If there were to be a new type...

Well there's a Dark type. I don't think that Light would be that bad...

Yeah, but dark type doesn't really have to do with literal "darkness." The closest move to real darkness is shadow ball or night shade, both of which are ghost type moves. Dark type moves, on the other hand, usually have to do with being tricky (even though the actual move trick is psychic, although switcheroo, its clone, is dark) or fighting unfairly. Bite, Suckerpunch, and faint attack all have to do with fighting unfairly. Also, there are already "light" moves that are of different types. Besides, electricity creates light (I think =/ ) so it would be hard to make an electric type that is not part light typing. I think that if there is going to be a new type it should be "cosmic", "cosmos", or wind type. But, really, I'd prefer it if there were no new type additions.

Yawn, Physic is light. but if light would be a new type,

Light is Light. Light means purity and royalty(I think). Psychic is mind's power. It has no connection.

But Light-type is the most probable. It'll balances Dark-types. And I like the idea of "Cosmic-types". Which totally means "out of the world".

I think Light is too similar to either electro or Psychic. and Wind is basically flying attack like gust of wind and air shot and wing flap etc.I think all groups are basically covered .
SOUND= normal
STORM= bird
SAND= ground
VIRUS =poison

in some cases a storm could be water

My reply

Yes, Light is agreed with. But it's real type match-ups should be:

Super Effective against Flying, Ghost, and Fire.
Not very Effective vs. Water, Rock and Steel
No Effect against Dark types

Weak to Psychic, and Water.
Resistant to Ghost, Fire, and Normal
Immune to Dark Types

Additionally, I believe in the rather obscure Glitch-type, a type exclusive to Missingno.

All I've thought up is that it's weak to Normal so far.

Plastic!!!!! lol Weak against fire and fighting

Lol agreed, I was thinking the same thing, but what would it be super effective for. The other one is Light, but when I think of it, it reminds me of Electricity, and kind of similar.

The Void

Just to build on the idea of Void typing, there is some foundation for it in the games. Darkrai is very much a void pokemon, his signature move IS Dark Void, an 80% sleep move. Spiritomb, though he already posseses two types, is a void pokemon as well, as are many of the Ghosts. Giratina, a Ghost/Dragon could also be considered a void pokemon.

Here's what I have come up with for the Void Type:

THE VOID

All the pokemon of the Void are interconnected through the spirit world to one another; they are seperate beings, yet are all apart of a bigger thing. They are beings of mystery and are enigmas. Here are some insights into the void:
======
Offensively
======
GREEN = Super Effective
BLACK = Neutral
RED = Not Very Effective

Bug
Dark
Dragon
Electric
Fighting [The bravery of Fighting types make them less susceptible to the Void]
Fire [The light of Fire makes Void type attacks less powerful against them.]
Flying
Ghost [Ghost types are drawn into the Void.]
Grass
Ice
Normal [Normal Types are enveloped whole by the Void.]
Poison
Psychic [Psychic Types are devoured by the Void.]
Rock
Steel [The iron defense is too much for the Void to envelope.]
Void [The Void is drawn to itself.
Water

Offensive Overview

The Void's defensive aspect is what really sets it apart from Dark and Ghost types, though even in the Offensive aspect, there is an obvious difference. The Void has some useful offensive advantages, though its offensive success depends on the tier it is in.

UU
In UU, there is a great abundance of Fire types, meaning that until they are cleared from the field, Void pokemon can't utilize their STAB. However, there aren't nearly as many Fighting or Steel. types that are seen frequently as there are in OU, and Void pokemon can use Psychic or HP Fire attacks to deal with them respectively. In UU, Void can do a great job as a damage source, getting perfect coverage with a Void Attack, Psychic, and Hidden Power Fire.

OU
In the OU metagame, the Void attack typing is absolute trash. It gets some useful super effectives on things such as Blissey and other normal types, as well as getting super effectives on both Psychic and Ghost types, and unlike Dark and Ghost types, it get neutral damage on Dark pokemon. However, on Steel, Fire, and Fighting types, types that are so common to the metagame, it deals reduced damage. This means top tier threats such as Lucario (4x resistence) and Scizor (2x resistence) get to come in and setup a sweep.

Ubers
It is in Ubers where void really shines as there are VERY few pokemon in the tier that resist its STAB. The one uber Fire, Ho-oh, is never seen, there is no Uber fighting except for Arceus holding a Fist Plate, and the only commonly seen Steel in Ubers is Dialga, and occasionally Metagross who takes neutral damage. Void as offensive typing is great to have, particularly as STAB, and is something to be feared.
=======
Defensively
======
BLUE = Immune To
GREEN = Resisted
BLACK = Neutral
RED= Super Effective Against

Bug [Bug Attacks are pulled into the Void.]
Dark [Dark Attacks are devoured by the Void]
Dragon
Electric [The light from Electric attacks strikes fiercly at the Void.]
Fighting [Fighting Attacks are pulled into the Void.]
Fire [The light from Fire attacks strikes fiercly at the Void.]
Flying
Ghost [Ghost Attacks are pulled into the Void.]
Grass
Ice
Normal [Dark Attacks are devoured by the Void]
Poison
Psychic [Psychic Attacks are pulled into the Void.]
Rock
Steel [Steel Attacks are pulled into the Void.]
Water
Void [The Void is drawn to itself.]

Defensive Overview

Sporting two immunities to popular attack types and 5 resistences, the Void type is a primarily defensive type, for good reason. It resists 2/3 things that resist it, and, while it has 3 weaknesses, the dual immunities more than make up for it. A Void type with good base defense stats is a force to be reckoned with in any tier.

UU
The abundance of Fire types in UU is what really hurts Void pokemon defensively, though with an instant recovery move that nearly all Void pokemon have access to (Devour), bulky Void pokemon can generally Stall them out. With so many resistences and immunities, the Void pokemon are great at causing switches, so prediction is key in using them in UU.

OU
In OU there are less Fire types, though still a fair amount, and more common electric types (the Rotom appliances, Jolteon, Zapdos, ETC.). Though it can be unlikely for an OU team to have both Fire & Electric types, Void pokemon don't like to come up against either. Once these are clear, and opposing Void pokemon are cleared, it is safe to bring out your Void pokemon and wall pretty much every threat common to the metagame, resisting all of Lucario and Scizor and Metagross' STABs, and many other top OU threats.

Ubers
Again, in Ubers the use of Fire attacks is not seen very often, and there are no STAB fire attacks besides the very rare Ho-oh, who Voids would not stay in against regardless. Voids don't like the abundance of Thunder in Ubers due to Kyogre, but once Kyogre is safely eliminated and other Voids are as well, Voids will have a resistence to pretty much every common attack in Ubers except Dragon Attacks.

The Void focuses on dealing damage and screwing with the enemy lineup. Every single one of its attacks has some chance to have an additional status effect, which is why the attacks have lower damage then other types. The abilities like Mourn and Devour can screw up entire teams, as Mourn is unavoidable and unresisted paralysis, and Devour steals health. Because of their great defensive typing and the fact that all their damaging attacks have secondary effects with high chances to Proc makes Void great for Stall, though due to having a very even Physical/Special Split, they can be used to great success on UU, OU, and particularly Ubers offensive teams.

That's all!

I'd like to see a type such as GX More a genetic Mutation/use of objects~ (Like rotoms transformation)
For an example of this type ill give a move idea
Cyber Lance:
[pokemon]'s hand becomes a large glowing Lance, [pokemon] then lung's it at [target] piercing through [target] body.

Bacon. Super effective to all types, but weak against fire.
That would be epic.

Hmm. I think we already have enough types. If there are any more that I'll have to learn, my head might explode. But a Light type sounds good. I don't think that it would cause that much controversy on the religion field - after all, there is a Dark-type and not all of the Pokemon in it are necessarily evil. There could be an Angel-type to combat the Ghost-type, or a Healing-type to combat the Poison-type. There are just some types that need opposites, and that would be pretty cool :]

Wow, i didn't think that my type list layout idea would be so pupular XD.

i have a new type List

Wood

Attack Wise:

Super effective agist: Water, ice, fighting, Bug (wood reminds me of grass, but it has a little split up to it)

Not so effective agist: Rock, ground (so similar, plus Rock and ground have too many Weaknesses anyway's)

Immune to: (not every type should be immune to another type but with the add on's of Dark and steel GF decided to)

Defensive

Super effective: Fire (wood is easly burned by fire), Ground (don't know why)

Not effective: Normal (sorry, but i'm being reasonable) Water, Fighting,(becouse fighting is super effctive agist so many types, any new type should be restant to it. WHY DID GF MAKE FIVE TYPES SUPER EFFCTIVE TO FIGHT?! WHY!?) Grass (similar types shouldn't be nutural)

Immune to : Eletric

Overview

GF Had some sence and made dark high attack and low defense, while steel had mild-low attack and high defense. So wood should have at least a 70-100 attack and 90-110 defense (for moast types). Speed could be high and also hp could be verry high to.

Type combonations should include steel (fire bad! but = fight good), Water (Awsomez! fIRE and ice wouldn't be a problem nethier would grass! and eletric no problem! shuch a good type Matchup!)

OTHER TYPE IDEAS

MUD water + ground

well, flying is too general to birds/dragons/flying stuff ect..

but if we had wind, then there could be a tornado pokemon or hurricane.

dinasaur!

Wood = Grass, why is this so hard for people to get?

The types I want to see are as follows-

Light type
Wood type (like grass but differnt just an idea)

Also like combo types would be kind of cool for moves like-
Lava (rock fire)
Mud (water ground)
Moss (grass rock)

Wood = Grass, why is this so hard for people to get?

Wood isn't grass.

They may be Similar, but they are not exactly the same.

it reminds me of rock + grass.

um dinosuar????????????????????????
