i keep getting crushed by moderators at every corner for small technicalities, like moved to somewhere dead etc.. i read the sub-forum rules for each section and make sure to do the right thing but i've began to feel unwelcome quickly, i just want to talk to some people :( i'm honestly trying

The best place to get to know people, in my experience, is Other Voting Polls (essentially a forum that's less about voting polls and more about getting to know people in various ways) and the Daily Chit-Chat in Other Chat. Threads are going to be moved if they don't belong there, that's just how it is, and it isn't your fault that the forum is inactive and doesn't garnish the replies that more popular forums would get. Perhaps, if you want to create a thread in a more popular forum, think of a question that you would like to ask, but make it apply to that specific forum. An example would be, "What's your favorite Pokémon?" That would go in Pokémon General, ideally. But asking "What's your favorite Pokémon from the Unova region?" would mean that it would qualify more towards the Black & White forum. You're essentially asking the same thing - what someone's favorite Pokémon is - only you're limiting it to a specific forum that deals with that specific topic. If you want to just talk to people, just start a conversation with them! Find someone you think is interesting and send them a VM telling them you'd like to get to know them.

thanks patchisou, i guess i'll have to take my time, sometimes i'm bewildered at how flawless i need to present a thread, sometimes i can be doing the wrong thing with only the best intentions at heart

I feel that we have gotten off on a bad foot.

I am sorry for closing your thread, I must look into updating the rules in my board. Please don't feel crushed by this, believe me, if I let it get to me when I joined and made a honest mistake, I would have left a long time ago! =p

Don't worry about it, from your post, I didn't think you realised is all, so this is why I just closed it.

I will apologies on my behalf if I have negatively impacted on your first experience with PokeCommunity, I do hope you accept it.

If you ever have a question or would like to dispute anything, don't hesitate in contacting me, I am happy to talk to anyone if you think I have got the wrong idea about a thread.

Thinking about it now, I meant to PM you but I was busy at work, infact, I will PM you now! :3

It's really true. Many moderators like to nit pick every single little thing instead of realizing that they're there to give support, and to break up any issues or arguments.. For example: We had a helpful "post your problems thread" and that was taken down.. and now any time someone asks for help it is closed or rejected.. there are no appeals, and you can't talk -about- a thread's situation in the help forum because some mods take that to be a shot at their actions. There are some moderators here that are seriously AMAZING though. If you're having a hard time understanding the rules or if you're unsure of making a thread, you could always PM a couple mods. Bobandbill is great to go to, and there are a couple really rad mods that are always friendly. I'm glad you brought this up because I think that mods should be a little more considerate of people's feelings when they see that you may be opening a few threads in the wrong places, and take just a small bit of time to ask if you need any help navigating the forums.

I think it is important to say this.

If someone feels they are being unfairly treated, do talk to that staff member. Most times, they will be happy to have the feedback; I know I would. If I was wronging anyone in anyway, I would want to know straight away so I could make that wrong, right.

If that staff member doesn't respond or brushes you to one side, then don't just let it drop, go higher.

We are here to make your experience with the community better; not to act like the big man/woman and pretend we are better than you. :)

I've done that quite a few times with evidence of clearly erratic and EXTREMELY unacceptable behaviour from mods and even h-staff, and nothing's come out of it. In my opinion, it's really not worth your time and effort.

I usually get reeally pissy for like 30 minutes (if I was offended) and give my thoughts out on the matter and then then forget about it- because if I think something's not right, I have the mind to speak what I feel. However, it's really just more worth it to just brush it off and carry on.

Well, it is taken on board my lovely, just speaking on that since I can see.

We do take feedback seriously, well I do. If it is anything I can do to make something better, I will try my best to do it and I bet others feel the same way.

Well that's exactly what I mean. Some mods are awesome and they're really supportive and they WANT to be seen as a support system, other mods are there strictly to "follow those rules" and sometimes even have their own agenda. In my opinion, the ones that are there to help tend to be less brash than the ones that are there to be there, and that's why a lot of things fall through.
If you try to go to another mod for help because you feel like they can handle your claim better, or they will -actually- listen to your side of the story or take your opinion into consideration, the first mod with said agenda gets all offended, talks to the second mod, and interferes with any progress you may have made with the other mod. Or that first mod will bring it to OTHER higher mods and then void your entire argument. That's how it works. Then it becomes some sort of chorizofest where you just end up getting frustrated and not even wanting to bother with all the immaturity.

I've even had it where I left a post comment once saying "I dont think it was right that you did this, it's actually a bit rude.. sorry" without my name. And that mod somehow found out who wrote it (I thought they were supposed to be anonymous) and messaged me about it. It's like.. dude, if I think it's rude then I think it's rude. It's a post comment. So what I gave you negative feedback; it's not like I said something malicious. Why do you need to confront me about it? To claim that you're not rude? That was rude in of itself.. you just want some sort of excuse to try and prove that you're flawless? Just realize that not everyone's gonna like every action you make. It doesn't mean you're a bad person for it, it just means I dont like that one thing you said that one time. I like you just fine in every other situation before.. so it's not a big deal. Don't make it into one.

The list goes on with all the bs that goes around. It's so tiring.. but I try to keep in good spirits because there are some people here that are just so amazing that their goodness just outweighs all the poopy around.

If someone comes to us politely more than likely we'll respond in a kind, respectful manner. But if someone comes to us demanding a discussion without being civil about it we're going to respond in a similar matters. It's all about respect and politeness. You for example can come across as rude/demanding when you try to offer your "advice" on matters pertaining to PC. So I can only think that's why you usually get the type of responses you get.

And all staff members can see post comments. I guess they shouldn't be sending people PMs/VMs about them but not much can be done about that.

In the case that a member feels that they're not being treated fairly, they're free to bring the case up to a higher staff. It's no requirement to approach the forum's (if any) second moderator.

If there's cases like what you're bringing up that aren't unique to you (and I can tell you that I've barely been approached about things) then I'd love to hear the outcome of these cases. As it stands, I haven't heard of a case that you've described.

I've already brought things to Steve's attention, so it's fine. He's a busy guy though so if things aren't solved I understand that.

And by "Other moderators" I meant higher staff like s-mods.. sorry for the bad wording.

It's just that if H-staff does something.. who do you go to but another h-staff right? If multiple h-staff did something, who do you go to? Steve.. and he was brilliant about the whole situation. Even if it's not solved I was extremely happy to get the situation out to him and talk to him, and have him realize that those occurrences really shouldn't have been ignored.

And Luke.. it's a totally different ballgame when staff members blatantly (and randomly) insults you over PM and it's like "wait what? where did that come from?" And then when you bring it to other staff nothing's done about it because everyone is everyone else's friend.. soo.. yeah. It's a lose-lose situation and it's pretty much impossible.
And dude, I'm not always rude or demanding.. but when I'm frustrated about something I can get that way, I admit. But it's not like I'm trying to be a deliberate prick or something- I stick to my guns and I can be abrasive, but I am also really understanding. Don't paint me out as a bad guy here, though.. even if I'm being that way it's pretty much up to staff to try to remain as professional as they can about it. At least that's what I think most members expect.

Either way I've never had any problem with the pair of you, so you dont have to be concerned over that. I quite like you guys so maybe next time I have an issue I can just come to you?

Go a rank up. If an s-mod says something that you disagree, approach an Assistant Admin. If that fails, approach a Staff Admin. And then there's Steve.

Of course, nothing's stopping you from skipping the s-mods and going straight to an admin.

There's only so many things we can do, though. The higher staff team generally don't try to get involved in a moderator's decision unless it appears to be warranted.

Of course.. and that's what I've done. However it only seems to be resolved 1/5 times.. and by resolved I mean like.. a conclusion is reached even if the conclusion isn't in my favour.

Whatever though, we're all human, right? I just wish that if there's a problem with something.. that people stop taking sides because they're friends or tiptoeing around things because they want people to like them or that they want to feel superior. :C Just try do what you feel is right and that will benefit people.. right? I think some people lose sight of that is all.. and when I see threads like these it's like I see it as a flag to rally that mindset back.

Yes, I saw how "rude" Captain Fabio looked like when he locked the thread. I think when locking threads, Mods should try being a bit more friendly, especially to people new to the community, pretty much like how Meganium90 locks her threads. She always starts with a polite, neat, decent explanation on why she locked the thread. Then says that she is always be available for PMs/VMs, should there be any questions or doubts. But also, like Luke said, Moderators usually reply with that strict, angry-like tone when the thread violates the rules in a strong manner. Anyway, I wish you luck here in PC and have a nice day~!
