So basically, somebody has asked you to carry out a mission for them, for the grand total of 1,000,000 of whatever currency you use (£s, $s etc). It's a Pokemon related one. This person has asked you to carry out an interesting task for this big money. They're asking you to take a Pokemon from The Red, Blue or Yellow game, and successfully transfer it to a Pokemon Pearl, Diamond or Platinum game. You have all possible methods of trading E.G. Link cables, Pokemon Stadium games, Pokemon Box ,and all Pokemon adventure games that have ever existed (Gen 1, 2 3 and 4).

You eagerly get to work, and can feel the excitement of millions pouring into your bank account. Then you're stopped in your tracks with a daunting question. Is it possible to actually do this?

So my question is not only "Can it be done?" but also "How far would you go tryng to find ways of doing it for a reward of becoming rich?".

    Discuss.

It's absolutely physically impossible. It has been proven that no one can do it. Smarter men than me have tried and failed, so I don't think I'd go very far to do something that I know is impossible.

I'd just use PokéSav to create the same pokémon he wanted transferred, and then take the $1,000,000.

Yeah. Correct. As I know I really can't do it there's no point in trying to do it.

Okay, here's another question. Despite link cables, migration etc, where's the gap? What's stopping us?

What I meant was that could it be possible to trade from Red to Gold to Sapphire etc etc until you got to Diamond maybe?

That's too bad :/. It would be awesome to play with Pokemon we caught years and years ago.

I also agree, well I'm happy for Heart Gold and Soul Silver we can pretend that these were the Pokemon we were raising many years ago

The gap is due to various changes in gameplay mechanics between Generations II and III. I believe the main difference was the change to the IV system, from a scale of 0-15 to 0-31, and the fact that they no longer determined gender or colouration. There was also the addition of natures and abilities that would have been impossible to calculate if Pokémon from Gen II were traded to Gen III.

I'm pretty sure there was gender specification when you traded from Pokemon R/B/Y to G/S/C. At least, in my experience. I'm pretty sure the gender was randomly generated.

I can't see how the natures an abilities couldn't have been randomly automated too, when trading from Gold to Ruby, for instance. Since there are only a certain amount of Natures/Abilities foreach Pokemon I ink it could be done without too much complication. It didn't happen though, unfortunately.

I may have misunderstood you, GI. Please point me out if I have.

As far as I know, there are no existing games where original Game Boy cartridges (or Game Boy color cartridges) are able to "communicate" with Game Boy Advance cartridges. Pokemon are just sections of code, and my best guess is that Game Boy Advance cartridges won't translate the bits of code that Game Boy games send into a Pokemon -- most likely due to the new features in RSE such as natures.

That would truly be something incredible to be able to transfer pokemon from Blue to Diamond. But I have to agree, it is impossible.

Surely YOU can do it... Your sig says nothing is impossible to you!

    Tragically this isn't feasible.
There are no ways to trade from GB/GBC to GBA that was released. Yes, there could have been, but they didn't.
That's one of the reasons they're remaking the games - so people have a chance to reexperience a game with a new light. :)

    Close~
