Interstellar

Spoiler:

tl;dr

Prepare to be amazed for nearly three hours
Yeah, all of this. I thought it was a grand, wonderful, beautiful movie.

I AM SO EXCITED ONE OF MY HOUSEMATES IS TOTALLY NERDING OUT OVER IT AND IS DEMANDING THAT WE ALL GO AND SEE IT AND AAAAAAAA

i had to scroll really quick past this thread to avoid spoilers just so that i could make this ****post and i dont even care i cannot wait don't judge me
Go see it when high, it'll be the greatest trip ever.

Sooo, I'm just back from seeing it. It was awesome! I think the graphics designers did a really good job about representing all these physics theories and making it understandable to watch.
Also, the acting was great, the story and the emotion was great.

And man... THAT SOUNDTRACK!

This, in a cinema, at very loud sound volume, during an action scene... Eargasm. Plus it goes up in intensity during a couple of minutes.

Oh my god. Did anyone else notice the ticking noise going on in the music on the water planet? No wonder I was at the edge of my seat there, I can't listen to more than a few seconds of this before nearly crying with goosebumps. Zimmer did such a fantastic job in this movie it should be illegal:

EDIT: omagaaahd the album is on spotify already. https://open.spotify.com/album/7a78GiEowpaCa7ZJs44xUU

A couple of friends told me the movie was good and wanted me to tag along, so eh, I did. The music and visuals were awesome, sure, but

Spoiler:

I seem to be the only one who was happy that the movie got a happy ending :D
Spoiler:

I don't really perceive the ending to be happy. he finally gets to see his daughter one last time, but she's really old and dies. it's bittersweet, really.

I thought it was rather sweet overall. Their relationship had already reached catharsis when she understood the watch's ticking, and Cooper got a new life to spend in the other galaxy with Brand. It was a pretty awesome ending, stupid coincidences aside.

i found the last 10 or so minutes with mcconaughey rather gimmicky so i'm not completely licking nolan's ass on this one
like
i thoroughly loved that particular scene when i was watching it but when i left and started thinking about that particular part (being vague in order to not spoil), i was thinking 'well huh, that was a rather convenient way to tie things together. whatever, i guess.'
that's my only criticism though

everything else i loved about the movie
the score, the cinematography, matt damon, etc
didn't like the underlying white saviour narrative that's present throughout so many space movies, but i guess that's something that will be discussed by a person far more learned than i

overall, an 8.5 out of 10
can't wait to see what oscars it gets
