International Pokemon hacking competition Pokemon The Real World
Ok let me first make it clear for you guy - Why is it "International"?
+ Because this game involves many countries in the world. - Are we going to compete?
+ Yes and no. While it is competitive between countries during the process, there's no such winner or loser (there's only a distinction between the one who gives up and the one who works until the end). We're all making this game for our world and you will be the main hands. - What's up with "the real world"?
+ Good question. So basically when we were kids, as soon as we be familiar with the world of Pokemon, we always dreamed of making the pokemon become true in the real world. However, years have passed and we still don't have the technology to fulfill the childhood dream. Nevertheless, we're able to create anything within the cyberworld. So instead of bringing the pokemon into the real life, why not take the real world to the cyberworld?
Are you with me so far? So the plan is: at first each team representing their country ( any country in this world, from US to UK, France to German, Russia to China, etc.)are going to build 1 city. Finally, we are going to link the cities together to create a complete pokemon game. We'll talk about the process of linking later on.
- Ok here are the very first rules for making the game:

1/ The game is based on PKM FireRed - GBA only
2/ Country on the game will only be built by its own natives

(Natives certainly know better than foreigners). Japanese takes care of Japan and Mexican takes care of Mexico, Thai cannot take care of Taiwan, ok!
3/ There are only 20 countries participating in this contest so be quick.

4/ Limit your country to 1 and only 1 city, NOT 1 REGION.

As I said that at the end we are gonna link all CITIES together. So the game will contain around 25 cites, pretty much enough for a GBA game. Hence, make sure you show what your country is made of in a city and please make it interesting and mysterious (like the "Great Wall" is actually part of Regirock. Just a suggestion for the game, Chinese :P)
5/ Don't put wrong information about your country.

Unless it's about PKM, it's simply lame if you make up sth that doesn't exist in the real world (Like don't yell that your country is the biggest in the world unless you are Russian, but it's ok to yell that you have the biggest PKM though)
6/ You are welcome (and encouraged) to use your mother language in this game, BUT make sure you use it along with English translation.

In addition, your language should be in some form that we (normal people around the world) can pronounce, that is, in alphabetic form. (EX: Japanese wants to say "Good morning" to the player, you should put it in this order. "Ohiyo gozaimasu - Good morning" don't put like this おはうございます – Good morning). Language is one of the beautiful components of a country.
7/ Every country should have a tour guy

8/ No new PKM

Since each city is constructed by different hackers, the fact that having a lot of unofficial PKM will make the game confusing. Nevertheless, you are encouraged to design new appearances of people which fit your culture.

I know it's hard to do but can't a team complete just 1 city thoroughly? Beside, it's frustrating playing an incomplete game and players probably will quit and move on to another one.
- The main story: Although every team is expected to design its own story, events for its city. It'll probably get loose once we link them up so I have devised a main story for it. And make sure you follow it (but still be creative, just don't go off-topic)

Year 2019, an alien was wandering around the Milky Way Galaxy, searching for a living planet. It advertently saw a green one just in the third of the solar system. It tried to approach it, closer and closer, and then… BOOOOOOOMMMMMM. The next thing it knew, it was recovering in a Poke-center. Fortunately, its ability to disguise as the creature on this planet and to speak the languages there had saved it from those Earthlings' suspicion. After few conversations with people around, the alien found out that the living planet was on its destructing era, the World War 3. So how someone, who is not from Earth, is gonna save the world with one starter, Deoxys?
The rest is up to you guys, remember to be creative but still stick to the topic (I believe at such time, every country was in chaos so we all have stories to tell). Of course in the end our hero will defeat the dictator who starts this war, yet, surprisingly, the story still keeps going. Click here for more specific details about the plot (WARNING: unless you want to participate in this, I'd not guarantee you to look at it since it contains many surprised stuffs that you probably don't want to know it until you play the game. So be patient. The main story already has enough information for you to decide whether to sign up or not. This one below is just to make sure competitors here won't go off-topic ;) )

1st scene: The firered introduction will give the player a brief information about your background in the game, which is an alien at year 2019 searching for a living planet and so on... 2nd scene: this is where Prof. Oak usually appears but I'll replace him with a General, who is a scary looking alien giving his announcement to the soldiers (the player here is one of them) that the planet they are living in may stop providing them profits soon due to environment destruction. So they've got to find another living planet to survive. 3rd scene: is where you choose the gender. Both of them look like half Earthling and half Alien coincidentally. You are not going to name the rival here, which is another alien, nor to see his appearance but you will meet him many times in the game. 4rd scene: is where the story begins. Same as the main story that I have posted in my thread. You found the Earth inadvertently then got shot by a laser beam, ended up unconscious in a Poke-center during the World War 3, waked up and decided to prevent the world from destruction with Deoxys as a starter. Then the first country is gonna handle the next task. ending story: as I have said, you will defeat the dictator in the last country here, who you assumed that is the final boss, but later on you'll find out that the story has not ended yet. The fight will keep going to South Pole, where the main HQ of the enemy is. Then you'll discover that the one who is behind all of this is actually the General from your planet and he is trying to invade the Earth (he is also the final boss in South Pole). Of course you'll battle some aliens and then defeat the boss. Therefore, please make our hero and the rival the only aliens in your country. I wanna save the surprises for the end. About Deoxys and the rival why am I choosing Deoxys as a starter here. Because it's from outer space and it has the ability to transform into other states. At first it has only normal state and is kinda weak. But as the story goes on, some thugs are gonna kidnap it from the alien, but then the alien rescue it back from the next country, after that Deoxys gradually builds up its ability to transform. However, the alien here doesn't notice this until the last battle with the rival. Speaking or the rival, he is the only alien on Earth beside our main hero. But again our hero doesn't notice it (I think I will make this rival looks like Death from Family Guy lol) until the last battle between them, where most secrets and surprises are gonna be revealed. At first, our hero thinks the rival is just some Earthlings who enjoy messing around with him, but the rival knows his true identity though our hero tries to disguise himself to look like human. After the last battle with the rival, the rival will give our hero the programm which completes Deoxys' ability to transform, which will save our hero quite many times later on.

Certainly. Sign up and I'll organize you into a team with same nationality. A team will be completed as soon as there are enough people to handle everything it takes to build a city. First comes, first served. So the first team is going to have its country visited by this alien first, and then the next team and… Up to 20 teams only. Actually, since this is about the World War 2, these countries are essential: US, UK, France, German, Japan, Italy, and Russia. So there are only 13 places left for those who are not from these. In addition, a team can only have a maximum of 5 members so if you are late, don't worry you still can be a volunteer.

+ Age and years you have been hacking this helps me to choose the leader for your team + Nationality + E-mail though I'll usually try to contact you through this forum, having your email is better in case you don't come to this forum often and for those who don't have an account here. + Tasks you can handle if you know how to write script and insert music and you are SURE that you can take them BOTH AT THE SAME TIME, put scripter AND music inserter. If you are able to do only 1 of them, put scripter OR music inserter.
Note: once you decide to participate, you have to be responsible and must stick with it until the end because you are not the only one here. There are several people who are gonna work this out so don't let the whole community down. Also, don't make your country look bad by giving up. Got it? - Leader's rights and responsibility

1/ First thing first, operate and maintain the team effectively. Make sure that your decisions are fair and square.
2/ Second (yet this's supposed to be the first task to do), leader needs to check the proofs of work from his teamates as soon as possible. Due to the lack of time and the large amount of competitors, I have only tested the works of the leader only so I have no idea the level of others. After doing this, if the leader is not satisfied with one's works, just simply reject him. If a member gets accepted, he will be officially the competitors of the game.
3/ Leader has the right to fire or recruit a hacker without my permission. However, the maximum and minimum numbers of members in a team are 5 and 2 respectively. In additon, leader has to inform me immedietly via message after doing so and don't forget to refer the reasons. If the rejected hackers complain to me that the reasons are not fair and somewhat personal or sth like that and I find out that it's true. The leader gets fired.
4/ A leader can have a co-leader if he wants
5/ It is expected that the leader should report to me the status of the team frequently (how it is going, got a new member, etc). I will only get the reports only from the leader since there are many members. If a one has any problem, let the leader know first and then the leader will inform me in case the team can't solve it. If the problem is about the leader, pm me directly. Hence, excuse me for not answering questions from a normal competitor.
That's all. The very first 5 rules for the leader. Surely it contains some flaws and not completed yet so I will update later. If you spot some errors or have some suggestion, feel free to pm me (through your leader ;))

im sorry but ill have to take a pass on this one, ive only been hacking for 2months now and im well underway in making a hack. it was a solo but i have formed a small team of about 4-5 people.

@ Ninja: this is a great idea. Thanks a lot. Following the WWIII will boost up the creativeness of the hackers instead of depending too much on details about WWII (and you are right, WWII is old and not fun to mess with :-j). Anyway, since I have set a rule that is "don't put wrong information", the years should be close to present, 2019 is perfect :)
@ mrhaxmaster: thanks, the banner is really something, simple but clear, I really appreaciate it. Yet I'm trying to figure out the image of the player (u know half Earthling and half Alien) to put it on the left of the banner then it'll be perfect. But until then, yours is good enough.

Anyway Denali, I like the way you are working with such high-speed even though you still have your game to do. However, I need to make sure there are at least 10 countries participating in this competition, otherwise it'd turn out to be "PKM The Real America" instead of "PKM The Real World". By the way Denali, how did you team up so fast? Are you the only one on your team or you have already recruited some henchmen from other web sites ;)). If you have done so, plz declare their infomation here just like the registration form. They don't need to present here though.
Referring to the name, typically it'll appear on the map as it always does in the real world: USA. But feel free to use the other names in the story, or you don't have to use any of them. EX: just show the player a NAXA building and we'll know immediately that it's America (btw, NAXA is in America, rite? lol *kidding*)
@Ninja: If you check the rules on my first post, you'll see the statement "Don't put wrong infomation about your country". Hence, if I make the year become 2941, who knows:-", some people might claim that by such year they'd have hundreds of Pyramids with tons of gorgeous mummies even though they are not Egyptian. So I should make it somewhere close to present. Got it? :D

I could use all the help I can get, Fan King. I'm fairly new at hacking and I'm still learning the ropes. Just think of it, man, we can make our own tiles, sprites, everything! We could make the White House, the American Flag, Mount Rushmore, and a bunch of other cool things!:P

I also have a question. Can we also make scripts or buildings resembling the past. Like make scripts refering to past wars like Hitler in WWII? Or would that count as being offensive to countries? Just wondering.
@ Denali: You can check back the updated story to see that I have made it year 2019, about the WWIII, so no more Hitler hanging around:). Actually as I said, the first country to register here will be the first one to be visited by the alien and the last country is where our hero defeat the mad dictator (I think that country wouldn't mind because of the main reason at the end of the story). The rest is still the same.
@ FanKing: if you are really into it, you can be the one providing ideas in the team or you can learn how to hack in the tutorial threads though. Then you can participate. :D
