I don't know how to label this. But I think it's worth reading.

I've been wondering for the longest time: why doesn't Psychic effect Ghost types? Aren't 'psychics' or spirit mediums supposed to have an extra sixth sense that helps them connect with spiritual entities/other worldy energies?

So why doesn't it happen in Pokemon?

Pokemon - being a world of fiction, a video game, obviously doesn't make sense in many ways, but I think the type chart can be fleshed out a bit more. Maybe by Gen 9 or 10 we'll see some improvements. Gen 6 was sort of a 'experiment' because it was their first 3D game on a handheld. I can respect that. Plus they were experimenting with Fairy Types. I think this was sort of the same with Sun/Moon? They're getting used to working with newer graphics and a newer type chart. We have to give them some time.

Now, I loved SoMo way more than XY (though I still love Kalos and would love to explore it again in a new game or sequel or side-game for sure), and I thought SoMo was beautiful and can't wait to see more Pokemon Games on the Switch and want to see what it'll be like transitioning from the 3DS to a new, more advanced device.

Though I think moves should be updated, types should be updated, Pokemon's typing should be updated - the whole Enchilada. We're in 2017 now (good lord, I'm turning 20 this year, bless me) and we need something new. No more evil teams or gyms with a specific path set in mind for you. I'd like to see more Zelda-like fields (like Hyrule Fields) with Pokemon running around as you try to get past the area in a 2-3 minute time-span. This CAN be achievable on the Switch, given the specs we've seen with Zelda Breath of The Wild.

I want a more open world concept where you can do what you want when you want and grinding isn't necessarily a problem (when it comes to BP or levels) and you can complete any challenge when desired. Not necessarily making it 'easy' for you, but again, I want it to be more like an RPG. Add some quests in (not the Ultra Beast quest and then call it a day MORE quests dang it!), and I'm sold.

I want more Pokemon based off of animals. There are tones of animals that can be based off of animals, or combinations of them - or mythical folklore that have been told in all sorts of cultures. And yes, actually, from Atlantis to the real Mayan civilization there are REAL lost cities. Like this underwater city in China (who's name escapes me). How cool would it be to have place like that in a game? A 3D game on the switch that you can explore and find a lets say ghost/water type?

There are also apparently 'haunted' places in all parts of the world. The Suicide Forest of Aokigahara, a beautiful vast rain-forest where hundreds of people go there to claim their lives each year. Barely anyone goes there to camp in the middle of the night because of haunting's that happen.

Doll Island - Mexico. A place where a little girl drowned in a canal in the 50s and a man hung up a doll in respects, and tourists came to hang up more dolls where other children had passed. They say that the dolls still move occasionally and screams can be heard from the canals.

What if something like this was in Pokemon, and you can find ghost types there? Or there was a quest there and you had to help ghost Pokemon make their way into the afterlife similar to the Marowak in Red/Blue/Yellow? This is where the new typing would come in, because again SPIRIT MEDIUMS. I can't stress enough how much Pokemon needs to be revamped, the world is so large and there are so many places where Gamefreak can base locations or Pokemon themselves off of these places I've mentioned.

Okay. End rant. What do you think you'd like to see?

Do you mean Dark types instead of Ghost types? Or are you talking about how in Gen 1 Psychic used to be immune to Ghost attacks?

I think it's because they have a sixth sense that they're more vulnerable to ghosts.

Who looks like they're taking more damage: Swayze (the ghost) or Goldberg (the medium)?

I think you're getting the immunity confused because it's Dark-type that immune to Psychic, not Ghost.

As far as I'm aware, the weaknesses that Psychic-type has are based off of common fears, in this case insects, ghosts and the dark. But as Nah said, Ghost-type moves didn't affect Psychic back in 1st Gen but that was due to a programming glitch at the time.
