How old do you have to be . . .

    how old would you say you should be when you stop playing pokémon because lets face it, above the age of 10 9/10 people would call you a freak or something. I asked this because I'm thinking about getting the new gold/silver, or some form of rom as I no longer have a ds.

    Also there is only me my age 15, thats plays it any more near me. I'm only playing a rom silver atm.

    So how old is to old to be playing it as a proper game if you get what I mean. Like it to be your most popular game.

    I agree with the post above. There are 20 year olds on PC, and they haven't quit yet.
     
    What they said. Age is just a factor. Really, if you're old as hell, you can still play Pokémon.​
     
    I think I'll play it till I'm 30 years old, but not as I play now... I mean, now I can play it a whole day if I want, because I don't have such responsabilities. When I'm 20 I'll start working so playing pokemon won't be a pastime anymore, just for a few minutes for nostalgic reasons.

    OMG, by that Moment I would be saying: "Ahh, good old times. I remember me playing those old pokemon platinum and heart gold. Now Pokemon Shining Ruby has 10 years from its release. xP
     
    People go through stages. I played Pokémon when I was younger, then, through Jr. High and a lot of high school, I pretty much thought it was stupid, as did most of my friends. Now, though, I've gotten back into it, and most people my age (19) either play it or remember it fondly.
     
    I met a 50-year-old woman who played Pokemon once.

    So yeah, I'd so there is no stopping age. I mean, people like what they like.
     
    Don't mind what other people tell you, if you enjoy playing Pokemon, play Pokemon.
    It's your choice.
     
    There's no age limit..
    as long as you enjoy it, then you could be 100 and still be playing it.
    People don't really care about it as much as you think. :D
     
    Yeah, society used to aim games towards a specific, young age group but nowadays gamers aren't rare anymore, middle aged women play games, old men play computer games in basements, kids neglect homework to finish off the gym leader, etc.

    Pokemon specifically? I think once you become a teenager at 13ish people start to get really obsessed with looking "cool" and such, but really there is no age. I've been into Pokemon for 7 years since I was 10 and I have no other person in my entire highschool who would openly chat to me about EV training, card battling and breeding specific combinations.

    Why be like everyone else when you can be yourself?
     
    Don't bother about the others.. are the professional gamers and the one's who created pokemon babies..? they are in their 20/30 and 40s too... people who say that pokemon are for kids are people who think doing things like swearing having a girlfriend/boyfriend and smoking engaging in other stupid activities dressing/shopping/watching gore makes them big then i say they are sick meh* >.< i'd say i'd continue playing as long as i like, i admit when we grow up we have other things to do.. but i don't think there is any age limit for playing games atleast for pokemon, i mean it's not that childish.
     
    I'm 27 and have regularly played Pokemon since I got Pokemon Red on release day in the UK. I am even creating one of my own. I don't foresee a time when I won't play Pokemon games.
     
    I started when I was 7 years old..

    Now I'm 15 and I understand the game much better. I have grown up with it, so there's no reason to stop for me. It's a brilliant game and it will always be. So I think there's is no limit.

    Pokémon is like Legos. The age on the box should read "For ages 1-100." Though I'm sure there's someone over 100 that plays Pokémon somewhere...
     
    In answer to EVs and stuff thats the main thing I've realised as I've gotten older to there is such a competitive side to playing.

    I still only play for fun usually though.
     
    Who cares what other people say, Pokemon is fun! I get called a freak or a loser all the time, it's not going to stop me from playing. <3
