how do I make sprites?

This should've been asked in the Art areas I think... o.o;

And it's really small and tedious work as far as I know - I personally can't sprite to save my soul.

True dat. I believe sprite making can be categorized into 3 sections:

Recolors: The easiest level for sprite making. This is where all beginners should start. Recolors are simply sprites that have been modified into different colors. Advanced recoloration may contain 8-bit sprite enhancing, shade reversing, etc.

Edits: This is the next step up for spriters, probably the most commonly seen. With edits, you take an existing sprite, recolor it if you want, and edit things on it to change its structure around a little. Advanced editing can contain using an existing sprite as simply a body structure and basically "remapping" it, fusing together parts of sprites, etc.

Freehands: These are very difficult to make... heck I can't even make these very good. Freehands are completely original sprites, without a base structure or anything. With these, you simply start with a graphic editing program (i.e. MS Paint) and just start designing it. It can take hours to make a sprite sheet by this method. Expert spriter material.

Hope that gives you a little head start ^^;;

This area is for questions about the institute only. ^_^; It?s been moved to Mixed Art.

I will do a tutorial soon to how to mix/fusion/recolour Pkmn and Trainer sprites... just wait...

Heres a sprite I made. A fusion.(If u can c it. Ive had troubles at the spriters club about em not showin up)personally I like to recolor the best. I think you should get 2 pkmn sprites from https://www.pokevista.com/images/all_pokemon. There you find all the pkmn sprites. Do u have MS paint? Open 2 of em, get 2 pokes open em in seperate files, Copy em and paste em in the different window, then take the eyedroper and take light colors to the light parts on the poke. Kinda simple.

I think it's simple, I edit and recolor, I can't make my own sprites yet, lol. PM me if you need any help ^_^

Good jokestr2004! Now... Take the fusions categories:

Blast: Fusing a lil' pkmn with a big one! (e.g.: Tyranitar with Weedle)

Fusion: A Fusion... (e.g.: Umbreon with Fearow)

Super Fusion: Using three or more Pkmn! (e.g.: Cradily, Milotic and Pidgeot)

Recolour Fusion: Any of the above... but recolored! (e.g.: Houmdoom, Absol and Jolten fused, colored with blue!)

Remember to take care with the shedding! Darker parts shall be darker ;)

Hope that helps too!
