Hunger

[PokeCommunity.com] Hunger
Hunger is a pretty central part of the Mystery Dungeon games. They can make the difference between a successful excursion and disastrous one. To counteract this, you need to eat food, berries, etc.

What do you think of the hunger system in the Mystery Dungeon games? Would you like to see it elsewhere?

Hunger is VERY annoying i remember running out of Apples....and let's just say that it didn't go very well :(

Hunger is literally the hardest part of the PMD games for me. I always seem to be hungry during the worst times, and I never have enough food for myself.
I've had to leave some of the big dungeons a lot simply because of hunger. :(

You know, this does leave me wondering how it is that characters in the main series games live for themselves without the proper food and drinks. :P And I know there are certain items that Pokémon can use like those.

But I will admit that it was alright when they removed the hunger mechanic from most of Gates to Infinity, so having it back will be unusual. They might bring some different food items than just apples and gummis, though. How about meats? :P

I honestly hate it. It adds tedium to an otherwise casual and fun little handheld serious for seemingly no real good reason. I'd understand if it was something more survival based, like Don't Starve, but... it just doesn't feel like it belongs here. It almost made me give up on Blue Rescue Team, though I DID stick through it.

Dark Cloud (non-Pokemon) is another game that has a similar concept; thirst. It's the first game I ever played with a meter anything like this, and... I hated it then, too. I adore Dark Cloud, but that really, REALLY hurts the experience.

Sorry to anyone who likes these kinds of mechanics... I just don't. Like... at all. They add nothing but tedium and frustration for me.

Me: *walks several dungeons floors and reaching final destination*
*Hunger level is low/critically low*
Me: *check item for apples*, *realize forget to supply some apples* DAMN IT!!

Yeah that's how I would react if my hunger is below 20 or 10 and I find irritating enough just to much on gooey-fied food just to keep me up.

I've always hated this feature. It was always inconvenient and annoying. Although, I suppose that is why they implemented it. Still, it kinda ruined the games for me.

I think it added realism to the games and added another mechanic to make the game more challenging. :V Then again I play quite a few other roguelikes and I'm used to mechanics like this anyway, and seeing hunger removed in Gates to Infinity irritated me. (iirc, it's back in Super, which is good)

It's not realistic, it's more like a limitation. This is one of the mechanics that I really hate from the Mystery Dungeon series! Unfortunately, they are bringing it back on the latest installment.

I do not wish to see this mechanic in any Pokémon games again, particularly the core ones. Just no.
