Issue: Images Not Showing Up

    For the past three or four days, I've been having issues with most images not showing up for me, regardless of what skin I use. For example, the banner at the top of the page is nonexistent. I also cannot see the thread icons that show which ones I have posted in, and most avatars and profile pictures are not appearing for me. Is there anything that can be done about this? Thank you.
     
    Do you have image-viewing disabled on your browser? If you do, not every picture is going to show, unless you unblock whatever websites you want images to be displayed from. If I were you, I'd simply enable the entire option instead of going through all this hassle. If you're using Chrome, toggle should be placed somewhere within advanced settings. For FireFox, Safari, IE, and other browsers, I'm not really--it's been a while since I'd used them. You might have to look around a bit to figure it out, haha.

    you may be having a cache issue.. log out of tPC. clear ALL of your browser cache, close and restart the browser. log back in to tPC.

    I did clear all of my browser's cookies and cache, and that helped some (I can see a few more avatars), but there are still many images that I cannot see. As far as I know, I do not have image viewing disabled on my iPod touch. This problem came up suddenly. (one moment it was fine but when I clicked to go to another page, the images started acting up).

    most of the images are served by the cdn (cloudflare) so perhaps your connection to their endpoints is experiencing issues. I don't really know.

    as for what else to do, I have no real idea especially for an ipod touch.
     
    Well, maybe it'll go away on it's own. At least I hope so. It's funny that PC is the only site I'm having this issue on...
     
    I'm having a similar problem when I visit the site on my iPhone 4. The images display eventually, but it takes quite a lot longer than normal for everything to load.
     
    That's funny that the problem seems to be jut on Apple mobile devices. For me the images never load.
     
    Might be on Apple. Images are acting up on my iPad 4 as well.
     
    If theres an option to use "request desktop site" in the browser you are using for your device, try that and it should load quicker
     
    Okay, this seems to be happening on my tablet as well, where the forum banner and no other images on the index page load. It seems to be a thing with mobile browser user agents or something in mobile browsers that the forum is reacting to, because switching to viewing the desktop site in Android restored the images.
     
    OK I think I might know what's going on and will need you to help with it a bit..

    We use CF for cdn as well as security reasons right? Well the cdn part has an image optimizer that helps speed up images for mobiles and the like... BUT it has to first grab them, then process them (at least for the first time or two) when the image is requested.. What I think is happening is that your mobile views are the first time for that theme.. or something and it's doing the optimizations... thus slowing down the image loading..

    SO how can you help.. force reload the page and just wait. Wait for images to load, they will eventually or did so on my 'droid phone. Do this for all styles you use on your devices.....

    Let me/staff know what results you had doing this.
     
    Short version is: refreshing doesn't seem to help.

    The issue I'm experiencing has three phases.
    1 - images are MIA
    2 - places where images should be resize and get really big, bumping other stuff out of place
    3 - images report for duty and everything's cool

    This still happened after forcing the page to reload. I've been using the Nimbasa's Shining Beauty theme (because Elesa), haven't tested any others. Phase 2 of the problem doesn't always happen in threads, but always happens in the main page, forums, and sub-forums. The whole process takes anywhere from roughly ten to twenty seconds.
     
    I've tried refreshing my page as well, but I get to Phase 2 (Thanks, Tek for your descriptions) and then stay there. I never get to Phase 3. I've tested it on PokeLink, PokeWii, and the vBulletin Default skin

    And in my Safari browser, there is no option to switch to the desktop version.
     
    It's happening on my DROID too. Been doing it all weekend. Sometimes it even shows the codes for images instead of loading them. I figured it was an issue that was already known and just needed to be worked out. Reloading the page doesn't help at all either:( everything just seems rreeaallyy slow.
     
    Ok for those that did have the images finally load, do they load again on your next visit? (same theme/style) or does ot start the MIA images wait for them to load thing all over again????
