Well a PM is "Private Message". The quickest way to send a private message is to click the person's username on a board, and then select private message. And sprites can be made using anything that allows you to edit a picture, but they have made programs for making sprites. I just don't know any...and since this is a welcome forum you shouldn't change the subject from "welcome".
