..then why are there almost no threads about it? Either that, or I must be blind.

The ONLY threads I see about it are how much people miss it, and how much the show is repetitive nowadays. If you ask me, the threads are repetitive.

Discuss what you love. What was your favorite gym battle in the first season? What was your favorite episode? What were the characters' best moments there?

I don't know. Things like that.

    Anyway.. does anyone else agree?

The first season was the best why? Because Ash and Pikachu weren't busy making whoopie with each other and actually trying to win the Pokemon League. And TR were actually funny and had better parts in the plot (We'll try to forget the time they tried to steal Moltres' flame in front of the whole world)

I loved the first season, because of the original trio(Ash, Misty, and Brock). All of them had some point had wonderful character development. And some of the stuff they went through from a episode were actually funny, and sometimes cooler. That is when Team Rocket were awesome. Now, I don't know. Since Misty left...the magic has gone. Don't get me wrong, I liked May, Max, and Drew. It is just that Misty was better. I totally miss the first five seasons, but the most is the FIRST season. And I loved their voices back then, too.

I found AG to be the most interesting. :D

But I still love the 1st season. I don't really like DP. But the 1st season had memories and originality to it.

Why can't they have different characters for each generation. For instance, why did they not have Kenta instead of Satoshi in the AG? Maybe Satoshi can be there in just some episodes and if people starts to miss him he can return.

I used to like this season until I rewatched it. It's okay but there are better seasons.
Since the first season is the most popular season, everyone is always saying Pokemon sucks because "Ash never gets his own badges" and all that crap.

I like Johto and Shinou and the Orange Islands better but I definitely like Kanto better than AG.

    first season

The first season definitely wasn't my favorite, but was very entertaining due to all of the ideas being fresh. Can't really narrow down a favorite episode.

As for favorite gym battle, I would probably have to go with the battle with Blaine. I also enjoyed the Battle of the Badge episode where we got to see Gary battle Giovanni (even though briefly).

I loved the first season. It had fresh idea instead of the new plots:OH NOES A TRAINER IN NEED, LET'S HELP HIM FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER!OH NOES TR STOLE TEH PIKACHU!But DP seems to be getting very well, and has better plots.

Well, the big reason I liked the first season over the others, Misty notwithstanding, is because back then the concept was fresh and new. It didn't try to BS the audience by acting epic in each menial episode. It was funny when it needed to be and serious when it needed to be. Sure it ripped off movies and other franchises (SS Anne became the Poseidon, for instance) and was repetitive as hell, but at the time it was still pretty new, so we just accepted it.

Unfortunately, it seems to have gone way downhill since then with over-used plots and recycled ideas. I mean (and I'm surprised that Armake21 didn't mention this when he answered fan questions), they even went so far as to have a Battle Frontier in Kanto after Hoenn, kind of like how they had the Orange Islands after the first League and the Whirl Islands in Jhoto.

I don't want to put the entire show down though. The main reason it became annoying is because the concepts and plot lines haven't really changed much from the first Generation, not because of the characters. The overall plot is still Ash trying to win the League and become a Pokemon Master. Team Rocket is still in unnecessary abundance, and the repetitive subplots still bog down the storyline. That hasn't been changed or improved on and people are just getting sick of it. In fact, I think it's way worse now because we've got Contests and other side areas that keep drawing the heroes away from even that overall goal.

My suggestion, Pokemon and really just Nintendo in general needs to stop using the same tired plot lines and come up with something new for once. I mean, everyone else does.

Yeah, they drag it out. Been there, done that.

I like Kanto as much as everyone else, but I was disappointed for I was expecting more of a proper game-to-anime conversion (hence, canon). And this is directed of the series' complete misuse of the Team Rocket org, with the Game Corner and Silph battles so fresh in my mind at the time. At least, they tried in other areas, but it wasn't the same.

I didn't want it to be a direct conversion like Pokemon Zensho (I think that's the right title), but with more obvious details like the Rockets, I was expected something more. Bah. Not counting the Mewtwo part, which was nice, but far too fleeting. Despite my issues with the writing, I did enjoy the animation for however it lasted (compared to the later generations topping themselves in the cheapness).

Take it or leave it. Heh.

I had that yellow box I bought in a supermarket with four tapes including the first season, and now I can't find it anywhere.

I loved the first season <3 I liked it when That girl from the episode "School of hardknocks" Was making fun of ash xDDD And then they battled and pikachu and cubone had a starring contest and then cubone hit pikachu on the head "priceless moment" I also liked when ash lost to sabrina and the little girl put them in the doll house..And yes like some others have mentioned team rocket was actually funny, and some of they're disguises werent that bad.

    Sigh...

Yup.., everything get's older and older. How I wish that they would start an anime series with a new line of story.., not that they'll use the old story, remake and re-edited and re-arranged and whatever the "re" are there to mention...

My point is that every generation has to be original...

And, Team Rocket Jessie and James could just have normal jobs so they could gain some money, not that they'll waste everything just to try (for over a million tries already) to catch that Pikachu of Ash.., but I don't think they'll ever gonna ran-out of money...

    Eheheh...

    Oh well...

but yeah, i really love the Kanto Adventures of Ash, along with Pikachu, Misty and Brock. Oh well...

It was just more interesting back then. All the episodes had a cool plot and even the fillers were fun to watch. I think more than anything we are all nostalgic for the days when Pokemon was worldly accepted and everywhere.

I enjoyed the first season more than the others mainly because it had more of a plot that I have never seen and the whole show was interesting to me. The original trio was better than the pairings of Ash, Misty, Tracey and Ash, Max, May, Brock and Ash, Dawn, and Brock. I don't know why I like the Ash, Misty, Brock combo better than the others, but it may be because the first season had more of a character development than the other seasons. And like everyone else I think that Team Rocket was a lot more funny than they are now.

My favorite gym battle would have to be the battle against Lt. Surge. I think that it's just funny that a gym leader doesn't know to build his Pokémon up before evolving him and that a just starting Pikachu was able to beat a Raichu on his second try.

The first season was the best it had more of a plot.
Plus thier was way more comedy.
Team Rocket was funny especially Meowth and I always thought those little smart remearks Misty made about Ash were funny.
Pokemon was defientely more mature in its first season.
It seems now thay've made Pokemon for more of the 4-10 age group which sucks.
I'm gonna miss all those classic moments where Misty would hit Ash over the head with something.

Well in related news I got the entire first season of Pokemon :)

All three of the original characters went stale during Johto, so bringing them back together will just be bland and repetitive.

Unlike Misty, they ditched May before her character developments made her an empty husk... And they'll probably dot he same for Dawn. Now only if they'd ditch the now one-trick pony Brock... Or create an entirely new cast so I won't go on whining IRL about the stupid new voices...
