Hoenn Remakes?

Well, it's true that it has followed a trend:

Gen III - RSE, FRLG
Gen IV - DPPt, HGSS
Gen V - new gen, Hoenn remakes?

Well, we'll see I guess. I think that we'll be seeing the new gen late this year (or perhaps next year), and then the '3rd' version of that game (Crystal, Emerald, Platinum) a bit later on, and the Hoenn remakes a year after that. At least another 2 years before we see them. I'd personally be all for it though, I was one of those that hoped that Hoenn might be in HGSS. Hoenn was a brilliant, diverse, nice-looking region. Might just not be taking my nostalgia goggles off but I definitely enjoyed it more than the horrible disappointment known as Sinnoh.

I don't see why a lot of the fanbase dislike R/S/E. For me it gains a lot of brownie points for introducing unique Pokemon designs and a region detached from Kanto and Johto, thus making it a region in its own right. In my opinion Hoenn is also as good as, or if not better than Johto. While Johto felt wonderful to travel around due to nostalgia and its Japanese culture, I love how effort was made to accentuate the tropical climate and unique locations of Hoenn. Who would've even thought of a town built on treetops or logs on the sea, not to mention a sooty Route by an active volcano? The only problem I agree on with most people is that there was too much ocean to surf across in eastern Hoenn. Then again, I did love diving underwater!

I would welcome remakes of R/S in the 5th Generation if they were made as, despite the fact that they're still graphically very good, they fail to keep up with the beauty of the DS graphics. I can only imagine how colourful Hoenn would be in HG/SS graphics. :o

If they remake FR/LG in Gen V i'm going to scream. SERIOUSLY, what is the point in having Kanto in EVERY generation? Yes, it was the first region, but man, they don't need to include it in every generation!

In RBGY, it was fine, obviously.
In GSC, if you think about it, was it REALLY needed for anything else than making the game last longer?
FRLG were remakes of Red and Green, so obviously Kanto was in those games
And of course Kanto had to be in HGSS too because Kanto was in GSC.

If they put Kanto in Gen V too, well.. then people who's played all the games are going to get sick of it soon.

In Gen V, what they should do (in my opinion) is create an entirely new game (like they always do when there's a new generation) and remake RSE. FR/LG does not need a remake before Gen VI to be honest. Pretty much everyone here on PC has played through Kanto god knows how many times, and it wouldn't hurt anyone going through Gen V without Kanto.

I expect all odd-number generations to include remakes of other odd-number remakes, and visa-verse with even number generations. So, while I theorize a Pokemon Amber and Jade followed by a Pokemon Turquoise to compromise the new generation, there would also be a LandRuby and SeaSapphire. But instead of remaking FireRed and LeafGreen again, I'd say they should make WaterBlue and/or ThunderYellow as remakes of Pokemon Blue and/or Yellow. I'm confident that all future generations of RPG Pokemon games will incorporate the ability for your Pokemon to follow your character in the overworld, but I'd like to see a new plotline with that Pikachu. For example, maybe you should first start out with a Pichu instead of a Pikachu. Instead of levels dictating when Pichu/Pikachu learns moves/evolves, Pikachu would have a strict friendship meter. Only after you met certain requirements (such as defeating the Elite Four with Pikachu), then will your Pikachu be comfortable to evolve into Raichu. One of the best aspects of Pokemon Yellow was the ability to obtain all three starters. I'd like to see that again, but only under unusual circumstances.

It's always a fans' dreams that they will introduce a generation that includes Sinnoh-Shinto-Johto-Tohjo-Kanto connected to Sevii Island and Hoenn...

The new system thing Im unsure about. Were not ready for a new system yet. xD I just got my DSi. If they do decide to keep the games on the DS, like you said they have to improve their graphics big time. Im all for the sprites to be more animated when they attack. I would love to see Blaziken open its mouth and use flamethrower. We really wont find anything out about these remakes in lets say 2 years at the most. xD I can imagine game freak thinking of ideas right now.
