    Hey there,

I'm Raene. Most people call me by my name, Allen. I got into Pokemon a long time ago. Elementary school in British School in Tokyo, Shibuya. When Yu-gi-oh was getting really popular, I asked my mum for cards. To my working mum, Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon was like to-may-to and to-mah-to. So I got Pokemon cards instead. I never really did anything with them because Yu-gi-oh was still popular and I still managed to play it with my friends. But those cards still stuck with me because I was far more interested in the cool looking Pocket Monsters than the beasts on the Yu-gi-oh cards. Then getting into the cartoon/anime dub, especially the movies on VHS. I still remember having a gameboy advance and finally getting the chance to play Pokemon Emerald, but never being able to complete it because the mechanics of a Pokemon game was too complicated for young Allen. I never completed a single Pokemon game until Pokemon Pearl several years later.

I think it was thanks to Harry Potter and Pokemon that I got into writing. Because I concisely remember writing a fanfiction of Ash and May becoming Pokemon Rangers when they're older and investigating a mystery surrounding Kyogre. I posted it on seribii forums, it got a decent amount of attention, I had a beta help me write it better, and I forgot everything since. It was around the same time I created an account on this forum, which is why this account is so old.

Seven years later, I'm studying creative writing and narrative design. Funny for a guy that struggles to finish books. I think I've only completed less than 10 books in my entire life (ignoring the hundreds of fanfiction I've read). So it's strange that I get my origin in writing in fanfiction, then honing my skills by reading them and writing them. Now I'm a pretty good writer currently working on a book in the midst of this lockdown. Even though I've completed Pokemon FireRed, Emerald, Omega Ruby, Platinum, and HeartGold, in my quarantine. They all felt extremely easy thanks to playing harder versions of the DS games in rom hacks by Drayano. I honestly don't remember Cynthia being that much of a breeze.

I write this introduction because I'm bored and need a break from writing a short story dedicated to my two favourite characters in the Pokemon series: Red and Cynthia. You can expect to see it in this forum relatively soon. It's the appropriate length for a short story so there's hopefully enough meat to satisfy.

Funny how we made an account at around the same time and also forgot about it until recently lol. Welcome to PC Allen! Just from your intro alone I can tell you're passionate for writing.

I do agree with Pokemon > Yugioh any time of year. And I guess I'll be seeing you around the Writing subforums on here.

Also yes, playing Drayano's hacks will make you feel like a god when you transition to vanilla games lmao. Looks like you'll want to only play QoL & Kaizo rom hacks from now.

Welcome Allen! Ahhhh the days of the Pokémon TCG were very short lived for me. I'm pretty sure I dropped it for the YuGiOh TCG. Drayano's hacks are great! I'm currently having fun with a mono run in Blaze Black 2 on challenge mode. I look forward to you posting your story, I really enjoy reading stories made by fans. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, enjoy your stay!
