I'm in need for movets for bot Tangrowth and Hitmontop.

I want Hitmontop's Ev spread to be like this:

    252 HP/96 att/94 Def/ 68 SDef
    Ability:Technician
Help on moveset and nature and item

    Tangrowth's like this:
    252HP/252Def/4Att
    Ability:Chlorophyll
    Impish
Help on moveset and item and maybe nature.More Attack EVs instead of Defence EVs, what do you think?

    Tangrowth is awesome.

    Tangrowth
    Impish
    Ability: Chlorophyll
    Item: Leftovers
    -Power Whip
    -Knock Off
    -Leech Seed
    -Sleep Powder

This set is pure joy. 252 HP is good, although not sure about the other two stats ._.

EDIT: Dark_Azelf beat me to it already.

Don't know much about Hitmontop, but I know that Mach Punch is a must on the Technician version, because its power is boosted up to like 95 (?).

    Novelty Tangrowth sets:

    Swords Dance:
    Admamant(Brave w/Trick Room Support)
    Swords Dance
    Power Whip
    Sleep Powder
    Earthquake/Rock Slide/Knock Off

    Physical:
    Adamant(Brave w/Trick Room Support)
    Power Whip
    Earthquake
    Rock Slide
    Knock Off/Poison Jab/Aerial Ace/BrickBreak

    Special:
    Modest (Quiet w/Trick Room Support)
    Energy Ball
    Sludge Bomb
    Focus Blast
    Shock Wave/Ancientpower

    Trick Room Team:
    Brave
    Power Whip
    Substutute/Sleep Powder
    Leech Seed/Knock Off
    Swords Dance

Compared to the standard, this isn't as good as it looked on paper, but It has worked fine for Me. I like using it w/ my Trick Room Brongzong sets. Sunny Day Support w/Chloraphyll is recommended when you don;t have a SPeed lowering anture.

    Like I said, though, the stanard's better >.>;

Thanks to all of you!Something about Tangrowth makes you go "Awesome!"

As for Hitmontop, I searched and I need help deciding its EV spread
    Originally I thought of this:252 HP/96 att/94 Def/ 68 SDef

but would this work better or worse?:252 HP / 120 Atk / 136 Def

As for its moveset I thought of this(Abusing Technician)
    -Mach Punch/Triple Kick
    -Pursuit
    -Aerial ace
    -Stone Edge / Rock Slide

But since they're all offensive moves, I don't know if it will pose a problem. Also, how much power difference is there between Mach Punch and Triple Kick?

EDIT @ Dunsparce: I don't want Sunny Day because if a Fire pokemon or Fire-move using Pokemon come in: PwN.

I'm well aware of that, but it's one of the only few ways to make it faster. Standard Set-wise, it doesn't need speed, though.

Is it just me, or do many of the new Evolutions have lower speed than there previous-gen predesessors? Honchkrow, Magnezone, Tangrowth, ect ALL have lower speed than their pre-evolutions.

maybe to balance their beefed up stats?

    And any advice on Hitmontop?

Hitmontop is usually used as a rapid spinner, but you have to be wary of gengar switch-ins. It's usually best to have something to hammer it on the switch. Or you can use pursuit, though that doesn't hit it on the switch.

I know, but a fast bird would be batter as a Murkrow Evolution, IMO.

I have a friend who LOVES Murkrow, and she was quite dissapointed with Hochkrow's stat distribution and appearence.

    Hitmontop... I'm not to good with fighting types. Especially pure ones. They just never hit my fancy, so I never developed sets for them >.>;

In 3rd gen, I ran a CB hitmontop in OUs that loled at gengar switch-ins with HP ghost. Maybe try a 4th gen version? Stone edge, random fighting move, rapid spin, gengar killer perhaps?

So I should add in Rapid Spin?

    And

EDIT:But I'm trying to abuse Technician and I want to focus on doing damage on many pokemon.

Pursuit, rolling kick, rock tomb...they abuse technician.

If you use rapid spin, you better have a gengar counter ready to switch in immediately. In UUs, spikes isn't really used much, so you don't really need it I suppose.

I hazard a guess as they grow they get larger and therefore heavier:
    Murkrow
    • :t198:
    • 4.6 lbs. (2.1kg)
    • 91 Speed
    Honchkrow
    • 60.2 lbs. (27.3kg)
    • 71 Speed
    He's 25.2kg heavier and 20 speed slower
    Magneton
    • :t082:
    • 132.3 lbs. (60.0kg)
    • 70 Speed

    Magnezone
    • 396.8 lbs. (180.0kg)
    • 60 Speed
He's three times heavier and 10 speed slower.

    Figures from Bulbapedia.

    Yeah,I'll find another a Spike Breaker.Froslass?But's that's another topic.

Rolling kick(80 acc.) would be better or worse than Mach Punch?

rolling kick? Whad I say? Yeah, use mach punch...

"spike breakers" are refered to as rapid spinners, for future reference.

Give hitmontop lots of attack, since it has a low base.

    ok thanks,lol

    So what about this? 252 HP/ 170 Att/ 86 Spd or Def?

Hitmontop is too slow for speed EVs, just be sure it outspeeds what it has to. It's HP is lolololol, so I'd run admant with max Atk, HP, and 4 EVs in speed. If you need more speed, take the EVs out of HP. I've never used hitmontop, so I'm doing my best here.

    ok I'll go with 252 HP/ 252 Att/4 Spd

And would you use Mach Punch or Triple Kick?

Triple Kick would be better used on Hitmontop, since it can easily break subs, gives you something to use against Sub-punchers
