Hey there, I'm just some random guy who likes Pokemon.

So why am I here? Because I want to get into ROM hacking (shocker). I've had a loose idea/concept/whatever for a game swimming around my head for a while now (which I'll happily thoughtdump on if asked), might as well try and bring it to life. We'll see if I make any progress on it whatsoever, I'm one of those people who will brainstorm useless ideas all day but instantly lose interest in them once I actually starting working to make them reality. In this case it'll be especially hard, since I'm very ill-equipped for the task; I know ****-all about scripting, programming, hex editing, and pretty much anything more complex than opening an internet browser.

I've already lurked a bunch of threads on here and downloaded several programs and stuff. Advance Map (obviously), XSE, G3HS (blown away by this thing's capabilities), Gen 3 Tools (I'll definitely use this for adding items but I'm concerned about whether or not it will "agree" with G3HS, if that makes any sense), MrDollSteak's rom base, a hex editor, and I think one or two other things. So yeah, I have a crapton of tools at my disposal and no idea how to use them. And that's my story.

Welcome to the forums, TalentlessNoob! Given you're a hacker, I'm sure our ROM Hacking boards are definitely the place for you.

PC is pretty famous for its ROM hacking stuff so you know you'll be in good hands with the fellow hackers over there. There's places to showcase hacks, find great tools, and even discuss hacking topics in general. It's pretty much got everything you need for hopefully becoming a great hacker!

Good luck with your project, and see you around! Contact any staff members if you need assistance!

Seems like you're off to a good start already. I don't know much about hacking myself but the ROM Hacking area is crazy with that, of course paahaha. Brings a lot of people to the forum hoping to get more involved in it themselves. I recommend the Beginner's Lounge for aspiring hackers who are just starting out as you can ask questions there or help out other newbies. ^_^

Welcome to PC, TN! Hope you keep at it as I'm sure all your hard work will pay off soon enough. Creating a game isn't easy but once you have something going you'll feel pretty happy with yourself. If only I had it in me to try it out myself. ;P

See you around and do ask if you need anything!
