    Work with me here, guys.

Say Pikachu had remained disobedient: aka, Ash never attacked that Spearow with a rock and never saved Pikachu from it. What do you think would have been different about the anime if the entire bond of Ash & Pikachu never formed?

    Go.

Assuming the anime kept going and Pikachu consistently kept that personality up until now, it probably won't fit the fearless leader-type role it kind of has going for it now. (Though really, Pikachu has become a pretty stale member of his team, personality-wise. As much as I love the little guy.) Well, it's unlikely that Pikachu would have stuck as hard as the mascot forever, especially if Ash moved on without him in his party in future generations. The writers probably would push more focus on the other Pokemon Ash had, maybe pushing for Charizard to become a flagship mascot (though it pretty much still is one of the mascots.)

I mean, Pikachu would just be the sort of jerk in Ash's team for generation 1, then he moved on, leaving Pikachu behind? It's really hard to say, as Ash has only really formed bonds with Charizard and Greninja that feel even comparable to his with Pikachu. Maybe we would have seen new trainers with each generation? But each of them had a Pichu/Pikachu/Raichu? Or maybe Ash's Pikachu would evolve into Raichu purely because it wanted to be stronger. There are a lot of possibilities with it, honestly.

Pikachu will runaway from Ash just like Ash's Snivy and Froakie did to their past trainers, and Ash having no Pokemon at all will have to go back to his home, giving up his dream. At long last, the Pokemon anime will only have 2 episodes... or just 1~ XD

On the other side, if Pikachu did kept his disobedience and not willing to attack anything (thus not showing its power), Jessie and James might be the proudest elite of Team Rocket by now (in before they fell in love and obsessive to Pikachu, they were looking kind of pro). Who knows, maybe the anime story focus point becomes Jessie and James? XD

I'm just picturing how this would be now, and I think that'd be much more fun than following Ash on his journey, lmfao.

Honestly, if Pikachu were to have remain disobedient, I feel like "Pikachu's Goodbye" would have really been the truth, and Ash would have released his Pikachu back into the wild? Maybe he would focus on some of the other members of his team instead. Though, I don't know what Pokemon would be his "token" mascot. Maybe one of his starter Pokemon... I also do feel like he'd go into each region without any Pokemon again if Pikachu were to have remain disobedient, honestly. He'd also probably catch a ton more Pokemon, perhaps, and rotate them in? That's a possibility, as well.

It's an interesting thing to think about, along with the idea of him being oaked as well? Which is unlikely, but...

I can't really see how they would've gone on a long time with Pikachu being disobedient. If they hadn't been attacked by the Spearows, I'm sure there would've been another point not long after when Pikachu starts obeying and becoming like a best friend for Ash. It likely would've been more of a transition over a few episodes rather than the almost immediate change in Pikachu's attitude towards Ash, but it would've happened.

If Pikachu had remained disobedient to Ash past the earliest episodes, I don't think the Pokémon anime would have lasted anywhere near as long as it has today. On the other hand, continued disobedience on Pikachu's part probably would have led to Ash being replaced with a new main character for Johto or maybe the Orange Islands.

If that had happened or Ash had ditched Pikachu and abandoned it otherwise, who knows how it would have treated the next trainer to catch it, if anybody else could even do so? This reminds me of Ash's Charmander being found abandoned by its previous trainer, and then it disobeyed Ash after it evolved into Charmeleon and eventually Charizard.

Not being able to develop a bond with Pikachu, who was his starter Pokemon, would have really stunted his growth. Not even the original series would have been that great and Pokemon would definitely not have lasted as it has. Part of a trainer's journey is to bond with the Pokemon that they catch so Ash not bonding with his starter is just the ... complete opposite of what the intention of the story would have been.
