I'm not a perfect singer by any means, but I definetely know that I was a treasured and extremely important member of my high school choir. My choir teacher basically forced me to try out for All-State Choir (which I never made.. because my voice isn't a "blending voice".. it stands out). I did make an honor choir in 8th grade, I believe it was. I was basically forced to be part of the chorus for the fall play my freshman year of high school, and I had to belt out a solo when I played a "supporting character" in Little Shop of Horrors my Junior year.
Also.. I was forced to participate in almost every octet, quartet, and solo groups for small group/solo contest, as well as large group contest, which is held in our city every spring (Except for senior year.. because I was failing Algebra so misreably that I couldn't do any extracurricular activities for the last three months.. which really made me mad... )
A lot of it comes from the fact that I've been playing piano since I was 4 years old, and coincidentally my ears are trained to this "perfect pitch" kind of thing.
I can tell right away when someone is sharp or flat, or if an instrument is out of tune.
It's actually quite annoying.. I don't like having perfect pitch sometimes. : /
Anyway..
wow... I wrote a lot.
