There are many Pokemon board games but ones that are really Pokemon game based board games are very hard and favour the lead player so much. There are also the rethemed board games like Monopoly or the Pokemon card game in box. There is a mythical fan game that no details exist of. For me I thought a board game would have full computer rules with large pokedex enabled by a special calculator with the following features gym leaders give you a special move (HM) that allows access to a wider range of pokemon, no shop, pokecentres and you have a map modeled on say Pokemon Red. What do you think a Pokemon board game should be like?

It sounds like you're basically describing Mario Party, but Pokémon. Which could definitely be fun, Pokemon does have the range to deal with that.

But if we're talking some more appropriate for analog play, I suppose it can be hard to define. I guess something Game of Life ish?

Favors something more complex and likely longer than most would like. Imagines multiple decks of cards. Draws from the green-backed cards in Viridian Forest, the brown-backed cards in Mt Moon, the yellow-backed cards north of Cerulean City, and so on. Probably wants maybe fifteen individual decks of these.

Made a quick mock-up of a card in Paint.

    - HP: Amount of hitpoints. Recovers all health after battle.
    - Catch: Rolls a six-sided die to catch it. Must roll equal or higher than the Catch number. Receives an additional 1d6 for Great Ball and 2d6 for Ultra Balls. (Perhaps require you to roll equal or higher than (Catch - missing hitpoints)?)

Flips a coin to see who attacks first (or have a Speed number). Always chooses wild Pokemon's highest-listed attack for its action (Spark, in this case). Heals all damage (except fainting) after combat.

Occasionally faces a trainer instead of a wild Pokemon. Draw X Pokemon from the deck, as dictated by the trainer card. Receives money for winning. Uses that for Pokeballs and healing items.

May visit a town to heal fainted Pokemon and buy items.

Races to defeat the Elite Four and Champion. Draws their team from their own personal decks. Wins by defeating the champion.

Obviously needs refining. Left out gym leaders, evolutions, switching, and other things. Came up with this in a few minutes, though. Conveys the idea, hopefully. Mashed together the TCG and Arkham Horror, more or less.

After some thought, how about just battling pokemon in an arena where you can tell your pokemon to move around. You could have 1 or 2 player. Random arena layout card. Random items in the arena. An event card that could disrupt or enable what you want your pokemon to do. The Pokemon moves would need a lot of adjustment. Any other game that is bit like that?
