Which HM do you find the most useful?

    Which HM do you find you use the most and least? And how much usefulness to you get out of them?

    Cut - I find it useful early on in the game, but as the games progress it's usefulness useless diminishes. For instance some trees that I encounter can be avoided completely, so I don't need cut if I take a slightly longer path.

    Fly - I find this one quite useful upon getting. I can return to previous towns/cities I visited. The only draw back is you cannot go to towns you have yet to visit. That may not be a draw back as you would avoid facing trainers, which you could gain experience from. Most of the time though at the point of the game you obtain the HM you already visited most locations.

    Surf - This maybe for at least me the most useful move in battle and in the over world. Regions like Hoenn it is definitely useful as there are an abundance of water routes. I find myself using Surf over and over from the time I obtain, until the time I completely every thing I sought out too in the game.

    Strength - Especially useful in Caves, Dungeons, and so on, I find it one of the more useful TMs behind Fly and Surf. Upon obtaining it I use it numerious times be it passing through Ice Path, going to Seafoam Islands trying to get Articuno, getting to Regigigas chamber(I am sure there are others, but these all I can think of at the moment.) Almost every Victory Road I find myself having to use Strength quite often. Very useful through the middle and end of the game which is when it is usually given to you.

    Flash - It is limited useful, in caves like Rock Tunel, Granite Cave, Whirl Islands. I believe some Dark caves alternate through game to games. Those are the main ones I can think of.

    Whirlpool - As this is limited to Johto I never really found this useful across the board. I only use it a few select times and that is about it.

    Rock Smash - I never really found much use for this, I use it too get past a couple obstacles here and their overall I didn't see much use for this.

    Waterfall - This HM severed some useful from gaining access to key areas like the entrance to Victory Road in Hoenn and the end of Victory Road in Sinnoh. Also getting to certain areas in Meteor Falls and Mt. Mortar. I find it some what useful in battles as.

    Dive - Again this one is limited as it is only an HM in Hoenn and Unova. It is moderately usefull at the most as it is found never the end of the main story in Hoenn and I don't know the extent of the usefulness in Unova, but I don't it is too extensive. Mainly the uses I used it for was too get to Sootopolis City, the Under Water Cavern, and the Under Water Chamber to active the Regi's. That is about as much use as I got out of it.

    Defog - I found this too be the most useless HM of all. It is only available in one region and in the region there are few area it is actually useful in like, Route 210, and area in Mt. Coronet, and maybe another area. Needless to say I thought this HM was worthless to be on honest.

    Rock Climb - This HM is useful only until the end of the games it was available in. In Sinnoh it was used to get to Spear Pillar in HGSS it was useful in Mt. Silver, as well as getting to certain locations to obtain items.
     
    Surf is the most useful HM in Pokemon gaming because not only is it viable in battle, you can use it to cross water, which may be needed to get to new areas.
     
    I voted Surf, because in battle, it is an accurate and powerful move
     
    Fly for the convenience when you positively, absolutely HAVE to get somewhere fast.

    Next would be Surf because there's always a good amount of water in Pokemon games and it's a great attack in game.

    The rest only get used whenever I need to.
     
    Well i always use HM buddies, so HMs aren't realy that big of a deal to me.
    But I always use Surf even on Pokemon that aren't HM buddies cause it's very strong and accurate!
     
    As actual moves to use in battle, I find I use Surf and Fly quite a bit. Both are good battling moves that do quite a bit of damage. But for non-battle use, I would have to say I fly everywhere. Speaking of Fly, I always crack up when I fly from town to town on my Dodrio. ^__^
     
    Going with the crowd here. Fly and Surf are the only ones that serve me any purpose, with the occasional Strength. Waterfall isn't too bad either. As for usefulness outside of battle, Fly and Surf once more take the cake, however I rely on Surf more often. I usually make teams without concerning myself over having a flier.

    The most useless...Flash, Defog, and freaking Rock Smash. I've taught myself how to get through dark caves, foggy areas should have never been created, or at least not their side effect. It's dumb. And Rock Smash...is just a horrible move in battle and a waste of a move slot. OH AND WHIRLPOOL. You use it like...once or twice. Then you're done. So useful.
