The Journey Begins - Littleroot Town

Sean looked up at the Swellow, who was now ascending to carry it's rider back to where they had came from. That rider, of course, was his friend Robert - often just Rob - who had offered him a ride to Littleroot Town after hearing the news of him being selected to become a Trainer. Like most people would, Sean took the offer. He didn't have any other way of getting to the town, with Rusturf Tunnel blocking one route there and the ocean blocking the other. Otherwise, he would have to travel through the wilderness, which was almost impossible with the foliage being so dense. And he could encounter anything out there. It was all around a bad idea.

Rob had left with a simple phrase, "good luck." He hoped he didn't need luck, but with the world being the way it was, even the best Trainers did. That worrying thought would be one he would carry for a while, but he still would continue his journey.

No regrets. Right. This was what he had wanted to do since childhood.

He looked on at Littleroot Town. What he saw suprised him, now that he could get a full, complete sight of it. He never imagined that there was a place even more bland and boring than Verdanturf. The latter, at least, had a cave, a Pokemon Center and Mart, as well as an interesting route nearby. Aside from that, though, Verdanturf was grass and houses. Littleroot was just that. Even the Route nearby looked bland. Sean shrugged, at least he would be leaving this place soon enough. He just needed to head down to the lab and receive his partner, and he could be gone whenever he wanted to be.

He tried to take a step closer to the lab, but in front of him was a short little girl, no older than seven or eight. Her long brown hair was formed into pigtails, and she sported a cute yellow dress. She looked up into Sean's eyes and spoke eagerly. "Are you one of the new Trainers? Want me to show you to the Professor man's lab?"

Sean sighed. He could literally see the laboratory from where he was standing, but it seemed like accepting would make the girl really happy. He couldn't help doing things that made people happy, often even when he really didn't want to do whatever the task was. So he accepted the girl's kind offer and began to trek (really just a nice stroll, but the girl was making a huge thing out of it) towards where Professor Birch wanted him.

She began to point out every little detail, showing him every little house and thing that had any importance to her. At one point, she even said "And this is the patch of grass where I saw Professor Birch in person for the first time... isn't that neat?" Sean was getting slightly annoyed, as he just wanted to get there and receive his Pokemon, but the girl seemed really nice and he didn't want to upset her. He didn't say anything. After what felt like an eternity, they finally got there.

"And we're here!" she said with just as much energy as she had when the walk began much earlier. Sean really didn't know how you could take so long to travel such a short distance, but it just kind of happened. He thanked the girl halfheartedly, as he really wished it didn't take as long, but she didn't notice. The girl just bolted off at a high speed.

"If only she could have been that fast on the way here..." Sean spoke to no one in particular. Excited, he pushed open the door to the lab and saw Professor Birch in the back, looking at some papers under a lamp. It was like he wasn't expecting anybody - which he wasn't, but Sean didn't know that at the time. He cleared his throat to get the attention of the Professor.

Startled, he turned around and sent the papers off his desk with his arm. "Oh!" he said. "Uhh... aren't you one of the people that I was supposed to give a Pokemon to? But I already gave out my five... hold on," And just like that, he turned back around and looked at his small stack of toppled papers. He pulled out the one on the bottom, a document of some sort. He looked even more startled than before!

"Oh!" he said once again, as Sean made a mental note that the Professor had taken a liking to saying the word oh. Actually, he didn't know if that was technically a word. It probably wasn't... another mental note. "I accepted six trainers? Uhh... everyone else already came and took the ones I set out, I'll see if I can find a spare Pokemon for you." And right after that, the Professor (who so far, seemed pretty unprofessional to Sean - how ironic, he thought) began opening shelves left and right, as if he would find a Pokemon in there. Somehow he did. In a high shelf near the entrance, Professor Birch pulled out a rogue Poke Ball and tossed it to Sean, who didn't really see it as he was deep in thought about why he would just leave that lying and abandoned. It seemed kind of cruel. But because of this, the ball bounced off his arm and onto the ground, releasing the Pokemon inside. Sean had never seen this species before.

It was a short little black creature with stubby hands and feet, and it wore a yellow "cloak" lined with orange that formed a triangular shape around it's head. The Pokemon had sky blue eyes and a large mouth.

The Pokemon looked at Sean, who looked right back at her.

"Ah, it's a Snorunt," Professor Birch said. "Ice type. Can evolve into Glalie or Froslass."

Sean picked up his new Pokemon and raised her to about eye level, so they were looking right at eachother. "You're kinda cute," he said, "I think we'll be good together." He had seen Glalie and Froslass before in televised Pokemon battles. Although Glalie kind of freaked him out, he did admire Froslass. The young Pokemon cried in excitement. The Professor smiled.

"Well, uhh, good luck out there," said the Professor. As he pointed to the desk at the back, he said "Here are some Poke Balls and a Poke-"

Before he could finish, Sean took the items off the desk and ran out, saying nothing but "thanks". He really didn't have the time for this, he wanted to get out and on his journey. It seemed like he was already late. But one thing made him question his motives - everyone saying "good luck". Was it really going to come down to luck? Why does everyone need to say that?

Did he really want to do this?

Of course, he thought, and shook that idea from his mind. Verdanturf can't control what I think anymore. And he began to once again run towards the Route to the north, with his Snorunt barely managing to keep up behind him.

Now if only he knew what the Pokedex was.

@Veevee: That was a really good post! Loved seeing everyone's different perceptions of Professor Birch! I like the little self-doubt that Sean had at the end too, very subtle and well done.

    Sean's First Battle - Route 101

Route 101. A serene, tranquil place where wild Pokemon can run free though their natural habitat. It is free from Trainers to disturb them at this quiet time of day - oh, wait. Sean is here now. Nevermind.

The new Trainer and his Snorunt looked at the Route ahead. Sean wanted to catch up with the others at Oldale Town so he actually had some people to talk to on his journey. But at the same time, he wanted to battle with his Snorunt. On that note, the Snow Hat Pokemon was just excited, not caring what Sean decided to do. It wasn't the longest Route, but there was a good amount of tall grass that he couldn't avoid if he wanted to progress.

Snorunt was jumping up and down in joy, but Sean wasn't really paying attention. He was trying to spot a wild Pokemon to battle. But most Pokemon were sleeping at this late hour, which restricted his options.

His Pokemon came through for him. After letting out a cry to get the attention of her Trainer, she put her hand in the direction of a Poochyena. It had it's nose to the ground and the dog Pokemon was advancing toward the treeline like it was following a trail of sorts. Sean took a step forward, but the Pokemon heard it and looked straight at him. It began to growl and inch towards them.

Sean began to panic and back away, even though it was just a little Poochyena. It was still a Pokemon. It could still attack. Luckily, Snorunt took a step forward, and prepared to use an attack - but it didn't know what attack! Sean didn't know either, because he didn't know what his Pokemon knew. The Pokedex did, though. If only he had stopped to listen to Professor Birch...

"Uhh..." he said, in a little panic, "Use... something!"

The Snorunt must have used the first move that came to mind, because right after that, a light blue orb began growing between her hands. Leaving the cloak floating behind her, she threw the orb at the Pokemon. As it flew, it began to fall apart into several sharp shards of ice, maximizing the damage when it struck the Poochyena. It tumbled backwards and landed on it's back, but it hadn't given up yet. The shards of ice had landed around the dog Pokemon, and so it picked one up in it's mouth and lunged towards Snorunt. She couldn't dodge it, and although the shard had melted a little in the Poochyena's mouth, it was still sharp and it still hurt. She fell forward from the pain, but got right back up - only to meet a powerful Bite right on top of her head from the dog. Although it was much smaller than Sean's Pokemon, it tried picking up the Snorunt and shake it around. Snorunt was heavier, so this didn't work out.

It stepped back and began to pant, and Snorunt used this time to prepare an attack. He began charging up another orb, this one white. When it was finished, the orb blasted at the Poochyena with streams of silver trailing behind it. but the Poochyena anticipated the attacked and leaped out of the way. The orb faded away as it hit a tree and flattened out.

Right away, the Poochyena dived to the left towards Snorunt, and then once again lunged at her. This Tackle attack hit hard, sending Snorunt flying right onto Sean's stomach, sending him backwards.

It looked like the first battle had been lost, but as a last resort, Snorunt pulled out another Ice Shard. The orb grew between her hands, but even larger than before. It flew at an even higher speed, and broke into even more shards than before. Several of the shards struck the dog Pokemon with force, and anyone could tell that it was injured, even more so when the force sent it into a tree.

It let out an exhausted bark before closing it's eyes, unconcious.

Snorunt began jumping for joy again, but that was short lived before she fell to the ground again from being so hurt and tired. Sean picked her up in his arms and held her. Her exhausted eyes looked right up at him before closing. Snorunt was asleep.

He had won his first battle. Only he hadn't actually done anything.

Sean sat down on a rock and laid the Snorunt down. Meanwhile, he opened his bag and looked at the Pokedex. Of course, he had no clue what this device was, but he wanted to mess around with it like anyone in his position would. The first button he pushed caused a light to shine on the sleeping Snorunt. The screen flashed on and gave Sean an assortment of information on both his Snorunt in specific and the entire species. The device also began to speak.

Snorunt, the Snow Hat Pokemon. It is an Ice type that can evolve into either Glalie or Froslass. This Snorunt is registered under the trainer Sean Brunelle. Snorunt live in regions with heavy snowfall. In seasons without snow, such as spring and summer, this Pokémon steals away to live quietly among stalactites and stalagmites deep in caverns. It survives by eating only snow and ice. Old folklore claims that a house visited by this Pokémon is sure to prosper for many generations to come.

    "Whoa."

(Heh, glad to be back! Battle scenes'll be fun to write. Also, it wouldn't be cheating if Connie doesn't catch a Pokemon this chapter, right?)
    Connie Benatti

    Party l
    Hoenn Hard-Mode!

    Inventory l Pokedex, Pokeball x5
Current Location l Oldale Town (PKMN Center)
    Present Time l 7:49 PM

Oldale was just as tiny as it had been when Connie passed through earlier but the Pokemon Center was even more claustrophobic. Connie was not easily disturbed; the daughter of Giampeiro Bennati couldn't possibly be that. Still, the dim lighting of the center and close-together walls were cringe-worthy, even to her. She and her Slakoth were smashed in the corner, seated on hard plastic stools as the air conditioning drummed down on them like a hard winter breeze. A nurse fumbled around beneath the desk. She'd recently healed the Slacker Pokemon and was looking to reserve them a room. Clearly, that would be an issue, as she rushed to converse frantically with two other nurses.

In other words, it would take a long time to get things situated. She groaned and tried to curb her impatience, scratching the scruffy hairs along her Slakoth's back. He made no purrs of pleasure but showed no signs that he minded either. Very little seemed to upset him. Connie envied his laxness. Although it was hard to focus on her Pokemon when another kid was breathing down her neck. Much younger than her, about fourteen by the looks of it, with a blue baseball cap and freckles sprinkled all over his bloated face. A Wurmple bounced on his thigh. What truly irritated her was how he never seemed to close his mouth. She'd scooted away before but now there was no where to go.

"Would you mind?" she spoke, though a bit loudly. Usually, she wasn't one to provoke anyone but her temper was flaring and Connie was in no mood to handle anymore drama.

Still, the boy ignored the question. He was eyeing the Slakoth rather intensely. Or was that her chest? His steadfast blue gaze made her skin crawl. "So you chose Slakoth, huh? You do know its ability, right?"

Connie scowled. A creep and a snob. She'd show him for underestimating her. "And you do know what it evolves into, correct? And its single weakness, due to Normal typing? If you want to criticize Pokemon, let's talk about that Wurmple in your lap."

Sure enough, the boy transformed from peach pink to cherry red. "What's wrong with Wurmple?"

"Deficient stats, mediocre moveset, a final stage that isn't guaranteed... Don't be ignorant."

The boy stared at her face this time, long and hard. The two glared at one another, neither unflinching, although Connie couldn't deny the icy coldness in this stranger's eyes were very unnerving.

"Yeah, go ahead and act smart," he finally snarled. "At least I caught mine. It wasn't just handed to me by the Professor-"

"So you're is feral and hardly Trained?" she finished, rather smugly too. Connie couldn't help it. There was nothing more satisfying than showing up brats. The frosty-eyed boy's cheeks were so flushed and red, it looked as if he were suffering some allergic reaction. She'd really stung him.

"What's your deal!? You almost step on my Pokemon and now...!"

"I'm just telling you the truth." She stated this with finality. The argument was over; she'd won effortlessly. There was no purpose in continuing, so she returned to her stroking her Slakoth. Problem was, he wasn't there. In her lap, anyway. Connie patted her thighs for quite some time, in disbelief that he was no longer in her lap. The bloke had gone and crawled away! Just when things were looking up too. She spat in anger.

"Damn it, Slakoth! Where did you go!? Now I have to look all over the place to find you!"

"Don't swear," the other Trainer warned childishly. He seemed to have cooled down, though his eyes sparkled with relish at her plight. "This place is tiny. You'll find him."

Unfortunately, Connie did not. She looked in circles for what felt like centuries but not even a glimpse of brown fur was in sight. How a Pokemon that sluggish could cover so much ground in mere seconds... The Slakoth was just full of surprises. Now she was truly regretting not selecting Mudkip back in the lab. Quadruple typing was a pain but Grass types moves were rather predictable anyways. Mudkip were sturdy but also powerhouses to an extent. Meanwhile, the kid and his stupid overgrown louse were chuckling at her.

"Why don't get off your dumb a- behind and help me!?" she thundered across the center. The nurses were looking along in every peephole and crevice possible. Still, no luck. The plump, pimpled dweeb was the only person who refused to help.

Reluctant, he was, but eventually he slid off the chair. Returning his Wurmple to its respective Pokeball, he grumbled: "Fine. Just 'cause you can't find her. You must not be that good of a Trainer, then."

Connie glowered at him. "'Not a good Trainer', huh? Should we bring up your useless Bug type again? I didn't think so. And he's male, by the way. Who's a bad Trainer now, hmm?"

Embarrassed yet again, as reflected from the redness in his cheeks, the boy still spoke nary a word and stomped through the automatic doors of the Pokemon Center. As they closed behind both of them and they earned the dusk-fallen town, he mumbled something about it "being outside" and streaked off into the night. Connie followed with haste, wondering how far her only Pokemon could has possibly managed to crawl.

"Gotta catch or gotta beat? ...Heh, time to beat you up!"

There was a chance she was going to lose, Haley thinks. She brings out her pokedex then stills when the Linoone tenses and eyes her, she slowly opens it and lo behold a voice reports from the red object she is holding, "Linoone, the Rushing Pokémon. Linoone is the evolved form of Zigzagoon. It can run at speeds over 60 miles per hour but does not handle curves well." The mechanical voice reports. It was after that the Linoone moved. It was fast. Both Haley and her Mudkip jerked to the their sides, barely dodging the incoming bullet that was Linoone. "Whoa! Easy there! We haven't started yet!" Haley complains yet there is a grin on her face. This was not boring, this was action. "Oh man, this is awesome." She's practically giddy that she looks at the Linoon skidding into a halt then turned back to them with an aggravated look.

"You think you can beat us? Then come on!" She goads before she commands, "Pochiko use Water Gun!" At the same time the Linoon strikes, it ran towards the Mudkip as he blasted a forceful shot of water at it. The normal-type slowed down just a tad but it did not deter, before she could shout a 'dodge!' the Linoone struck her Pokemon with a tackle. Pochiko dug his four little feet to stop before he could hit something behind, shaking his whole body from the force of the move. The Linoone once again, skidded into a halt, shaking off the water that clung to its face and turned again. The two Pokemon eyed each other and then- "Pochiko, use growl!" Haley shouts out, he obeys, growling (cutely) at his opponent. Though now weary, it was not enough to intimidate the rushing Pokemon who was now running towards her Mudkip.

"Use Water Gun again!" When Pochiko was about to use the move, the Linoone stopped itself by pressing its front paws to the ground, slowly halting until it made a motion that sends sands to her Mudkip's face. It was a Sand Attack! "Mud!" He closes his eyes just in time but it was enough for the Linoone to attack with a Headbutt. "Mudkip!" He cries out and then it uses Tackle! Sending the Mudkip back before he flops to the ground. Haley bit her bottom lip, eyes serious as she looks at the battle before an idea comes. "Pochiko use Water Gun on the ground and dodge when it gets too close, use Water gun at him next!" It was his first battle so he did not react fast thanks to the hits he received from something bigger than him but he dodged at the side from the incoming Linoone, shaking his head to get back on focusing his battle.

Pochiko did what she instructed him to do, shooting a water gun on the ground and dodging the bullet that was Linoone, shooting a Water Gun at its face when it rushed towards him again. "Keep on repeating!" It was a cycle of shooting Water Gun on the ground then dodge and then Water Gun to Linoone, there were signs of both of them getting tired, more so Pochiko, who was almost hit a few time. The normal-type Pokemon, who was had more energy, run again, it was different this time, it slipped and knocked its head on the muddy ground. "Li!" It was its turn to cry out. Thanks to the repeated Water Gun to the ground, it slowly turned into mud, it was Pochiko's turn! Haley grins, "Heh, Pochiko! Go and use Mud Slap!" The Mudkip bounded towards the fallen Linoone, using his tail to dip into the formed mud instead, slapped the rushing Pokemon with it. It hand't recovered from bonking its head so it could not dodge the attack. "Again and again!" Just as she commands, Pochiko used the move over and over until it slumped down with whirly eyes.

The battle was over! Her Mudkip flopped down, trying to bury himself on the muddy ground. "Good job, Pochiko! You were awesome and it's your first battle!" Haley cheered, laughing at their victory. "Mud." Though his answer was calm, he smiled, still feeling the rush of adrenaline. Seeing how tired and dirty her Mudkip is, she recalled him back to his pokeball. "You earned a good rest and a good meal." She says, pocketing the pokeball that now contained her tired starter, she avoided the muddy ground and the their fainted opponent, "Better head to Oldale Town~"

    Oldale Town

After a couple more steps into daylight, Scottie and Treecko arrived in Oldale Town. "Return for now, buddy." Scottie said to his green colored Pokemon. He pressed the button in the middle of Treecko's Pokeball as a bright red light enveloped Treecko and it returned into its Pokeball. "So, this is Oldale Town, huh? Seems pretty simple, just like Littleroot, but with more." Scottie wonders alouds. "It sure is! In fact, why don't I give you a tour?" A random trainer with a blue baseball cap, blue shorts, and a yellow shirt says as he walks up to Scottie. "H-huh? Who is there?" Scottie says worriedly looking around. "Uh, mister. Behind you." The young boy taps Scottie on the shoulder. "Ah!" Scottie says as he turns around and looks at the young boy. "Oh, it's just another trainer. phew." Scottie thinks to himself. "You should know better to sneak up on people like that." Scottie says to the boy. "Sorry, I just wanted to know if I could give you a tour?" The boy asked him. "Sure! I'd like to know what some of these facilities are." Scottie replied. "Well then, let me show you!" The boy said as he took Scottie's hand and lead him around the town, giggling.

"This here is the Pokemon Center. You can come here to rest your Pokemon after they've been in battle. There's a kind person in there who will heal all your Pokemon, for free! There's also a PC in there where Pokemon will go to once you have six already and catch another. Amazing isn't it?" The boy asks. Scottie gulps and nods. "Over here is the Pokemart. You can buy and sell items here for your adventure. I'd recommend it if you are looking to make more cash or are simply trying to buy more Pokeballs to use or Potions." The boy says as he leads Scottie to a building with a blue roof over it. "To the west is the way to Petalburg City, but that place is blocked off for now. My brother happens to be a researcher and he's looking at a pair of unique Pokemon footprints. To the south is obviously Littleroot Town, but you probably knew that. And finally, to the north is another Route." The boy says as he shows Scottie to the entrances to the three routes. "Well, what do you think?" The boy asks Scottie. "It's great! I am sure this will be a good checkpoint in my adventure." Scottie says.

"Cool! Hey, you're one of the trainers chosen by the professor aren't you? Want to have a Pokemon battle?" The trainer asks Scottie. "Sure, I'd love to have my very first trainer battle against you! Especially since you showed me more about being a Pokemon trainer." Scottie said back to the boy. "Alright then, go! Zigzagoon!" The boy says as he throws a Pokeball onto the ground. Immediately a bright red light vanishes as a striped tan and brown Pokemon comes out with a tail. "Go, Treecko! Give it your all!" Scottie says as he throws Treecko's Pokeball onto the ground. A bright red light vanishes again this time revealing a light green colored Pokemon with a darker green colored tail. "Battle, begin!" The trainer says.

"Zigzagoon, use Tackle!" The trainer commands. The Pokemon lunges at Treecko. Before Scottie has time to respond the attack connects, sending Treecko back a little. "Hmm, that's a nice attack to start with, but I can give you one better. Go, Treecko! Use Pound!" Scottie says to his Pokemon. Treecko retaliates at the Zigzagoon by jumping at it and whacking it with its tail into a tree. The Zigzagoon jumps out of the tree and shakes its tail, letting some dew drop water fall off it. "Time to lower that defense. Zigzagoon, use Tail Whip!" The young trainer commands. Immediately the tan and brown striped Pokemon turns around and wags its tail at Treecko. Treecko gives off a creeped out look as its defense goes down. "Treecko, use Quick Attack!" Scottie commands. Treecko picks up speed and rams into Zigzagoon, sending it across the grass onto its back. The Pokemon quickly gets back on its feet.

"Now, Zigzagoon! Use Tackle again!" The boy commands. This time the hit deals even more damage, and Treecko pants hard as it struggles to get up. "Treecko! Use Absorb!" Scottie commands. Treecko uses its third move for the first time. It stands in places with its arms held out as light green orbs comes out of Zigzagoon and go into Treecko. The result heals Treecko's health almost completely due to STAB, and Zigzagoon begins to pant fervently after all the damage it has taken. "Wow, Absorb? No way! I'd expect nothing less from one of the trainers chosen by Professor Birch! We're not going to give up though! Zigzagoon, use Tackle!" The trainer commands. The attack connects, but Treecko gets back up and is feeling great after the Absorb rush. "Time to finish this. Treecko, use Pound! Give it your all!!" Scottie says to his Pokemon. Treecko lunges at the trainer's Zigzagoon who looks up, startled, as the attack connects and a dust cloud forms. After the dust clears, Zigzagoon falls to the ground, fainted.

"Wow, that was an awesome battle! Especially when you commanded your Treecko to use Absorb to help win the battle!" The young trainer commented. "Thanks! I learned from having my first battle in the wild on Route 101." Scottie said back to the trainer. "Well, I got to get back to my brother now. See ya later!" The trainer said. Scottie waved and promised the boy he'd meet up with him later. "Now I've got to go heal my Pokemon..." Scottie thought to himself. He went inside the Pokemon Center and to the front desk where a lady with red hair stood. "Hi, I'm Nurse Joy! I can heal your Pokemon if you want?" The lady asked Scottie. "Yes, please. That would be great." Scottie said as he handed Treecko over to the lady. After a while Nurse Joy came back and gave a great looking Treecko back to Scottie. "He's all healed now! Thanks for waiting! If you'd like a room, you'll need to talk to my assistant." Nurse Joy said, pointing at a girl who looked like she couldn't care less about the world to Nurse Joy's left. "Bye now!" Nurse Joy said as she walked away. "Guess I should get a room then, it's getting pretty late..." Scottie thought to himself.

[And that's the end of Chapter One for me!]

    Hoenn Hard-Mode!
Arrived at destination: Oldale Town. Time: 10:41am.
    "Oh Arceus, not another one!"

"What's up with boring towns?" Was the first thing she says - complain is more like it - as she steps inside the next town after Littleroot Town. Haley dubs thee Little #2. Maybe Hoenn was the only region that had the most small town, ever. This is why she couldn't wait to take off the region after training. Maybe she'd challenge the Elite Four before she does so! Though it was fun bringing life (in her terms) on small towns such as her home. (Even if no one appreciated it. Who cares.) Right now, however, she would slowly die at this rate. Boring.

She whistled a tune merrily, skipping towards the Pokemon Center to treat her first Pokemon. When she was now inside, Haley beeline towards the counter, Nurse Joy greeted her cheerfully. "Hello and welcome to the Pokemon Center! How may I help you?" Haley never bothered to think of the Nurse sarcastically or anything, she just said - "My Mudkip is dirty, he's covered in mud and is tired from his battle, he's hungry too. Would it alright if you may feed him with no charge?" in a surprisingly polite tone, maybe she reaches her blunt uncaring quota for the day or maybe it was Nurse Joy.

Not knowing Haley's personality since they were basically strangers, only oblidged because the teal girl is a trainer, the Nurse replied with the same cheer, "Of course! Don't worry, everything in the Pokemon Center is free of charge! Now then, I'll be taking your Pokemon and treat him right away!" After she handed Pochiko's pokeball and the Nurse going to door where they treated Pokemon, she lounged in one of the chairs, taking a magazine from the magazine shelf, she idly looked at the continents and flipped to the next page when there was nothing interesting she read.

There were only few people in the Center probably because it was morning , there were occasional murmurs - either the people conversing with one another or conversing with the Pokemon that were healthy and out of their pokeballs - but other than that, it was quiet.

...... It was really boring. Before she was sent to the Professor's Town, she spent the time on Verdanturf Town getting bored the day before today and even in the early morning, her mother didn't allow her to do something proactive, saying she would get tired if she did so. Ha! They both knew that she didn't want Haley to get into trouble before becoming a Pokemon Trainer. Psh, it wasn't like she was harmful or something! (That was somewhat a lie, not with the trouble she made all those years.)

And that is why, Haley was really really bored.

Meh, she decided to wait for Pochiko, rest for a bit and go to her should-be-wonderful adventure. Maybe she'd stock on potions just in case. After that she'd either go to the next route or next town or maybe cause a little trouble at afternoon, when the clock strikes 1. She ain't gonna stay here for a day, she still had time!

    ....

    'Ugh, it's so boring!'

"You said this Slakoth guy is your first Pokemon? And you've lost him already? How'd that happen?"

The boy's patronizing blathering had gone on for what felt like several eons. Connie's head was beginning to hurt. The night was do devoid of warmth and comfort. If it weren't for this sharp-eyed idiot beside her, she'd be cowering underneath the consoling lights of the Pokemon Center. The nurses were still fussing inside, as if renting a room was some convoluted process.

She'd learnt something worthwhile from this prattling fool, at the very least. His name was Tobias, a name laced with pretentiousness that Connie had always hated. He had referenced Lumi of the Insect Twins, so she knew he liked comic books, but from his lack of intelligence he assumed he only read for their transformation outfits. He gave off a "I'm-only-with-you-because-you're-pretty" vibe. She wished she had Soliel's sun staff to blast this imbosol to dust.

He was criticizing her again, repeating himself from earlier as if he'd ran out of content to work off of. The stinging night air kept her from replying; Connie was too concerned with keeping warm. She hugged herself and wished her legs were less numb so she could keep searching. Nary a sign of her Slakoth had been found since he abandoned her in the center. Great Groundon, there were so many other things she could have done. Followed her gut feeling and made a beeline for the front door like the Slacker had surely done... Ditched Tobias immediately and not allowed him to tag along... Worn pants instead of shorts to lessen her suffering...

Seriously, if it weren't for her sweatshirt Connie was certain she'd have caught some form of frostbite. She was glad the darkness of the night concealed her face, as it grew redder with her frustration. She was near tears, though if they slipped out, they'd probably become ice cubes before they hit the ground. Her first Pokemon really had slipped away and there was no way to recall him. She'd tried with fruitless results, slamming down on the Pokeball's middle button in hopes her Slakoth was just slip back inside in the form of red light. He was too far for it to work.

"Miss Connie!" Someone called from the Pokemon Center; a nurse with shortly-cut pink hair and a nurse's outfit of similar length that certainly must have made her uncomfortable in the cold. She called from the entrance: "Your room is waiting for you! We apologize for the wait!"

"Better go rest up," Tobias smirked with as much likability as a toad convicted for murder. An irked Connie flipped him a rude gesture before hustling into the center, racked with exhaustion, frustration and overflowing anger.

The nurse stammered some useless apology that she promptly ignored, instead demanding she show her to her room. She must have come across as the hugest bitch in all of Hoenn and Connie regretted it, seeing a wretched look in the woman's bright blue eyes. With a sort of melancholy silence, she was led up the escalator and up towards the room labeled 13. The door slammed behind Connie as she tore out of her adventure clothes and collapsed sobbing on her hotel bed.

It could have been a better start to an adventure.

    Chapter Two: ''Ploughing to Petalburg!!''

    OLDALE TOWN
    Hoenn Hard-Mode!

oldale is located in the south-west of hoenn. it has a trio of exits; the one to the north leads to route 103. the one to the west leads to route 102 and petalburg city. finally, the southerly route leads to route 101 and littleroot. it serves as little more than a checkpoint for trainers in the hoenn region.

you must start in oldale -
you may post as much as you'd like in oldale -
you may interact with and/or battle other roleplayers here via. joint posts -
you may create and control as many npc's as you would like -

    Hoenn Hard-Mode!
    ROUTE 103
route 103 is a relatively wide route, teeming with high ledges. it is on a gentle hill, meaning you have to travel through the tall grass to reach the summit. this route separates oldale town and the crossroads between slateport and mauville cities. this area is not very accessible at the moment, and you really only will come here in anticipation of another encounter for your team.

    - you may travel through the route.
    - you may catch one pokémon on this route
    - you may post as much as you'd like in route 103
    - you must end an attempt to catch a pokémon with the throwing the pokéball

you must start in the pokémon center -
you must collaborate on joint-posts, unless i agree otherwise -
you may not create and control npc's during this mission -

    ROUTE 102
route 102 is the longest route you've encountered thus far. it is flooded with inexperienced trainers and wild pokémon! it links oldale town with the first city, and first area containing a gym of the hoenn region. it has the widest array of pokémon in the rp so far as well, so you have a chance to bolster your team with pokémon that aren't seen as basic or weak!

    Chapter 2

    Oldale Town-Route 103

Scottie walked out of the Pokemon Center into broad daylight as he rubbed his eyes for eyecrusts and looked around. The day looked gorgeous. There were people and Pokemon everywhere, sunny outside, not too hot, but neither a cloud in the sky. "What a perfect day to continue our journey, huh, Treecko?" Scottie asked his green colored Pokemon beside him. "Treecko ko!" Treecko gave an inspiring thumbs up and told him it was ready to go. "Hmm, where to go next. I'm actually not sure where, Treecko." Scottie said. "Treecko ko?" Treecko wondered where they would be heading. Scottie gave it some thought for a while.

After a while of thinking the boy he had met earlier that had given him the tour and battled him walked up to him. "Hey, Scottie! How are you?" The boy asked, smiling and waving. "Great! Never been better." Scottie said, pulling his mind out of his thoughts. "Hey, so my big brother has finished studying those Pokemon footprints and Route 102 is no longer blocked off. It turns out the footprints were fake..." The young trainer said to Scottie. "Oh, well that's a shame about the footprints, but at least it's not blocked off anymore." Scottie said back to him. "Say, I'm not sure where Treecko and I should go next. I just haven't decided yet. Do you know any places?" Scottie asked the boy.

"Ooh, I know a place you and Treecko would just love to explore! Just north of here there's Route 103 and at the top of the hill is a clear view of Mt. Chimney! It's a great sightseeing spot, and I'm sure you'd get to see some new Pokemon and register them in your Pokedex as well!" The boy said back to Scottie with a giddy smile. "Sounds great! We're off to depart that way now!" Scottie said back to him. "We'll see you later! By the way, what's your name?" Scottie asked the boy. "My name? My name is Kevin. I'm sure we'll meet again sometime though. See you later!" Kevin said back to Scottie. Scottie waved and smiled as he prepared to enter Route 103 with Treecko, ready for some adventure.

After walking north for a bit and entering the route, Scottie looked around, amazed at how beautiful it was. "Wow, this is amazing! Don't you think, Treecko?" Scottie asked his green colored Pokemon. "Treecko ko!" Treecko agreed by giving its traditional thumbs up. "Alright, let's go have some fun! Haha!" Scottie said to his Pokemon. They walked north into the tall grass until Scottie stumbled into a Pokemon. "What kind of Pokemon is THAT?" Scottie wondered. It was flying just above the ground and was white colored with a beak and blue stripes on its wings. Scottie proceeded to hold the Pokedex up to it. "Wingull. The Seagull Pokemon. Wingull has the habit of carrying prey and valuables in its beak and hiding them in all sorts of locations. This Pokemon rides the winds and and flies as if it were skating across the sky." The Pokedex read to Scottie.

"Wow, so that's a Wingull! You ready for battle, Treecko?" Scottie asked his Pokemon. Treecko responded by getting into its battle stance. "Battle, begin!" Scottie said. "Wingull gull!" The Wingull squawked angrily at being disturbed in its natural habitat. It quickly let out a small couple circles of light at Treecko. "Oh no, watch out, Treecko! Dodge it, that's Supersonic!" Scottie called to his Pokemon. Using its fast agility, Treecko easily dodged the Supersonic attack by jumping into the air, and then landing back on its feet. "Now, Treecko! Use Pound!" Scottie commanded to his Pokemon. Treecko heard the command and lunged at the Wingull, spinning and then smacking it with its tail. The Wingull was sent back, but then flew back to where it was. The attack did some damage, but not enough to KO it. "Wingull gull!" The Wingull was super angry now as it threw one of its Wings at Treecko. "Watch out, Treecko! That's Wing Attack!" Scottie said to his Pokemon. But it was too late. The attack connected and sent Treecko back into a tree super effectively hurt.

"Treecko ko..." Treecko said as it struggled to get up. "Come on Treecko, get up! I believe in you! You've never let me down before!" Scottie called to his Pokemon. The Wingull then proceeded to fly towards Treecko and picked it up in its mouth, flying across the sky while dealing more damage to Treecko. "Wait, that's it. I've got it!" Scottie thought to himself. "Treecko, use your new move, Mega Drain inside Wingull's mouth!" Scottie called to his Pokemon who was airborne. "Treecko ko!" His Pokemon said and obliged. Wingull tried to drop Treecko, but it was too late. Giant green orbs came out of Wingull while it was still in the air and went into Treecko, replenishing Treecko's health completely. "Wingull gull!" The Pokemon said as it exploded with a dust cloud forming around it in mid air. Treecko fell from Wingull's beak and Scottie caught it, setting Treecko down onto the ground. The opposing Wingull fell to the ground, defeated.

"Awesome job, Treecko! You were amazing!" Scottie said to his Pokemon, hugging it tightly. Treecko grinned and gave a wry smile and a thumbs up. "Now, let's go see what this sightseeing is all about." Scottie said to his Pokemon. They continued to walk together until they made it to the top of the route where a small bush with a circular pond of water stood in it. At the very top of the hill was a glass frame telescope that took Pokemoney and let you get a closer look at Mt. Chimney. "Hmm, want to give it a look with me, Treecko?" Scottie asked his Pokemon. "Treecko ko!" The green colored Pokemon said, wondering about the place it was going to see. Scottie took out some money and put it into the machine, then looked through the eyeglass with Treecko. "Wow, that's amazing!" Scottie said to his Pokemon and Treecko agreed. Directly north far into the distance was a towering, dormant volcano that stood above the main island. Surely that was Mt. Chimney, as none of the other mountains around it even came close to its enormous size.

"I'm glad I got to share this moment with you, Treecko. This will go as a special album in my heart." Scottie said to his Pokemon. "I'm sure we'll get it to explore it even some day." Scottie added. "Treecko ko!" Scottie's green colored Pokemon said back to him with new inspiration for its journey. "Well, let's head back. It's getting late." Scottie said to his Pokemon, noticing that the sun was beginning to set. Scottie walked together with Treecko south and eventually back into Oldale Town. "Let's get you fixed up." Scottie said to Treecko. Scottie walked with Treecko to the Pokemon Center, and went inside. "Hi, would you like me to heal your Pokemon again?" An overly joyed Nurse Joy said to Scottie. "Yes, please. Thank you." Scottie said to the reddish, pink haired lady. He handed Treecko over to her, and after awhile Nurse Joy came back to the front desk with a strong looking Treecko. "Here you go! Treecko is looking fully healthy! Thank you, come back again anytime!" Nurse Joy said to Scottie. "Thank you so much." Scottie said back to her and held Treecko on his shoulder. "Well, before we head to Petalburg City tomorrow, we should get some rest." Scottie said to his Pokemon. Treecko agreed, and Scottie rented out the same room that he had used the previous night using more of his Pokemoney. "Goodnight, Treecko. Thanks for always being there for me..." Scottie said tiredly to his Pokemon as he fell asleep cuddling with Treecko in his arms.

    Hoenn Hard-Mode!
Oldale Rush - Route 101 to Oldale Town

When someone finds some odd electronic device, they have to fiddle with it. Sean and his Snorunt ended up doing just that for hours, even though he was late to begin his journey and wanted to get through the Route as soon as possible. He didn't realize how long he had been at it until Snorunt pointed at his watch and cried, not because she saw the time, but because she wanted to know what it was. It was then that Sean looked at the watch and practically jolted up. He was late! There wasn't really a set time to get there, but he told himself he was late!

He ran through the Route and into the tall grass, where wild Pokemon stood there, confused, instead of attacking. They were too startled to strike as Sean bolted through their habitat. Snorunt couldn't keep up, and when Sean stopped to take a breath, he turned around and saw her. She was engaged in combat with a Zigzagoon who had dared to attack, and was calling for her Trainer. Battling on her own was a tough experience and she didn't want to do it again. Being so young, she wanted guidance. And that was Sean's role.

Luckily, he had learned the moves of his dear Pokemon while fiddling with his Dex during all that time. Sean hadn't remembered them all, but he knew Ice Shard and Weather Ball because Snorunt had used them previously. He would have to check the rest later. He commanded his Pokemon to use the latter, and like before, a white sphere formed in front of her, and it blasted at the Zigzagoon with a trail of white streams, and when it hit the Pokemon, it became enveloped in a light similar to that of the orb. When the light faded, it laid on the ground, unconscious.

Must have been a really weak one, Sean thought as he continued on. Similar small battles with Wurmple and another Zigzagoon took place, but all ended with one or two moves from Snorunt. The strong Pokemon seemed to be hiding, as they were probably smarter than the weaker ones and figured out that they would lose.

It was really uneventful, and Sean arrived at Oldale Town without any important memory of the travel. Snorunt was tiring, so he dashed to the Pokemon Center of the peaceful town before even taking a look around. Panting, he recalled his Pokemon and walked up to the nurse.

Without a word, she took the Poke Ball and returned with a rejuvenated Snorunt. Sean took a seat and began to wonder if he went too fast. He wasn't really late for anything, it was more of a personal deadline. His Snorunt could have recieved more training than she actually did, but he went too quickly to do it. It wasn't too good for her. Whatever. He would make it up on the next Route.

As he looked around, he saw an professor-like man at the opposite corner of the room. Sean could have sword he was looking back at him, but he shook that thought from his head and brought his eyes back down to his Pokemon.

Progress was made. Not much progress, but still progress.

That wasn't too good-quality for my standards, but I really needed to catch up. Sorry.

    Chapter 2: Brand New Day

Jordan wakes up in a tiny, unfamiliar room, confused as to where she is. She panics a little, bolting upright to run for the door. Something falls off her chest and lands in her lap. It's Yogi, who looks around blearily, wondering what's wrong.

"Yogi? Oh, right! I'm in Oldale. I forgot... Sorry, Yogi..." Yogi blinks, letting out a huge yawn. He pokes Jordan's stomach, then points to his own mouth. "Alright, we'll get breakfast. We have a big day ahead of us, after all!" She gets dressed and leaves the little room.

    ☆☆After breakfast...☆☆

As Jordan is returning her key, the nurse stops her. "You're Lillith Jordan, right?"

"Um... just 'Jordan' is fine..." She blushes a little when her first name is used. The nurse just smiles, handing her a box. "This arrived for you this morning."

Jordan instantly perks up. "My package! Thank you!" She takes the box, stepping away from the counter to open it. Inside is her camera, spare batteries, and a solar battery charger, along with an envelope full of money. The envelope is signed "Love, Daddy".

"Look, Yogi! Now we're really ready for our adventure! Smile!" She takes a picture of herself in front of the Pokemon Center, Yogi clinging to her shoulder. She gives him a hug, heading north. "We came in from the south, so we should keep going north! ...that makes sense, r-right?" She looks to Yogi for reassurance, and he nods sagely.

    Route 103

This is a beautiful place, a gentle hill in the middle of the woods next to a wide, but gentle, river. Of course, there was also long grass. Jordan remembers what happened last time she entered long grass, eyeing it nervously. "W-well... it's now or never..." She closes her eyes, stepping into the grass.

Nothing happens. She sighs in relief, looking over at Yogi. "See? Nothing to fear." The wind blows, and something brushes up against her leg. She screams, running as fast as she can, only stopping when she's clear of the grass. She leans against a tree, panting. "Nevermind! Grass is still scary!"

Yogi clings to her shoulder, wondering how he got stuck with a person like this as his partner.

Rather than risk the grass again, Jordan takes a moment to look around the area. She takes a few pictures of the river, then a couple if Yogi meditating. She takes a picture of herself in front of the grass, trying to overcome her fear. She smiles as she looks at the picture, but frowns when she sees something else in the shot behind her. A bird Pokemon of some sort making a silly face, ruining her picture.

Wait... a bird Pokemon? She turns, the white bird hovering right in front of her. "Wii!" Jordan shrieks in surprise, stumbling back. Her scream alerts Yogi, who jumps forward to protect her. "Wait!" Jordan clambers to her feet, taking her position behind Yogi. "I can do this!"

Yogi nods at her, awaiting instructions. "Thunder Punch should finish this quickly! ...wait! I have Pokeballs! Let's catch him! Use Confusion!" Yogi had been about to charge electricity, but instead thrusts his palm forward, projecting a wave of force. Wingull is knocked out of the air, but does a little flip to catch himself.

"Ooh, he's got style!" Jordan is impressed, until Wingull vomits a stream of water into Yogi's face. "...but not class. Ew. Another Confusion, Yogi!" Yogi blasts the bird with another wave, apparently making it mad. It swoops toward Yogi, rising sharply and uppercutting him with one of its wings. The blow knocks Yogi on his back, making Jordan nervous.

"Yogi!" She is about to rush in, but Yogi jumps back up, giving her a thumbs-up. "He's strong! This is my chance! Pokeball, go!" She throws an empty ball at Wingull, scoring a hit and absorbing him into the ball. "Yes!" The ball starts rocking, startling her. "Oh! Stay in there! ...please?"

    Day Two

The day began with sharp, artificial tone splitting the silence and Connie finding herself collapsed headfirst. Head buried in a pillow. Still in her traveling clothes. Sheets still made. Hair in all directions. She probably looked as if she'd fallen asleep during a high. A disheveled Connie Bennati crawled from the unfamiliar bed and dug through her bag of possessions like some crazed Drilbur. Just as she suspected, her phone was making that infuriatingly high noise she hated. Connie had never bothered changing the ringtone because no one ever called her, preferring texts instead.

The only person that did bother to call? Mom and dad.

They spoke before she did. "Connie! Oh, honey! I-I think I should apologize for yesterday. We left on a sour note, I know we did! I shouldn't have pushed you. You're on your own now; I know you think it's stressful and I shouldn't have pushed."

"M-mom..." Misaki was incapable of being the strict parent for over twenty-four hours, it seemed. Not that Connie truly minded. She needed some sweetness at the moment. Yesterday had been a disaster.

"But let's not dwell on that. How was your first day as a Trainer? Nothing disastrous, I hope? You said you'd get to Oldale okay, and I hope that's the case. Um, I'm at work right now and your father and I tried calling earlier but you didn't answer. Your father might call later, probably this afternoon if I tell him."

Oh, she talked so much but Connie never interrupted any of it. She knew her mom hated that. Her voice was a sort of wake-up-call, causing a sudden washing feeling of homesickness. Her eyes were moistening and it was difficult to swallow back her feelings. She spoke shakily into the phone: "T-things... weren't so great yesterday."

    "Really? What happened, sweetie?"

"I... I got my Slakoth but then he kind of... ran away." She bit her lip after forcing it out. Now that she'd spoken it, to Connie, it sounded so trivial. No worth sobbing over. There were other details too, but those seemed even more embarrassing and she felt sick to her stomach.

"What!?" Misaki's voice seemed to crack over the speakers and there was some background noise, a voice telling her to simmer down. She got so wrapped up Connie's problems sometimes, as if they were her own. Immediately, she demanded her daughter evaluate, so she did.

"It just went and crawled away!?"

"Yeah. I dunno why. It moved so fast, I couldn't even catch it."

There was some more furious banter, mostly on Misaki's part. She suggested Connie demand another Slakoth from Birch if they other didn't drag its "furry ass", in her own words, back. "He shouldn't get away with distributing untrained Pokemon like that!"

But, eventually, she had to cool down and return to her florist gig. She left with reluctance and the generic "I love you" but Connie felt almost invigorated by their talk. Misaki was like a cheerleader at a ballgame; her feisty sense of passion was infectious. It rubbed off on her daughter who felt inspired enough to continue her search.

Daylight peeked through the small window of her cozy room. It was dotted with droplets of late night rain and it seemed a light fog tainted the otherwise cloudless sky a grey-ish shade. Nonetheless, the motivated Trainer was undeterred. She learned from yesterday: blue jeans and no shorts. Boots and a rain jacket, over her favorite T-shirt, depicting all canonized members of the Elite Assemble. With that, she departed down the escalator and into the main room of the center.

It was busier than yesterday, though not by much. Some Trainers around her age sat in the scattered chairs and the occasional nurse passed by. Connie made her way towards the automatic door, finding her Slakoth the only thing on her mind. However, a hand caught her arm and she spun around, ready to let a flurry of fists fly into that idiot Tobias' face. Luckily the chubby, rosy-cheeked and pink-haired figure looked nothing like the pestering pervert from yesterday evening.

"Ms. Bennati?" She spoke as if she had leftover peanut butter caught on the roof of her mouth.

"Yeah, that's me." Connie, in an effort to avoid her crystal-blue eyes, focused on her seized arm.

"Follow me, would you? We, uh, found someone that might belong to you." She had kind intentions but dragging her to the counter was unnecessary. Nevertheless, Connie's face flashed like a light bulb when the thinner, indecently-dressed nurse held up a familiar furball.

His pelt was soggy, indicating he'd been rained on. Not to mention, it was abnormally scruffy and bedraggled and the Slacker's claws were stained with berry juice.

"We found him stuck in a thorn bush with a Wingull pecking at him," his holder explained. "We gave the poor guy a Potion or two while you were resting but the effects are wearing off, at this point. We've been waiting for his Pokeball to give him the full healing he probably needs."

The Slakoth seemed unaware of any of the trouble he'd caused. The same nonchalant, overly lax expression hung on his ovular face. It wasn't a dumb or ignorant one, just an uncaring one. It both relieved and deeply aggravated his Trainer. Connie decided he needed a stern talking-to later on. For right now, she'd rejoice that her first Pokemon was gone for good. Though what had even driven him to abandon her in the first place?

"Oh, t-thank you!" she exclaimed. The nurse only nodded, probably still peeved from the behavior presented yesterday evening. She recieved the Pokeball, returned Connie's Slakoth and moved off to the healing machine while the Trainer leaned against the counter, staring out into the mist-heavy Oldale with an inevitable smile.

    Chapter 2: Learning to Fly

    Got Pokemon! (Wingull)

The Pokeball stops shaking with an audible *click!* Jordan looks at it, a smile slowly spreading across her face. "I... I did it. I DID IT!" She grabs Yogi, hugging him close as she does a happy little twirl. Yogi looks annoyed, but he puts up with it.

She goes to grab the ball, Yogi clinging to her shoulder. She opens it, sending Wingull out, who proceeds to hover in front of her, looking at her curiously. "Hello, little guy! I'm Lily, and we're going to be best friends and travel together!" Wingull nods, landing on the ground. He looks at Yogi, extending one wing as if offering a hand shake. Yogi hops down and accepts, the two acknowledging their fight and becoming friends.

Jordan takes a picture of the scene, happy as can be. "Yay!" She picks up Wingull, giving him a hug. "You're just the cutest little water bird I've ever seen! I think I'll call you... Gulliver. Hi, Gulliver!"

Gulliver squawks happily, nestling in Lily's arms. Yogi drops into a meditative pose, but is turned away from the pair. Despite his annoyance with his trainer, he feels a little jealous.

Jordan takes a picture of herself and Gulliver, then holds up a Pokeball. "Yogi? Would you like to rest while Gulliver and I explore the hill a bit?" Yogi looks at her in surprise, but nods. Jordan returns him to his ball while Gulliver perches on her shoulder.

"Alright, let's see what the Pokedex says about you!" She starts reading, going uphill again. She once again forgets to watch where she's going while reading the Pokedex, walking right through the long grass. "So, you know Growl, Water Gun, Supersonic, and Wing Attack. Your primary source of food is fish, but you also eat berries, nuts, and bugs. It says here that Wingull are often found rummaging through open trash cans for food, and will eat almost anything."

She gives him a stern look. "Gulliver, if you ever get hungry, just let me know. I don't want you rummaging through trash for leftovers." Gulliver nods, gently nibbling on her ear. She laughs, not used to her ears being touched. She doesn't even realize that they passed through all the grass without incident, and now stand at the top of the hill.

"Mommy, look! That lady has a bird on her shoulder!" A young child points at Jordan, tugging at her mother's hand. "Is she a pirate? Or a Team Aqua member?" The mother glances up, seeing Jordan. Blue shirt, black pants, Wingull on shoulder... it's possible this girl is Team Aqua. "Don't point, honey. It's rude!"

Jordan can't help but overhear, and she blushes to be the center of attention. Her curiosity overcomes her shyness and she approaches the pair, looking at the ground. "Um... e-excuse me, I didn't mean to overhear, b-but I couldn't help but notice you pointing at me. I'm n-not a pirate, but what's Team Aqua? I... I've never heard of them before..." She trails off, shuffling her feet nervously.

The mother relaxes, sympathetic to Jordan's nervousness. "Oh, I'm sorry. We didn't mean to offend or accuse you. Team Aqua is a group of villains and pirates who do very bad things with Pokemon. They mainly use Water types. She saw your bird, and you're wearing their colors, so we just assumed."

Jordan looks up, but doesn't look the woman in the eye. "Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry you. I'll be sure to dress in less threatening colors from now on. Say goodbye, Gulliver." "Wii!" Gulliver flares his wings, accidentally smacking Lily in the head. The little girl laughs at the silly bird, which earns a smile from her mother. The pair go over to the binoculars, while Jordan decides to discreetly leave the area.

The fastest way to go down a hill is straight down, so Jordan takes off running. The path is lined with short stone walls, which she effortlessly vaults over. This is much faster than the path, and avoids the long grass. However, Gulliver isn't used to such speed, and digs his talons into Lily's shoulder for support.

She reaches the bottom, breathing a little heavier from exertion and wincing in pain. "ow... I need a new shirt. Something with shoulders. I'll have to go shopping in Oldale. But first, let's get to the Pokemon Center. We'll all rest up and get some lunch." "Wii!"

    Chapter 2

    Route 102

Scottie yawned as he stepped out of the Pokemon Center into broad daylight with Treecko beside him. Treecko was beginning to get very fast and powerful, and Scottie liked training him. Treekco proceeded to yawn as well after rubbing its eyes with its paws, just like its owner, Scottie. Scottie looked around and noticed there wasn't much activity going on at the moment. "Hey, Treecko. Are you ready to continue our journey? I'm looking forward to getting to Petalburg City. Maybe we can actually learn something about the gym there!" Scottie said to his green colored companion. "Treecko ko ko!" Treecko said with approval giving a thumbs up. Scottie laughed and then headed west through the entrance to Route 102.

"Wow, this is amazing!" Scottie said as he looked around. Everywhere, there were plenty of different wild Pokemon and trainers roaming about. The nature of the place looked nice too as there was plenty of growth, trees, tall grass, and a pond to the north. "Let's go explore the pond. Want to, Treecko?" Scottie asked his Pokemon. Treecko only nodded in approval as they walked north and looked at a small pond in the northeast corner of the route. "Wow, that water is so clear!" Scottie said to Treecko. Treecko agreed.

Before they could move on though, a green and blue colored Pokemon stuck its head out of the water and spit some water at Treecko with an angry look on its face. "Treecko ko!" Treecko said, slightly agitated while shaking the water off. "Wow, I wonder what Pokemon THAT is." Scottie wondered aloud. He proceeded to hold the Pokedex up to the Pokemon who was blue and slimy on the bottom and had a green leaf hat. "Lotad, the Water Weed Pokemon. Lotad live in ponds and lakes, where they float on the surface. It grows weak if its broad leaf dies. On rare occasions, this Pokemon travels on land in search of clean water." The Pokedex read back to Scottie. "Wow, so that's a Lotad! Ready to battle, Treecko?" Scottie asked his Pokemon. Treecko responded by getting in its battle stance once again as the Lotad readied an attack.

Lotad got real angry and proceeded to bump into Treecko with a purple aura, making Treecko flinch as Lotad hopped back into the water. "Wow, that was Astonish! But this is no time for slowing down. Treecko, use Mega Drain!" Scottie commanded to his Pokemon. Treecko began to suck giant green orbs out of Lotad that went back into Treecko, dealing normal STAB damage since Lotad was both a grass and water type. Lotad shook it off though and proceeded to heal its self some by splashing in the water. "Lotad tad!" The Pokemon said in anger. "Darn, that didn't work too well since it can cover its self... Got to think of something else..." Scottie thought to himself. Lotad proceeded to unleash a natural light that turned Purple and hit Treecko, super effectively hurting Treecko and knocking it back into a tree. "So that was Natural Gift, and I bet that was a Poison type one since Lotad was holding an Oran Berry. Treecko, get up! I believe in you!" Scottie called out to his Pokemon. Treecko got up, but it was in bad condition at the moment.

Treecko struggled as it had bruises on it from being hurt super effectively. "I've got to think of a way to end this battle, but how?" Scottie wondered as he thought to himself. Then he looked at the pond and an idea came to light. "I've got it!" Scottie thought aloud. "Treecko, hop into the water and latch onto Lotad!" Scottie commanded to his Pokemon. "Treecko ko!" His Pokemon said. It was a little confused at first, but then got the idea. Treecko jumped into the water and grabbed onto Lotad, not letting go. "Now Treecko, use Mega Drain!" Scottie called out to his Pokemon. Once again Treecko began to suck giant green orbs out of Lotad and hurt it badly, but this time Lotad wasn't able to heal and the attack was amplified as the natural water around them boosted the grass type attack tenfold. An explosion occurred, and when the dust cleared Lotad had fainted. Treecko jumped off of Lotad and stood in front of Scottie, proud of its self.

"Wow, awesome job, Treecko! Haha!" Scottie said as he picked up his Pokemon and hugged it. "Ready to continue our adventure?" Scottie called to his Pokemon. "Treecko ko!" Treecko responded, and Scottie put Treecko down as they continued to walk through the rest of the route together. Eventually they got near the end, and all of a sudden Scottie bumped into a trainer with blue shorts, a blue baseball cap, and a yellow shirt. "Hey, Kevin! How are you doing?" Scottie asked the boy he had met in Oldale Town. "Great! My team has gotten stronger and I've caught a new Pokemon as well. Want to battle?" Kevin replied to him. "Sure, let's do this. Battle, begin!" Scottie said. "Go, Treecko!" Scottie added as Treecko hopped in front of Scottie, ready for another battle. "Alright then. Go, Zigzagoon!" Kevin called out his main partner Pokemon as he threw a Pokeball onto the ground and out came the signature brown and tan striped Pokemon.

"Zigzagoon, use Baby-Doll Eyes!" Kevin called to his Pokemon. Zigzagoon made an adorable face first as Treecko looked into its eyes and its attack stat got lowered. "So I see you've learned some new moves. So have we, though." Scottie said. "Now, Treecko! Use Mega Drain!" Scottie called to his Pokemon. Treecko obliged and began to suck giant green orbs out of Zigzagoon. The attack did major damage as Zigzagoon was sent back on its feet and tried to recover. "Hehe, now for our secret weapon. Zigzagoon, use Headbutt!" Kevin called to his Pokemon. Zigzagoon charged at Treecko full force with its new, powerful move ready to inflict some heavy damage. "Treecko, dodge it!" Scottie called to his Pokemon. But it was too late. Zigzagoon headbutted Treecko in the stomach hard and Treecko was sent into a tree. "Get up, Treecko! I believe in you!" Scottie called to his Pokemon. Treecko got up hastily, not ready to lose just yet. "Now, Treecko! Mega Drain one more time!" Scottie called to his Pokemon. Treecko obliged and latched onto Zigzagoon like it had with Lotad, sucking more giant green orbs out of the Pokemon. An explosion occurred and as the dust cleared Zigzagoon had fallen to the ground, fainted.

"Return, ZIgzagoon. You did a great job." Kevin called to his Pokemon as he returned it. "So, you've beaten my main Pokemon. I have one more now though, and it won't be as easy to beat! Go, Ralts!" Kevin shouted as he threw a Pokeball onto the ground. A short white Pokemon with green for the top of its head and a pink thing running through the middle came out. "So that's a Ralts, huh?" Scottie wondered aloud. He picked up his Pokedex and read the description. "Ralts, the feeling Pokemon. Ralts senses the emotions of people using the horns on its head. This Pokemon rarely appears before people. But when it does, it draws closer if it senses that the person has a positive disposition." The Pokedex read to Scottie. "Okay, Treecko! You ready?" Scottie called to his green colored Pokemon. "Treecko ko!" Treecko said, ready for battle.

"Okay, Ralts. Use Disarming Voice!" Kevin called to his Pokemon. Ralts let out a voice that dissipated in hearts and hit Treecko hard, sending Treecko back some. "Treecko, hang in there! Now, use Mega Drain once again!" Scottie calls to his Pokemon. Treecko sucks giant green orbs out of Ralts, fully replenishing its health and damaing Ralts badly, sending it back. "Hang in there, Ralts. Use Confusion!" Kevin calls to his Pokemon. Ralts obliges and launches psychic waves at Treecko, knocking it back into a tree. "Get up, Treecko! I know you can do it! I believe in you!" Scottie says to his Pokemon. Treecko gets up, but its eyes are cross-eyed and it struggles to keep its composure. "Oh no, you've been confused!" Scottie says aloud. "Hehe, we can use this to our advantage." Kevin says. "Treecko, please! You can do this! I know you can! Just focus and use Mega Drain! Now!!!" Scottie calls to his Pokemon. Treecko looks weary, but is able to focus long enough to hit Ralts with one more Mega Drain. The startled Ralts gets caught in the attack and an explosion occurs. When the dust clears, Ralts is on the ground, fainted.

"Yes, we did it Treecko! I'm so proud of you! Haha!" Scottie says as he runs up to his Treecko and picks it up, hugging the already dazed Pokemon. "Return, Ralts. You did good for your first battle." Kevin said as he pressed the middle button on Ralt's pokeball and it went back inside as a bright red light vanished around it. Kevin then proceeded to walk up to Scottie and put a hand on his shoulder. "Scottie, you did very well for your second battle against me. You've shown me the deep bond between your Treecko and you. Make sure to never forget that bond." Kevin said to Scottie. "Thanks, Kevin! I won't forget." Scottie said back to him. "Well, I got to get going. I'll see you later!" Kevin says as he runs away smiling and waving. "Bye, Kevin! May we meet again sometime!" Scottie waves and smiles too, departing from Kevins company. "Are you ready, Treecko? Petalburg City is just up ahead." Scottie asks his Pokemon. "Treecko ko!" Treecko says with is signature confidence. Scottie and Treecko walk hand in hand, heading into into Petalburg City as a bright white light envelops them in harmony.

[And that's the end of Chapter 2 for me! :)]
