6th Gen Hidden ability lost upon evolution

    My Froakie had the hidden ability "protean" but upon evolving, seems to have lost it -- instead, it now lists "torrent". Is this supposed to happen? =/
     
    I'm pretty sure that it will not happen. You might have gotten a regular Froakie to evolve instead of the Protean one.

    That happens if the nature was hacked in the pokemon.You got it from a trade or from friend safari?

    I bred it D: one of the parents was a Japanese Froakie with Protean that I got from a wondertrade though
     
    Nope, starter Froakie plus Japanese Froakie xD I'll level it up, thanks!

    Male DW + Ditto = low chance of DW offspring
    Female DW + Male = higher chance of DW offspring
    Female DW + Ditto = Possible* starting in Gen VI, which was not true in Gen V. Percentage unknown.
    Female + Male DW = NO DW offspring

    When I used a ditto from korea and my own magician fennekin, more than half my eggs came with magician.

    Does not mean you won't get dozens and thousands of DW offspring with this one. It's just a percentage, don't take it literally. {:3}

    If you meant this one then that means good news! :) As I said earlier, it was impossible.
     
    Oh, I feel like an idiot for not specifying, but it was a female magician fennekin with a ditto
     
    The female Japanese Froakie had Protean by the way, if that helps a little more ;P
     
    Back in Gen V you HAD to have an Identical Male and DWF in order to pass on the Hidden ability
     
    She's not having problems breeding a Poke with the hidden ability. She's saying her Poke lost its hidden ability upon evolving.
     
    A pokemon shouldn't just "lose" the ability it's supposed to retain upon evolving. Although this is an exception for some Pokemon, Protean Froakie shouldn't just change its ability to Torrent when it evolves to Frogadier.

    Maybe the one you raised had Torrent? It's not a 100% guarantee that the hidden ability is going to be passed down.
     
    There are glitches so lets not jump the poor kid. Even while breeding them in your game, a glitch can happen.

    You are the first I've heard of with this particular issue. I had some attacks lost upon evolution on my Gourgeist. Got it through Wonder Trade. It had four moves and learned Phantom Force. When the learning part went away I checked her cause I discovered she was a Super Sized one and she lost Explosion and Phantom Force. I sent a bug error ticket to TPC which is pretty much all you can do sadly.

    Sadly what was lost is lost. All you can do is keep trying to get Protean Froakies to evolve. It may have been a one time glitch, but if it happens more than once, you really need to contact The Pokemon Company by making an account on Pokemon.com if you don't have one yet and letting them know about this bug.

    No any Male would do in Gen 5. The only requirement is that the Female had to have a Dream World Ability. You can't breed Egg Moves easily into Dream World Pokemon if that were true and I've never used same species Pokemon when I got Hidden Ability Babies in Gen 5.

    Same thing happened with my Gourgeist that evolved at level 1 from Wonder Trade.
     
    Definitely sounds like a glitch, sorry to say. Pokemon don't switch to their other ability upon evolving; abilities only change when the evolved Pokemon can never have the ability of the pre-evo.

    ex. Honedge and Doublade have No Guard, Aegislash has Stance Change 100% of the time
     
    The same thing just happened to me. I was training my Adaptability Eevee to get a Pixilate Sylveon, and it's pretty tough getting there ._.
    It evolved into a Sylveon with Cute Charm. I'm so sad right now.
