Do you think Pokemon will last?
I mean, how many more generation/seasons/etc. Do you think Nintendo will spit out? With the 5th Gen underway, it makes me wonder how many more generations will Pokemon be creating. Honestly, I think they have enough to just rerun the entire series in syndicate and just keep selling spin-offs and other paraphernalia, but then I realize, that eventually people will become bored and demand an update or new releases or something, because no matter how hard you try some people just can't be pleased.

But I just wanted to know, how long do you guys think this will last. Till the day you die? The end of time? There's a big possibility, especially at the rate the series is going now, happy to say its one of the longest running series, from the 90's (Along with Sesame Street) that's still running strong to this date, but don't you just ever wish or wonder when/if it will ever stop?

atleast 10 gens haha as long as the gens keep ringing in the big bucks

I think it's a fair claim to not be pleased with only spin-offs and no new main series games.

Pokemon is like any other game series. It won't end as long as it sells. And if someone no longer likes it, they should just move on, not wish for it to stop so that no one else can enjoy it.

If they keep making stupid looking pokemon like Magnezone, Rhyperior, Magmortar, Electivire, pretty much all those bad evolutions they added, then I fear not too much longer.

One fan's "bad evolution" is another's treasured team member. *hugs her Gallade*

At any rate, I second Myles: the Pokemon franchise will continue to go on as long as it continues to make profits and quotas. And if folks don't like what new things are produced, then they can just quit being fans. It's not that hard and makes room for newer fans/fans who've been in it since the beginning.

And yeah, occasionally I do wonder how much longer it will continue, but it doesn't worry me too much. When it stops, it'll stop, and I'll look back and remember that I had a good time while Pokemon lasted.

We can't really predict its end. We can only really make a good assumption when sales start to decrease. Still, when Pokemon lost a lot of its popularity in Gen 3 and many people anticipated its end the franchise still dished out Gen 4, and picked up a lot fans with it. But then again, many other video-game companies would love to sell as many copies as RSE, as it still sold phenomenal amounts.

Once people stop buying is when Pokemon will start dying. (lolrhyme) It's annoying that many people think _ generation is the end. Every single generation people think it's the end of an insanely profitable franchise, can't we just enjoy it while it's here? :/

I don't really know how long it will last, but I can't really fathom the idea of having 9,000+ Pokemon. ._. It has to end somewhere.

I think Pokemon will probably last just as Super Mario has. We'll all be old grandparents talking about how simple Pokemon was "in our day." lol

"Sonny, I remember when I was your age, we used to only have 151 pokemon, and there wasn't even a physical/special split until 4 generations in, oh those were the good old days...."

    lol, its gonna be strange.

    @Joehat: nice pic. I would love a money-printing DS.

I think it would be cool if there was a game based off of Pokemon breeding. Kind of a Hey you, Pikachu/Nintendogs mix. I would definitely buy that. And why not throw some anime breeder into it.

Those evolutions have to be the worst in the whole franchise IMO. Their previous forms shouldn't have been given a third stage. The same would go for Lickilily. I like the 4th generation new pokemon however.

As long as Gamefreak keep making money off it, then new generations will appear every so often.

They might run out of ideas, but it isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

I have a feeling Pokemon still has many many years left in its lifespan

    You're awesome, I like you.

I usually just figure that by the time it ends I probably won't care and forget about it.

Now, to go catch myself a Magnezone to replace my Rotom...

Nobody knows when it will end... Maybe after the 7th or 8th gen. they will get tired of pokemon and they will create something new that will be as popular as pokemon in these days... but nobody really knows
