So, I recently picked up Platinum, and I just can't get into it. It feels too much of a rehash of Pearl and Diamond. It's the same map, same Pokemon, same people. I really can't make to the first badge, because I feel like I'm playing Pearl again. It's just so...boring.

But it won't be boring when you get to the frontier. ;D

Well, maybe set up your own rules to follow so you can make it interesting. That's what I do sometimes if I can't find the drive to go on. Or completely reset my party by adding my favorite Pocket Monsters from other games.

Don't lose faith in Pokemon Games at all. What I do is use Diamond as my screw around game and make Platinum for real play.

Thats what I want to do. Complete Platinum with 3 starters and others.

Well, it came from Sinnoh and Diamond n Pearl. Its not a whole new game. Jeeze

When's Frontier? I take it the end of the game.

When you get to the Battle Island it will be fun. You can battle the Battlegrounds, Frontier, Rival and E4 and they actually put up a fight. think about the Rotoms!

Wulf, I beat the game in 16 hours (along with the Battle Frontier, and I don't hack.) I'm sure you can do it too! :D

You did, after all, come in second on my Monotype in Emerald back in July

Haven't you noticed? The part up until when you beat the first gym is always very boring. Give it time, it will end up being a very enjoyable and new experience.

I'll try, it's just very slow. I remember being able to get tot he first gym in Blue in under an hour. This just feels boringly long to get to the first gym.

You just gotta get used to it again. Just think of the newer features you can do now and then you'll want to play it again.

This wasn't a secret. You knew exactly what you were buying. This is how every Pokemon game is. 2 versions with minor differences (exclusive Pokes), third version with tweaks in the story line and more post-game stuff along with some technical fixes (faster Surf, faster text).

Maybe you outgrew the series. Or you can give your self a challenge and run some type of gimmick/theme in-game team (search the forums for suggestions).

If you purchased this game thinking it was going to be this brand new plot and all, I don't know how you got that idea.

Now now, the Pokemon games are actually very unique every generation. Just because you fight through the league to get to the Elite 4 everytime doesn't mean they're repetitive, there are still new plot points. Besides, they make Platinum look completely unique in the advertisements.
