Hey, does anyone remember the great game that was Hocus Pocus for DOS? I've discovered that it doesn't like to run in XP's CMD program, so I'm attempting to remake it using Game Maker 6. So far, I have the first level nearly completed, plus a complete (for what's done) instruction manual. Is anyone interested? Attached is the readme file and start screen. I also have a zipped version of what I have done so far (guarenteed no viruses:P). PM me for the link!

Respond with interest, support, comments, etc.

kool, sound interesting!..what game platforms does it play on?

That was pretty fun! I'd never heard of the game beforehand but I'll try anything on here. That was quite impressive, the graphics were nice, the physics were fine and it had a great tune to it. The only flaw for me was the button configuration, which I found kinda difficult when trying to alternate between jumping and shooting. Great job dude, you should get Daegon to add this to the Demo Archive.

Thanks! I used the original control scheme, which had CTRL as jump and SPACE as shoot. This worked fine for me, although I might add other control schemes. If you want a different one, tell me.

Level 1 is just about complete, all that needs to be done is have the red monsters shoot. Levels 2 and 3 are debug rooms for testing and setting the high score table.

That was a nice game! Nice graphics, and I thought that the controls were easy to use. Nice start on the game.

I remember playing the original Hocus Pocus, twas an awesome game.

So far it's very nice, had no problems with the controls.
Although I sometimes can't shoot while walking and jump.

Adding control configuration would be a good idea, for people who do not like the default settings.

OK...now updating websites for the next update. This includes a playable level 2 with working doors, although you won't be able to see the floor, walls or painful spots unless you use the "viewblock" cheat. If you want to preview the layout for level 2, go ahead and download it when I edit this post saying it's ready. The size has increased to 5 MB, but it's b/c of extra junk for programming. The size will go back down to about 3.5 MB in the final level 2 update.

Oh, to easily skip between levels, use the Page [up, down] keys. Also, tell me if you think this feature should be left in the final version. (maybe only the level skip feature, not the back a level feature).

This text will turn green when the update is ready. Tell me what you think. Use the Freewebs site only.

1 hour 30 mins? That's a long time. Anyway, I'll post my evaluation as soon as I've finished playing around.

One and a half hours?! That's nuts. It didn't take me that long to upload it, and usually uploading is slowest. What's your connection speed?

Today I'll work on getting backgrounds and tiles into level 2. Hopefully, if all goes well, I might be able to upload a visually pleasing level 2 by tonight.
