In other news today: Asteroid almost hit earth we survived by luck.

Wow! Are you serious?! I didn't even heard of it till now!

Anyways.... so does this mean that similar things will happen in the future?

Wow! Close call for Humankind, eh? Although this is basically like the Hadron Collider nonsense - "Black Hole imminent!" and "The Apocalypse is coming!". So, to be honest, i don't really care, unless something DOES wipe us out, but in that case i'd be dead.

0_o that was really confusing, huh? Was for me :).

Well actually this time we didnt even know about it and it was real so not even close to those theories.

I saw this story. They said there was no chance it would hit because of a huge distance.

Hmm... I think it's a little odd that nobody calculated the trajectory of the asteroid at least a week before... otherwise, it must have been too small to detect.

Close call, I guess... I think that if we were all going to die anyhow, that it wouldn't even matter. Ha!

Dudes you don't even know, it is Superman..

That aside, boy are we lucky. Man, I just know one day, when we least expect it.. POW! We are all dead.

It was only about 30-50 meters. And it was heading for the Pacific.

It would have been the poor Hawaiians that got the extinction. Maybe the Eastern Asians and Australians as well,

Americans would be going: "Huh? Oh, the US Flag lost a star."

All I have to say is lol.

This wasn't even a close call really. If it was the planet would be in major evacuation a few weeks before just to be cautious...

Wait, what? Do you mean kilometers? If it were only meters, it wouldn't have made a difference - Earth's gravity would have pulled the asteroid into earth.

If it was headed to the Pacific, then it really meant nothing to me, since I live in Bibilin Michigan.

Seriously, guys. Don't get panicky. If an asteroid killed us all, we wouldn't even freakin' know it happened.

I'm laughing at the entire article, just... because. XD; Pretty cool images of it though. And the comment "better luck next year!" was priceless.

Glad it missed, surprised we didn't hear much about it.

It said there, the asteroid was just within that range. It wasn't even close to 1/10 of a Kilometer if you know SI.

And maybe that was all the effect Earth's gravity had. Maybe its path was 10 times farther away than the moon but I'm not sure. The gravity got it 10 times closer than the moon.

Haha one time my friends talked about this subject and I said, "I bet you a million bucks I die from something other than an asteriod" either way no one gets the million bucks :p

A 30-50m asteroid isn't that large, though it would still cause some major problems if it had crashed.

But we all know it was just Kal-El getting mistaken for again. :D

O.O
Woah.

Well, thank goodness we're still alive.
Imagine it gets all hot all of a sudden, then we see an asteroid..
*epic explosion*

No i head about this on sky news, it happened but something else to note uis that I heard a bigger one is coming soon and there going to need no knock it off course

That's interesting, I've never heard anything about this before I saw this thread. Oh well.. Day by day, a lot of us have a close brush with death, and we almost always survive with a little help from fortune. We sure do depend on dumb luck a lot. xD;;

I don't really see any reason to be worried :P

It was only the size of the Tunguska Rock, even if it did impact, the damage would be very localized, nothing that threatens humanity.

The only real worry is if it were to hit, we'd have another Black Oil infestation D:
