How fast can you type?!

I'm a slow typer. I thought I'd at least be somewhat decent at it, but when I read about complete sentences without typos being written in just a few seconds... I'd need at least 15 for that. 10 to type, and another 5 to find and correct (in case I find them) typos. I always make a ton of them.

Decent speed, I guess.
I look at the keyboard while I type because I can.
I also type using just my index, middle, and ring fingers.
I only use my pinky to hold down shift to make a word capitalized.

I don't use this 'home row' stuff that they try to teach you to.
My fingers flail around randomly, but i'm fast with it so it works.

I'm pretty fast at typing and though I know where all the keys are, I can't help but looking for the most part at the keyboard. It's a habit I'm trying shake off.
Annoyingly, the keyboards at school have keys closer together and more raised than the ones on my laptop, so I make loads of mistakes whenever I'm doing work on the computers.

Strange, the test I just took said that apparently 36WPM is the average. I'm not sure what they are basing these statistics on anyway.
Strange indeed. Well, Wikipedia says:
- In one study of average computer users, the average rate for transcription was 33 wpm, and 19 wpm for composition.
- An average professional typist reaches 50 to 70 wpm, while some positions can require 80 to 95.

You'll notice they both say 'average X'; confusion no doubt ensues as the statements are paraphrased about.
I don't know about you but I'm a practically constant computer user, so 'professional speed' is normal for me/us. Your 'average user' would be persons whom use a computer maybe only for two hours a day.
I imagine the average WPM rate is increasing over time too, as people are now using computers regularly from childhood, and us pre-existing folk are becoming more experienced; so an average taken in 1999 would be different (ie. slower) to one taken today.

I've never had a problem with my typing, but I know I'm not the fastest typer. Although, I can easily type without looking at the keyboard. Muscle memory ftw

I got 76 WPM, with 4 errors so adjusted to 72 WPM. Imma try a second time... and I got 68 without any errors.

Apparently, I type better with typos.

I always touch type and have been doing so for years pretty much. The first word I ever learnt to touch type was my first username here, "simpsonqueen" and now it's really easy to type. Same goes for Forever, which is a pretty common word and I seem to type that the fastest of all words. Though in general, for the words I type a lot, I seem to type them pretty fast, so that isn't that bad really. I have a habit of putting commas everywhere, so that's why I didn't do as good as I wanted on the speed test site, lol. And irl, I have a faster speed than anyone else I've ever typed around. I remember in high school everyone was like "how can you type that fast without looking at the keyboard with minimal typos?" and... to me it's always been pretty easy I guess. I'm glad I can touch type, because it makes typing a lot more easier for me. It also helps that when I'm not using a computer and I want to know where a key is, I just pretend I'm typing something (in air) and touch typing kicks in so that I know what I'm actually typing and where the keys are. :D

A letter a year.

Nah, probably moderately fast, just to be accurate of what im typing. XD

Moderately fast, I'm still working on it. Working on being fast, that is. I guess this whole thing took me about 20 seconds.

Depends on what I'm typing, really. I'll go faster if I'm writing off the top of my head as opposed to writing something off of paper, and if I go back to fix typos as I go, I slow down a bit. I've hit 110 WPM before, on some typing programs. On average, I'd probably say between 60-80? I'm really fast, but often it's ridden with typos. > _<

I never clocked myself, but I type fairly fast. If I'm typing in a video game chat thing, the necessity of typing fast is required otherwise the other team will get a boom-headshot. In a more formal setting, I type slower but there are less mistakes and the grammar/capitalization is better.

I never measured how fast I can type, but it's pretty fast. Although I type fast, I make like a gazillion grammatical mistake, and I have to edit most of them when I finish. When I want to type something serious, I usually take my time and try to add as many good vocabulary words as I can to sound smart.

I type much faster than most people. I don't know how to "measure" how long it takes me to type because I usually am thinking at the same time as I type..

Weird fact about me, though.. is that I only type with 3 fingers unless I have to use Shift or Backspace, and then I use a fourth finger momentarily. I almost never look at my keyboard, too.. I just.. "know" where the keys are.. lol.. even though I only use my middle finger on my right hand to type..

But yeah.. I type really fast.. which is freaky..

Haha :3

All you people at 70 odd make me feel small now...

I think my typing speed was about 30-40wpm that I checked last and I know I haven't got any faster than that because I just fail at typing even though I'm pretty fast compared to some people I know in real life. The reason I'm so slow is because I make multiple mistakes repeatedly and I like to sound out the word I'm typing in my head whilst typing it to get the right spelling so it is at least sort of decent to read.

I am pretty slow I guess. I have to look at the keyboard when I type lol. I have tried and tried to type without looking and using ALL of my fingers, not just my first two fingers.... Cant do it without heaps and heaps of mistakes..... That really sucks as in the future everyone will have to learn how to type really fast. I can type words that are always used really fast though.

I can type like 27 words per minute, but I am only 10.
