Here comes another noob developer...

[Q of Death]

Hey everyone, i'm Q and I LOOOOOOOVE pokemon! I've probably used up a solid 2 years in play time with any number of versions of the game. I've been messing around with hacked versions latley, looking for something new to do with pokemon until I can shell out the nearly $300 for a 3ds and pokemon x&y (I always get both versions, and usually 2 systems too so I can play with my wife.)

Recently I was playing through pokemon emerald on an emulator, and I came across a tool called advancemap, because the emulator (no$GBA) spazzes out when you have an area with a fog effect, so I used that to remove the fog effects... then I started using it to make interesting little changes here and there to make things more fun, and then I decided that it would probably be really awesome if I could make my own hack.

I've spent about a week researching, messing with different tools, finding different websites, and struggling through sites that are half translated into English from Spanish (oh whack a hack, I can't even deal with half of you!), until I wised up and started looking for forums like I would when I was looking for a good World of Warcraft Private Server (another game that's taken up way too much of my precious time, R.I.P AstralWoW). That led me directly to this place, and it seems to be exactly what I was looking for, full of great hacks, with detailed descriptions, people that want to help make them better, and resources for the beginner hacker/developer (I prefer developer, it sounds more official and important =D).

I've been a musician and a gamer for most of my life. Being a musician, I know what it feels like to create, and it's an indescribable feeling. I'm 26 now, no longer a naive little boy, but a man, and now it's about time I took my desire to create to the other thing that I'm passionate about, Games. If you'd ever be interested in checking out my other creations, my band's website is in my signature, and all the music there is free to listen/DL, as I would feel kinda wrong charging money for music, unlike most of the rest of the world I believe that free expression shouldn't cost anything...

I'm looking for people that can give me a helping hand as far as scripting goes. I'm not that good at programming, but I've never really had a reason to apply myself., not even sure what I'd need for scripting a pokemon game. I've got a sharp mind and I like to work, so It should be easy to pick up whatever i'll need once I figure out where to start xD. Who knows, maybe the skills I pick up here can help me get a good paying job later, **** if you can program, you can make money without ever leaving your home if you get the right opportunities or you're clever enough...

Well enough rambling, I'm gonna go look at more hacked games for inspiration! Peace!

Yeah yeah! I totally agree. This place has some really good hacks and I can see why so many hackers decide to pop in and get involved.. all the tools and resources available kind of make my head hurt, lol. Which is of course a great thing! I don't personally hack myself but you'll find plenty who do and would be glad to help out. For starters you could check out the hacking simple questions thread as well as the Tutorials subforum. Oh, and since you're in need of scripting help, you can check out the scripting help thread.

Hey there, Q! Great luck with all your hacking! Ah, I'd love to learn way more about ROM Hacking than what I did from learning months ago, and if I find the time, I'll try and learn more on how to make ROM Hacks myself, so, I do believe that it'll be a pleasant experience for the both of us! Mmm, but yes, here on PC, it's pretty big on the hacking community, so, you'll no doubt will be able to learn everything that you need to here!

I've been playing music through out my high school days myself; I do agree on that it's a pretty great feeling on creating your own works of art, or maybe expanding a bit more on classics! I've been playing the Saxophone, the Piano, and I'm trying to learn the Bass Guitar myself. Not a wide collection of instruments played, but, hey, they were pretty awesome in my days. <3

Welcome amigo ! you can find a alot of things here like Video Games, General entertainment, ROM hacking, Pokemon GEN I,II,III,IV,V,VI etc there are some non Pokemon forum you can visit and Gen forum are for Pokemon ROM gaming and In Rom hacking you can make and publish your own hack to public just by completing the Thread requirments (better ask the moderator about it) And there is also Pokemon club forum there you can make your own club and lead it. If you had any prob or question ask me and i will try to help you if i can't just PM Any staff member or make a thread in Question & Feedback forum.

Its one of the best place to discuss about Pokemon hacking and completing your Pokedex, battling making hack etc etc. don't be shy to give me friend request! posting very good can also reward you a very good gift. The super Moderator will choose who post very good and can make them Moderator. Please read the rules of Pokecommunity (or PC in short) and all the rules of the forum written by the Moderator of the sub forum. A Super moderator can handle all forum. There is forum for everything so just visit any forum you want and make a thread about it or post in a thread. You can customize your signature,profile picture,avatar etc etc in Your user control panel. So you should check all the forum and you can also publish your own hack. By going to the Emulation and ROM Hacking forum and you need to spend 3 months here for team discussion in team discussion you can invite people to join in your project of your hack. But you need to fill the thread requirements. Like you need to give at least 4 or 6 screen shots but not Pokemon base stat, Pokemon Moveset. you also need to write the features and story above the screen shots. And same with Hack publishing but you doesn't need to spend 3 months to publish a hack to public. Anyway have some amazing and great days in PC ! see ya later
