In what ways is Serena different from May and Dawn

While both May and Dawn were beginner trainers and interested in Pokemon contests, Serena has yet to get involved in ongoing competitions, yet we still know little about her. Just how is Serena different from them in terms of personality and trainer role?

Serena seems to have more respect for Ash than the contest rookies. I just want to know what separates her from becoming like those two?

I think it has to do with her being the only female friend Ash goes on a journey with who has a crush on him, obviously haha. (Misty too a bit :P). I really like Serena more than Dawn & May because unlike all the other journey girls, we actually see her start off like any normal Pokemon trainer would.

*Spoiler alert, not yet shown on English dub*
*Read below if you're interested in the Serena's origin*

    - I read a paragraph from a Serena's wiki because I was curious on her origin & it stated she met Ash while she was injured at some point while being lost in forest after being forced against her will to join Pokemon Summer Camp. Long story short, they both were chasing a Poliwag at the time, Serena got injured in the process, Ash helped her by covering her wound with a handkerchief. Serena's knee kept hurting so Ash told her to never give up, said it was a good luck charm, & then helped her leave the forest. She then returned to Kalos bringing the same handkerchief in memory of her meeting Ash.

I think this was pretty sweet and this series could finally be the series where Ash gets GF o:

We know know that Serena has been sweet on Ash so far, but since she's in the group for another 2-3 years, will she continue to be this nice?

And as each region progresses, all of Ash's female traveling companions have become more like annoying sisters than smitten love interests, and every one of them have managed to butt heads with Ash. The writers don't help matters either.

So by Ash's battle with Wulfric, which category will Serena most likely land in:

    1. May/Dawn
    2. Misty/Iris
    3. Pure kind Serena (or Hinata Hyuga) (for once in Pokemon history)

P.S., Clemont is a control freak?

Well, there's the most obvious, which is that she clearly has a crush on him. There's a few companions who debatably had a crush on him, and others who almost certainly did, but Serena's the first one who actually joined him because she likes him. For the rest, they didn't like him at first and slowly started to develop feelings for him. I'm holding out hope that Serena doesn't end up being the opposite (i.e. she gets over her feelings for him and starts to see him more as a good friend). I'm optimistic that she'll end up being Ash's first ever canon girlfriend ^^

And you're sure she do this without resorting to Amy Rose or Sakura Haruno methods.

    She won't. She's not pink.

So you're saying that only pink characters threaten people with violence/a hammer to get them to return their feels, and hit them over alleged idiocy/possible pervertedness, and that none of these things apply to Serena at ALL, and we can all be relieved, because Ash is safe this region from any negative interaction or Ms. "Bossy-for-his-own-good".

    We'll see.

She's the least sarcastic out of the 5 main females that Ash travelled with. Her fondness to fashion is kinda similar to Dawn and the way she is yet to catch any Pokemon is kinda similar to May.

I'd say she's kinda a blend of the previous four.

I think Serena's slow start and lack of interest in battling is a big difference. May warmed up to pokemon quickly and Dawn was already battling.

Oh God, PLEASE don't bring her up. Ugh.

Anyway, she seems to be a mix of the previous four in various ways. She does however, have a lot of potential to be an extremely popular character. (Though she already is to an extent.)

Please don't say that. I need to have something to watch.

That is of course when they start giving her more character development. She's been playing second fiddle and not getting more spotlight since the Rhyhorn Race episode, I'm starting to worrying that her entire purpose in the show was for pure eye candy, as what could shown from one of the upcoming episodes on March, as well as explicitly pandering with shippers unlike the previous four, making her not as good as May and Dawn.

The least they can do is have her catch more Pokemon, and not have her act motherly or get into a dispute with Ash (all for girls have done this).

And see if she fits any of these categories:
Thoughtful, serene, kind, very gentle, incredibly empathetic
