    More like 8 million in the U.S., I can't imagine 30 million lol ._.

My boyfriend lives in an area that I hear got hit pretty hard, so I'm just hoping he's okay. He lost power last night and he lost signal too, pretty worried.

    *hugs* don't worry,i'm sure he's fine...stay strong for him ^^

do you know what coasts did that storm hit?

Death toll is currently at 33. Pray that everyone can stay safe and avoid any more tragedies.

The east coast but it's moving inland; the eye of the storm is over Pennsylvania now and the entire northeast and half of the Midwest is being impacted atm.

Here is cold as hell, we're getting some of Sandy's wind at 30 mph with gusts around 50 and it's already like 40 degrees. When I checked with wind chill earlier it was 24 u_u

oh!okay now i'm worried too!!....here where exactly if i may ask??

it's kinda warm here there is some nice wind yeah but it's still not THAT cold!

The worst of it was on the coast of New Jersey and New York, northern Jersey in particular. The eye passed over my mom's house about 40 miles off the coast but the winds were hardest on the north side of the hurricane so with a combination of that and her underground electricity lines she was perfectly fine haha.

My aunt sold a house in an area of NY last year that this year is now both flooded and caught fire during the hurricane. Really dodged a bullet there...

so your mom is doing okay?

i can call that pure luck however i don't believe in luck lol

I've just regained power at my place, & the first thing that I did was come here. I thought that I would never get back on until this week is over.

Still, this hurricane, or to give it a better term, nor-easter, did a number to the house & especially our immediate surroundings, even though we've dodged the brunt of it. Our fiberglass roof covering our deck got ripped clean off, some of the shingles from our garage roof got shorn off as well. But what was most scary was that several trees got destroyed or even uprooted altogether! That was the first thing that I saw come this morning, & I was like, "This is insanity!"

Bad thing is, this rain isn't supposed to stop until Thursday...

    39 dead as of now.

Freakin amazing storm.. Winds uprooting trees AND earth, asphalt, homes.. Snow in mountain areas.. Flooding (though that one was expected). Sandy caused property damage like an angry woman.

Heart goes out to those who lost anyone.

Maybe now that the economic and structural damage is so clear more people will believe in climate change.

Katrina seems to have been ironically kind of good for this because it's taught us some lessons about how bad these storms can be.

Just got in touch with my boyfriend in northern Jersey, he's saying that most roads are closed, tons of trees are down, almost no stop lights are working, etc.

It's kind of ironic, me and him always laugh about how people (particularly on the east coast) over exaggerate about weather and freak out over the tiniest thing, and this just happened.

I'm so happy to hear that ^^..you feel better now then!

sadly i heard from a friend of me that his neighbor died in that storm under his house...all what i can say is RIP and sorry about his family loss and sorry to my friend too :(

I heard about hurricane Sandy in the news. Even here in the Philippines, everyone's praying that everyone will be safe. Just so you know, we're here for you. Condolence to those who lost someone in this tragedy.

I pray folks that got caught up in that storm are doing ok...my mom and brother are also on east coast

My thoughts go out all of you

To everyone whose location got hit, how's the after-hurricane situation? Everyone all still in one piece? :S And for those who have lost family members or ones dearest to you, please stay strong and hold on! I know it hurts and tears you to shreds, but what can we do against the fury of Mother Nature? My deepest condolences. Will be praying for you all. Take care.

For me, it made a damn mess out of our roofs & of our yard. Had to get a roofer to repair all that, & that's going to cost us quite a bit. I'm just hoping that our insurance give us the money that'll cover those expenses.

Also, I'm tasked with the oh-so joyful position of severed tree limb disposal. Lovely...

Hurricane Sandy, the eighteenth named storm and tenth hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, was the largest Atlantic hurricane on record, as measured by diameter, with winds spanning 1,100 miles. It had devastated buildings, establishments as well as houses. Thus, more people are looking for contractors to rebuild the buildings and roofs.
