[IMPORTANT] Battle Stadium opinions/ideas thread

Frankly, things have plummuted downwards since I got here and that's probably not going to change. We thought HGSS would bring more battlers? It didn't. Some hope summer will bring more battlers. It probably won't

Um I consider summer to be refreshing for Stadium. Maybe you do not study or attend school, but others do. :(

And yeah, posts in wifi should be considered.

Maybe a better way of doing this would be to just turn on forum moderation?

This is the route I would take; wipe forum, turn on moderation. I thought the idea was radical so I would normally 'leave Stadium alone,' but some of you guys are okay with it.... That gives us options.

The only problem with moderation are the classic questions such as:
"When will you view/consider/approve my post??"
"Why was my post rejected, and how does it fail to meet the requirements?"

These questions can be easily delivered while PMing the person, what we do now... In addition, PMing is supposed to facilitate refinement and direction instead of a yes/no and 'you are on your own' 'tude.

However, seeing as a handful of members are ~challenged~ and do not read the rules anyways, a misunderstanding of "whars mah post" is more pleasant than a "i need approval?" imo.

I would rather someone deal with staff than possibly post garbage on the already dreary Stadium.

Also, threads should be for leagues/tourneys while quick battle (even personal/long lasting battle threads) belong in Quick Battle.

Now that you mention it, scrapping the battle stadium and keeping the living leagues will sound good- there are so many pages of leagues that on paper looked very good( like the heart and soul league). And I'm still abit confused about the post thingy you guys were talking about.:/

also for the new members who keep posting things on here like the threads and stuff. Something should be made to stop that from happening or Make a new thread saying in smiple what the rules of the battle stadium are
b/c i know when i 1st join i really didnt fell like reading everything on that page fix it to wear its short and sweet (this is just my opinion)\

Well i like to consider myself active in the Battle Stadium so here is my 2 Cents i think honestly we should scrap it delete all the threads maybe Rebuild the Quick Battle Thread and The Iv Battle Thread then like Gamer Suggested put in a line rule so you would have had to read the rules to make a Thread Next Get Rid of the Challenge me threads that can be done in quick battle next like the Groups Forum make it so that if it already exists you can not make another for example if there is already A Monotype League Were each Gym Leader has on type that will be the only one till it closes from being inactive then have a League for each tier OU,UU and Nu maybe NFE but it seems uneeded then a Speacial League wich could have any mix of rules so there would only be 5 Leagues at the Most and then For Tourneys only allow 3 Tourneys to be available at one time when the 3 our done 3 more can be put up so there will be a sort of line with those

They actually work for other sites for people to find quick battles. It would help cut down on the battle me posts and make it a little easier for people to battle.


Oh yeah, I agree with whoever posted that posts in battle stadium should count toward post totals.

I'd scrap the entire thing and start over, similar to what S&M did (and that worked out). Probably turn on forum moderation, since the threads will be mod approved anyway, just not via PM (and forum moderation keeps the forum clean from poor threads). If not, just close everything, turn on forum moderation, and go from there. Like I said in the DCC, one main league is worth a try, and if that works more leagues can be created later on. Though, I don't know how Wi-Fi and Shoddy could be balanced, if there is a mix of the two in the tournament, a challenger that can only use Wi-Fi or Shoddy will not be able to complete the league. If there was two splits for the league, there would be low activity (specifically for Shoddy). Then again, I guess that's the only way of making the league without any Wi-Fi / Shoddy problems. I don't agree with forcing Gym Leaders to use both Wi-Fi and Shoddy, what if the they don't have both (or just dislike one) and still want to participate in a league, but can't because of this? As for tournaments, I think there should be a limit of how many approved like others said. Possibly have 2-3 average tournaments with no unique rules (maybe even have one tournament for each tier?), and then ~4 more successful tournaments that are distinct. Also, I honestly never saw a point in personal battle threads when there is a QB thread.

I like the idea of one big official PC league. The split between wifi and shoddy might have to be worked out, but maybe we could have a separate section of the league for each one? We could get creative with the gym/elite positions as well, each with a different sort of twist. And the fact that it would be the only league would hopefully mean it stays active.

Because some (if not all) people like to do more than one tier because the same tier over and over and over and over and over agian gets old after a while. So I think thats actually a terrible idea. However, if someone would elaborate as to an "official league" (one where we battle other forums or like just one big league where we fight each other) I am in favor of the latter, despite how bad I think leagues are, having only one league diminishes from creativity and eventually gets old and repetitive.

Sounds good to me :D as long as that is only temporary and we can still make Leagues as time goes on
possibly just 3 Tier Leagues our maybe 3 Tier Tourneys Aside from the Main Pc League and i would prefer the Drastic Approach XD to your new option

What others may believe that scrapping the ENTIRE Forum being better for the battle stadium we have now, to me, is a somewhat bad idea, due to the fact that there are leagues such as Four Seasons which is continually growing, and may have become one of the best things that have ever happened to the PC Battle Stadium in a good amount of time. I have been here before the forum was scrapped under the username, "Tori" and during that time, I have seen the battle stadium prosper under many great leagues such as Heart and Soul League, the Multimix special league,Team Destiny, the Aero League, the Battle Frontier, and i'd like to say the underdog league(which i abandoned and take full responsibility for) as well. These leagues brought a new, interesting, and challenging experience to battle stadium. That was why trainers wanted to stay here. Now, some of those amazing battlers are gone. I left because i was afraid to battle. i admit, but i still wanted to battle here. Those leagues may have been the greatest reason as to why I came back. I'm not saying to bring those old leagues back, but to have better moderation as to whether a league has enough creativity, originality, and POTENTIAL, to prosper. These are my opinions.

Well, it will give the Gym Leader options to use a theme of any sort they would like (i.e. monotype, a specific tier, the entire team has a high Speed stat, etc) and they can always change it if they get tired of it. Furthermore, it will be active since the entire forum will be contributing towards it due to being the only league. And we could finally have a Battle Frontier with a factory theme possibly, etc. Basically, it will be creative if members choose it to be creative.

Also, there will still be other leagues being made later on (or even keep the current leagues?), they will just have to be able to distinguish itself from the main league.

One thing I've noticed is the number of newbies who come in, get crushed easily by someone more experienced, then don't really come back cause' they are discouraged. I think we lose like 70% of new people becasue of that. Perhaps there could be a seperate area for newbies to generally get practice and ideas (no, I don't mean strategies and movesets,) and place for noobs vs. noobs, essentially.

Yeah, when most of the good battlers (Greene, Roshi, etc.) left, I thought about leaving as well. But like Tori / Shroud, I stayed, and I agree insofar as better thread moderation is needed. It seems to me for the most part leagues are being approved left and right. And most of these die. I say there needs to be a limit of active leagues. Say, three maximum. If another app comes in, have like a list, so if one dies or closes, another can go in.

I would like to see a sticky for those that post battles on youtube can post a link to them and say they have a new battle up. It would benifit the forum and may attract some more people here.
