I have the Platinum [game] guide, will it work for Pokemon Diamond?

i.e. - I don't want to buy another [game] guide for Diamond. The games are pretty similar right? So the Platinum guide will work for Diamond or Pearl?

    Thanks.

As pointed out, Diamond & Pearl and Platinum have some differences with the storyline between both games, although Platinum's storyline is actually drastically different from D/P along with wild encounters featuring Pokemon that weren't in D/P.

So basically, I'd recommend you get a guide that focuses on Diamond & Pearl if that's what you're playing.

Okay, I'll consider it. Thanks ya'll. Anyone one else with both guides/games, you're welcome to chime in.

I'd just use google, everything you need will be on there :)

I had both guides, and I honestly perfered using Bulbapedia's walkthough scince it's easier to look things up. The guides are nice for little maps and such, but the Platnium and D/P guides are rather different. They may list Pokemon and items that are not there, and even instruct you to do things that was never in D/P to start with, mostly post-story I think. I think the D/P guide should only run you 5 to 7 dollars online, but get the Prima one. I never had the Nintendo Power one but the Prima guide is very well done, I reccomend it. :)

Just off the top of my head I can tell you that Platinum features different wild Pokémon, different Gym Leader teams (and two Gym Leaders actually switched orders, so different levels, too), different Elite Four teams, and an entirely new area as part of the main storyline that isn't present in DP. And I think there are some movepool changes from DP to P, too, so if your guide has the PokéDex in the back, that may be off as well. So while a Platinum guide may work fine for very generic information in Diamond, it's not really going to help much when it comes to specific aspects.

But if you'd rather not buy another guide, you can use sites such as Bulbapedia for getting information.
