Ok, so lately I've seen a ton of complaints from in the Battle Stadium DCC from various members, be it the amount of tournaments and league, the management of these leagues, or the ever-lasting battle between shoddy and wi-fi. I want you guys to know that I'm not happy about the condition that the Battle Stadium is in, but many of you think no one cares enough to do anything. Which is why I thought I'd ask you guys what you think we should do.

This is our forum, and I think we should try to come to an agreement on what we want to see happen here. We obviously cannot please everyone, but the moderation staff is willing to listen to your ideas; anything from scrapping the entire forum to leaving everything alone, or anything in between. We're just four people, and some of us rarely visit the Battle Stadium regularly, so it's hard to gauge what you guys want as a whole. This is your chance to tell us what we're doing wrong and what we can do better.

Now, there are a few things I'd like to address before we start:

    - Attached to this thread is a poll with general directions in which the Battle Stadium can go. You will be able to vote multiple times in the poll, but I ask that you explain your choices in your post. PLEASE think through your opinions before posting them. You may post any ideas that you like, even if they aren't in the poll choices. If you don't care enough about the Battle Stadium to type out a few sentences, then don't bother.

    - If you disagree with someones post, you may calmly state why, but any hint of purely argumentative or flame-baiting posts will be deleted and your opinion disregarded in the poll. I'm trusting that you guys can remain civil about this, and I expect that you take this seriously.

    - Any hint of a Shoddy vs. Wi-Fi post will be swiftly deleted and infracted. We've been through this enough. Shoddy WILL work along-side with Wi-Fi, no matter what direction the Battle Stadium takes. That is not what this thread is about, so keep your grudges to yourself if you have something against Shoddy. It's here to stay.

I'll keep the poll open two weeks and allow you guys to discuss your ideas within this thread. Please don't make me regret doing this and abide by all the regulations posted above. I care enough to hear what you guys have to say, so DO NOT LET ME DOWN.

My thoughts: Personally, when I was first modded, I thought scrapping the entire forum was drastic, but little has changed since then, even with the stricter regulations we've been using for approval, activity remains low. I've been trying to regulate the number of threads we have approved at one time so tournaments/gyms don't simply die from lack of interest, then there seems to be a few decent threads that are sustaining some activity. My vote is to hold out a little longer and see if the stronger regulations keep only a few, quality threads active at one time. If we see an improvement, then we can gradually increase the number of active threads at a time.

I would say scrap the whole stadium, and make one league.

One PC League, in which leaders MUST be able to do BOTH Shoddy and Wi-Fi, because (before someone gets hyper and reports/deletes, I'm not saying either is better, Wi-Fi rules, or Shoddy fails...etc.) the stadium is 50 / 50. Shoddy / Wi-Fi, leagues that only allow one of those are far more likely to fail. Sorry, but thats how it is. both are good, but its not 100% one way around here. An all Shoddy league prevents Wi-Fi battlers, and all Wi-Fi prevents Shoddy. Plenty here can do both, so find those people and have them be leaders. Naming a few...me, Ooka, Syndrome, Phoenix, Stavross...etc.
As for the rest, tournaments that say, have a certain sign-up limit would be helpful, say like eight. And I won't say they must be both. Also stricter penalties need to be made on thse who fail to get approval, and I think the personal Battle Thread criteria needs to be more focused. to many threads that are "Hi, my name is noob!" Please battle me!!!" My FC is 2222-2222!!! Yayyy!!!" Something like World King's thread or CS's are examples of good battle threads.

    Yeah...my two cents..

i believe we should keep a few leagues that people will enjoy. like for instance the multi-mix special league is the only league that is still around from when i first joined last year(and the only league i am active in). i now see people trying a bit too hard with trying to make a unique- enough league that i for one am certainly not interested in. and i agree with SCV with the personal battle threads, because most of the time they are what he has described them to be.

I think that everything should be scraped and we start over. With the exception of the Multi-Mix Special League and the Four Seasons league. (I believe that is a league correct me if I am wrong). Since those are the only two things I see that have decent activity. I also think that there should definitely be less leagues/tournaments. Just looking through the 4 pages here and I see a lot of unfinished tournaments and a lot of inactive leagues. I don't really like the idea of just having one major league like SCV proposed. But having a lot less leagues would be better in my opinion. I think that battle threads should be scraped as a whole. If you want a battle ask for it in the quick battle thread. Don't make a thread just so you can have a battle. Can't really think of anything else I think that would improve the Battle Stadium so yeah.

Approve less. Only approve stuff that HQ. Not every league that comes into town. Preferably no revivals either, if it died once, it was for a reason. Also, there are always like 3182312985721043812 tourneys going on at once or none at all. I would say like a few tourneys at a time, and just postpone some of the others, so people dont bite off more than they can chew and/or get burnt out.

As for leagues, well I guess they keep activity going but for the most part they lack originality. It could be nice to have them but ultimately they always end up dying, I suppose in the short run it could pay off for activity/give people something to do and keep some people organised instead of flooding the Quick Battle Thread.

I actually agree with SCV that most and/or all Leagues should permit both Wi-Fi and Shoddy (for those who have access them), because it really excludes less people and not everyone can participate via the same medium or have conflicting schedules.

Scrap the whole thing and start over; Yes, scrap it. Start over. Plain and simple. At least PC will save a few bytes from it's server.

More approved threads; EVERYTHING needs approval here. Yes, it is annoying reading those threads but there are some leagues that are looking for members and stuff. ALL 8 places are empty, at least get 3 places, so I won't feel like I wasted time reading that thread. Should be a rule "A league must have a minimum of 3 members at the beginning, leagues with less than 3 to begin with will not be approved." Some leagues are not decently made, or nice to the eye, that said, fine leagues that are hindered by not being neat to read. So a minimal neat thread is fine. As long as it's readable. Perhaps a form like what is used in S&M?
Also, inactive leagues should be forewarned that if they are dying or don't get at least minor traffic without a reason (absent leader, for example) would be locked and cannot be re-opened for a set time.

That's as far as what I think goes.

    Scrap it and start over.

I just recently came back to PC and well it just seemed dead as a doorknob. I mean leagues that been around for 3-4 weeks still dont have leaders. I say (and this might be hard to do) when the mods approve a league their should be a sign up thread and once the eight(or as many leaders need be) delete it and open the league that way challengers arent waiting months to either challenge or finish a league.

As for wi-fi vs shoddy, Aura said it the first time, you cant please everyone. so just do the best you can.

Frankly, things have plummuted downwards since I got here and that's probably not going to change. We thought HGSS would bring more battlers? It didn't. Some hope summer will bring more battlers. It probably won't. Shoddy, Wi-Fi, Tourneys, Leagues, I don't care what angle you come at this, the fact that this forum is borderline dead in indisputable(is that a word? O_O). So I say, unless the spammy new leagues and minimal activity levels show improvements, keep what's doing well and get rid of everything else. Not much of anything else can be done that hasn't been tried already(ex: Official PC League, Less Approved Threads, No Changes).

Is it possible to block people from posting new threads here without either A. approval from mod or B. number of posts or C. activity/months on PC or D. some combination of the three? As far as I can tell, a lot of the new (unapproved) leagues are from people who have 5 or less posts, people who are likely very, very new.

I'm not really into scrapping everything. Partially because it includes the official PC wifi tourney and that's been up since forever. It's history, man! Definitely less approvals though.

I think you've got something there... like maybe a filter system. Like if someone posts a league, it is automatically sent to a mod for judgment on whether or not it can be posted. So, in short, it would stop people from making the excuse of "Oh, we were supposed to PM a mod?" and it would have every thread get automatic approval/disapproval.

You could put a line in the rule and have them quote that line for every PM request or have them make that the title, that way if they don't quote it, the mods can automatically reject it and move on.

Yeah, but the problem is there'd be a huge workload everyday thanks to nubbies invading. Especially since colleges will be letting out in 3 weeks or so and many other schools a month after in the northern hemisphere. You'd need to appoint new mods or drag other the mods here to keep the workload at a reasonable level.

I'm partial to the autoblock until # of posts or age of account thing meself.

I suggest you wipe it clean. Simple. Then we can start from scratch and not have all this clutter of dead leagues and unsuccessful tournaments hanging over us.

One of the main problems is the use of the Quick Battle Thread. There seems to be none. Most people avoid it entirely and post threads like 'hey dood im up 4 battulz". Maybe you could sorta inforce the use of it more?

Then the rules...People simply don't read them. This is why we see so many unapproved tourneys and leagues being locked around here. IDK how you can inforce this, maybe a warning should be given out?

I do also think that there are way too many leagues being/attempted at being posted around here..maybe we could bring back clans @ less spam, and see how that turns out?

IDK thats my two cents for now, ill bbl because im doing homework

EDIT: Gamer thats a p good plan too.

the problem with the no. of post thing is, many people usually just stay in the battle stadium and they dont count those post. my post count says like 23 or something but in reality I have over 450 post they're just in the battle stadium, i think the Profile age would be a better thing to go by.

I don't mean something like 200 posts to post in here. Most battlers only post in trade and battle anyways (like me, hur hur hur). It shouldn't be TOO hard for someone to rack up 15-20 posts outside here though. And yeah, posts in wifi should be considered.

I find that quality of posts are usually a good way to determine if a person is a nub or a genuine poster. :)

Maybe a better way of doing this would be to just turn on forum moderation?

Me 2 100 percent cause this and trade thread are the only things im really interested in on here
