Do you like to gamble or make bets? If you don't like to bet with possessions, how about just betting for pride and satisfaction? Why or why not?

Gambling amongst friends, yes. Making bets, always.

It started off a couple of years ago when my friends used to play Texas Hold'em Poker without any actual money, simply poker-like chips. After months of a seemingly ever-growing obsession in poker, we started gambling with little money, somehow insignificant since the winner used to invite the others to a restaurant or for drinks of some sort. This evolved, unfortunately, into something more as the addiction overwhelmed some of us, including myself, and we indulged on an ugly path in gambling. Now, not to sound arrogant or overconfident, but I was a great gambler so my wins surpassed my losses. But, I admit that I shouldn't have succumbed to gambling's effect (I blame my friend). Now, I am gamble-free for several months.

As for making bets, I still do it, particularly in football games or tennis tournaments. In this case, I am not addicted whatsoever so I can stop willingly. The last bet I made, and won, the Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The downside is I predicted the score wrong, so I won a partial of my bet.

I'm a massively risk averse person, so placing bets or gambling in general would probably never go down well with me. If I ever went to a casino, I'd probably just stay at the slot machine, get about £10, put that all in and keep whatever winnings I'd accumulate (which would undoubtedly be less than the original £10). That's not to say I don't like a card game or two - I'm a very good poker player when I do play - but I only tend to enter into those sorts of things if it's just for fun and there's no 'real' money involved.

i don't do either. i don't see the point. and i would like to keep my money plz.

I don't gamble at all, and all the bets I make are either part of a joke or figurative. I do play card games but just for fun; betting kind of gives me a serious approach to something that would otherwise wouldn't be as important, so I'm not fond of betting.

I prefer relaxation and fun over proof of superiority or whatever winning a gamble is.

It's fun at the casino to blow a 20 just for the games.. I see it as.. if I lose the 20, I'd have gotten my money's worth with the entertainment.
Contrary to popular belief, I think that slots are the fastest way to lose money.. Honestly even if I only got to play 4 rounds of $5 minimum poker or blackjack.. it'd last longer than just pulling a handle.

Though.. I loooveeee roulette. It's so fun. There was this one time I placed a $10 bet because I had won $30 from the 50-cents minimum roulette table.. so I figured if I lost the 10 I'd be back where I started anyways..

So.. there were these two old asian guys like.. throwing chips down EVERYWHERE.. They were really nice. It was my first time playing a "bigger" table. So they were kind about it, giving me some space to put my chip down. But like .. they must've thrown down hundreds of dollars in chips in different numbers.. I placed my one chip on red.
It ended up being a red-7.. and I was the only one who cashed out! Haha.. these guys like lost their hundreds and got $10. I was like "WOO~ I doubled my money!!"~ Stopped playing after that though *_*.. I know if I get too greedy I'll end up losing it all.

But it's really true.. that you gotta play big to win big. Placing small $1 bets at a time eventually makes me lose. If I up it to $3 or $4 each time every once in a while between smaller bets, I find that I end up being much more successful.

I love my money. Money and I are bros. I would jump in front of a bullet for my money and it would buy me a gun to kill the person who was trying to shoot my money. We have a relationship founded on trust, and I would never do anything to risk its well-being.

No, I don't place bets. How dare you.

My suitemates and I have bets going around all the time.

The most recent was when I had an English paper due. I was procrastinating. Tyler, knowing my ability to write extensively, made a bet that I couldn't start my 6-page paper at 9:35am and finish in time for class (due at 11am). I took him up on it. Wrote 7 pages in 50 minutes. Got the A, too. Won his ~$200 jacket for two weeks (our prizes are always temporary, making them more applicable). I won so many this past semester though that the guys have vowed to kick me out of the bet-loop. They've realized I do whatever it takes to prove my doubters wrong.

I used to gamble all the time when I was in High School. This all stopped when I bet several of my friends that my team which is the New England Patriots would win the Super Bowl against the Giants because I had to go for my team and because they were undefeated. When they lost, I lost a lot of money (from my father) and I had to do a lot of things for my friends -_-"

Small bets between my friends yeah. This year for the exams i put a bet on with one of my friends i'd get higher than him on the exams.
The prize was a 1.25 litre bottle of Coke for each result higher. I got 6 Cokes out of 7 :D

Melbourne Cup day i'll get my parents money to put on a horse or when my AFL team is the underdog in a match i'll get my dad to put some money on.

    So yes, I'm a gambler :P

I don't have anyone to bet with in the first place. :p

I'm of legal gambling age in the US, though, so I hope to go out to a casino at least once, just to see what it's like. I'd set a money limit like my grandma does and see how it ends up. It's not something I can do regularly though, I don't like taking a gamble with my money.

i never gamble..and about bets..i maybe do that but not on money i do it just for fun like saying i bet that girl will fall now and another person says no then when she falls i laugh out loud and say 1 for me and 0 for the other person..that's all but never use money on that cuz also my religion doesn't allow gambling

I freaking love virtual gambling (that is, gambling in, say, Pokemon (don't count HGSS/BW/spin-offs plz) or Persona 2 or something). I think it is awesome and would totes do it |Db

Real gambling? Well for one thing I'm underage at the moment, but I would probably do it every once in a while. I'd likely put aside some cash to spend, and once that's gone I'd stop. ...I hope.

As for any other sort of gambling I can honestly say I never took part in such things unless it was for fake cash.

You know the sad thing? Teenage pregnancy is so common at my school that we actually have a betting pool on whose going to get knocked up that year.

I placed 3 bets in my senior year. All of them were right.

Anyway as for gambling, I won't waste my money on slots. Rigged to much for my liking. I'm decent at poker, but not decent enough to win more then I'd lose. Blackjack is where I gamble my money.

I don't like to gamble because I wouldn't like the negative consequences of it when I lose, like losing too much money.

I make random bets all the time for nothing.
Like "I bet I can shower faster than you" or "I bet you can't eat all of that cake".
    xD
Just things like that, that make the day a bit funner.

I never gamble for money though. I'm too paranoid that I would lose everything. X]

Of course I bet, however it is never for a prize other than the pride. I bet for the satisfaction of boasting and showing how superior I am whenever I win, so that those who dare challenge me will learn their place.

However I usually never win bets, and whenever I do I never get the chance of doing anything of what I said above, because the bets are so pointless and are not worth any gaiety, so that makes this whole post totally pointless except for stating what I would do if I was actually able to win bets >_<

    WTF LOL! Genius!

I don't gamble often at all. Never been to a casino before or anything like that. I did however gamble with my best friend once in an "anti duel" which is where each player puts up cards to offer and the winner of the match takes the cards. I won with 12.5 -> 13 life points to spare in the final duel lmao. I've played poker before but it's just not my game.
