P/Pl versions? : DD

i'm pretty sure we will be able to get all fossils, seeing that kanto will be included, and there was a fossil house in the city with brock and there was also a in cinnabar island a place to make fossils revive, so i think it wouldn't make sence if it wasn't able anymore

Okay, I see the basic discussion here is on whether or not fossils and the underground will be included within the remakes. My over all thought on the Underground is that it is a possibility and cannot be ruled out as yet. We don't have a complete confirmation of it and all we can really speculate about is the three blue pipes seen in New Bark Town which have a similar look to the air vents from Sinnoh. So, if they do include the Underground I can bet that they'll add in the old and new fossils according to how teh PokéDex is set. Also, we seem to not realize that, Johto is one region with their own antic, and Kanto is another of its own. So, if Kanto is included then you cannot deny that the underground could be included within that region alone, but not Johto, as this is a possibility as well. For the fossils though, I think they migth include even though the original Gold and Silver didn't include them. I mean it is a remake and things are being developed and added in, so fossils have a good chance of being included this time unlike the originals. However, all we can do is basic speculation for the time unless we actually get some released information about these features and items.

Only thing about that is where are we going to get the fossils turned into pokemon? They'd have to add it in, or make some kind of story event where Cinabar gets rebuilt, pokemon lab and all.

Pewter Museum.

I don't see any need for an Underground, or at least not how it's seen in Sinnoh.

Any other number of mini-games/side-quests of similar complexity/connectivity to the Underground could take its place for obtaining fossils and other items.

I mean, a giant network of underground tunnels expanding across an entire region, barely occupied by anyone, yet neatly kept and open to unattended children wandering around? Far too gimmicky to be done more than once IMO.

Release date, anyone?

I can't seem to find it... :s

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but are the johto pokeballs going to be brought back? I know they arent in the game code for in dp/pt. Also, will Celebi FINALLY be available through an in game event (even if you have to get a ticket/gs ball through a RL event)

To answer your questions on the Pokéball, we haven't received much information on this. It is known the typical Pokéball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Master Ball will be included. However, as far as it goes to whether the apricorn feature with Kurt will be back or if the new Pokéballs introduced by RSE and DPPt, it isn't known as yet. The thing is compatibility reasons might stop the creation of the original Johto balls like you've mentioned before, though there are always ways to make things work within games. So, the best thing to do is wait, but I would think the DPPt balls may be featured instead of the older Johto balls because of compatibility causes. Plus, it would keep things at simplicity if you really think about it.

As for Celebi, nothing has been revealed about it as yet. It is currently in speculation by the fans. However, many think [like the Rotom Key event] it shall be obtained through a Wi-Fi event for the remakes. The GS Ball would be the item and the same run through like what was in Crystal could be applied. Though, nothing much is revealed, we can at least say that more than likely a Celebi event should be held at least a few months after the Japanese release for that country. The same should happen for countries outside of Japan as well, but we'll see [again].

Kurt's house has been seen in a screenshot, so the apricorn feature is likely to be kept. However, I should think that the apricorns will be exchanged for the new Generation III Poké balls. Like, instead of a Level Ball, the red apricorn should be exchanged for a Nest Ball. Or, there could be a Ball Case, like the TM case and Berry Pouch in FRLG, for holding all the classic Generation II balls. Kurt could probably find an excuse to give you that and make you put the balls in it.

"WHOA! These apricorn balls are far too fragile. You can't mix them in with the others! Here."
[PLAYER] obtained the Ball Case!
"That'll do just fine. Now keep these in there from now on."

However, I hope they also incorporate the Net Ball and what-not, too.

I don't think they'd take out the Johto balls, it wouldn't be the same without them. Kurt going to the Slopoke well and you going to stop Team Rocket was pretty big, then he awarded you with a ball and told you if you had any acorns to come back to him. I am pretty sure they will have the different kinds of Johto balls.

Couldn't they keep the Johto balls and when they get transfered over to D/P/Pt they just become regular Pokeballs? Or maybe corresponding Gen III balls?

The thing with translating a ball to known coding for DPPt would just make no sense as people would want to keep the ball used to capture their Pokémon. The best idea they could possibly do is interpret the newer generation balls with the apricorns. The reason why I say this is because it makes things a lot simpler for compatability reasons. Not to mention, it'll still give the apricorns and Kurt a point for being held within the game. I would love for the Johto balls to come back, but then you've got to think of all the possibilities as well. So, at least Kurt will be back, but if they can simply use the apricorns to transfer into the making of the Third and Forth Generation balls, then so be it as it isn't something that'll majorly disturb me. However, some may ask, "Well, what about if we trade over the Apricorns?" To me, I think for the solution to this problem so we can at least have the apricorn feature back is to store them within their own slot for the player's bag. Just like how Key items are stored and not able to be held, then the samething can easily be done for the apricorns. We'll see how it turns out though, because there hasn't been a single Apricorn Tree sighted as yet from the map nor from the insight of the scans.

How would it not make sense? The balls are meant to be used within HG/SS. I don't see how it would bother people who want to transfer them over to the other games. It seems like a reasonable plan to me.

Don't get me wrong though. I do too agree that it would be much simpler to bring in the Gen 3 balls rather than bringing back the Johto balls. But such a thing is capable of hindering many Gold/Silver fans, and that "nostalgic" feeling of the game.

Why don't they have an Apricorn case? They don't have to be attachable to the Pokemon. Also, Kurt could give you a special bag specifically for his Apricorn balls. That way, they won't have be traded over. I really hope they don't get rid of Fast Ball, Lure Ball, Love Ball, Moon Ball, etc.

The thing about the Pokéballs, and if you look at the relations that the DPPt Pokéballs in you might notice they could have been done on purpose. Okay, we know that the games have been in thought since three years ago, which was basically around the same time Diamond and Pearl came out. If you look at it closely:

- The Moon Ball made back in Gold and Silver worked best at night, and when DPPt came out a Pokéball was made that worked best at night as well, which is what we know as the Dusk Ball.

- Then there is the Love Ball, which creates the bond between your Pokémon and you, the player grow faster. The Luxury Ball does exactly that, which gives this another connection.

- The Fast Ball, has an easy relation with the Quick Ball we use today.

The pattern and connection from the exclusive Gold and Silver Balls continues on with the newer designed Pokéballs that are used for specific cases. So, if you really think about it, Game Freak could have easily done this on purpose knowing that when they new remakes were to be released the newer generation balls could have easily been used to replace those that Kurt had designed before. They share the same use, and same equality in pattern. This is what has gotten people thinking and the possibility of it working is high, but we still need confirmation on it. Having Kurt back is understandable as he does play a small role in some events, such as the Celebi game event including the GS Ball. However, the sighting of an Apricorn tree has not been seen as yet and no information has really been given out about it. So, like we are doing now [speculation] is all we can really continue doing about this matter. However, there are connections between the balls, and we'll have to see what will be done.

Let's Surf

I've always wanted to be able to actually see the pokemon I was surfing on instead of seeing a lapras, wailmer, etc. Do you think it's possible that they've added this feature into Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

*Keep in mind there are some small pokemon that can learn surf.

There's already been a lot of speculation about this in the main speculation thread. You can expect Bobandbill to come around and close this very soon.

It would be awesome if you could see mewtwo in this game, unlike the first time it was released.
