You are a trainer who has started their pokemon journey in the Kanto region. You are decently into your journey but you are far from reaching the publicity level of champion or elite four contender yet. You have however been scouted for your great potential and strong pokemon. In your PC mailbox one day you find this email:

"This is an official invitation from Hieroglyph Labs to the island of Saliplan closest to Hoenn - home to many rare pokemon you will never encounter in Kanto. Here you will protect our team of field archaeologists from wild pokemon and thieves and alongside gain opportunities to capture new breeds of pokemon and compete in the special gym challenge in the resident town.

We will meet at Vermilion port on the 15th of April before 18:00 where we will give you your tickets. We will board the high-speed ferry at Dock C by 18:30, which is set to leave at around 18:42. We will hopefully reach Saliplan's shore at around 5:07 the next morning. After we disembark there will be a register called to check we are all present. We will then brief you on the activities that we will involve you in over the month of your stay. You will also be assigned a guide, whose instructions you must follow at all times, and a leader, who will also instruct you. You leader is also the person you should go to if you have any problems, queries or requests. Always do as your leader says, for your own safety and the safety of the team.

The activities that you will be involved in will include: accompanying our archaeologists to excavation sites and protecting them from wild pokemon, which are known to be merciless on Saliplan; catching wild pokemon on request for study; protecting our archaeologists from thieves who may wish to steal our excavation findings; taking turns to stay as overnight guards at our camps; and leisure time in the town where you can do whatever you like except disclose our activities to the locals, as this may attract thieves.

The climate on Saliplan is very hot and dry, please bring appropriate sun protection and light loose clothing that covers the body to avoid sun and heat stroke. We recommend you wear a wide-rimmed hat or something else to keep the sun off your head and neck, and bring some loose, thin cloth or a face scarf in case of sandstorms. There will be guides present, please do not deviate from their instructions and stay close to the group at all times. While food and water will be provided we ask you to provide extra bottled water in case of emergencies.

All vital expenses will be paid, and transport will be provided, however we recommend you bring extra spending money for your leisure. We hope to receive your confirmation soon.

    Sincerely,

    Robin. H. Herring

    Team Coordinator."

The letter gave off the impression that it was sure you had already agreed to go, but it does ask you to confirm. After some thought, you decide that you want to take up the challenge to supplicate your pokemon training and catch some rare pokemon seen nowhere in Kanto. You send your reply to say that you will join, which is returned with an automated thank-you.

You have plenty of time to travel to Vermilion port and gather your things. Once there, you will meet some of the team you will be working with for the next month.

Francis introduces himself first. He has a sports bag slung over his shoulder and is dressed in a light cream suit and plain lunar blue tie. He seems very down-to-business and immediately clarifies who he is, introduces his coordinator Robin, and his assistant Louise. He rattles off a list of supplies and asks that you have brought them, you check off each item in his list. After that he responds with "okay" and turns away, seemingly disinterested in you. He checks his watch, before looking out to the sea.

Robin approaches you and takes your name for the register with a warm smile, in contrast with his companion. He ticks your name off on a sheet attached to a clip-board. He is wearing a loose white t-shirt with a light thin jacket over the top, and a pair of light loose khaki brown pants, the type with buttons on the sides and that roll up at the bottoms and a pair of walking shoes. He seems like the type to wear outdoor clothing design brands even in casual situations. That and the fact his black, wavy hair could give people the impression that he just arose out of bed, tells you that this guy is not very formal at all. He seems to be guarding a couple of small suitcases.

Louise is typing away on her laptop. The young pony-tailed red-head also seems to enjoy her off-track outdoor clothing, and also dresses in loose-fitting styles. She is wearing a pair of shorts and a dark green sleeveless t-shirt, just for the ferry journey. She sits cross-legged hardly acknowledging you while she remarks about how her laptop will probably overheat and die when they get to the island. She seems stressed and sarcastic, but she makes an effort to smile and say hello after she's snapped out of her sarcastic moment.

You then wait for others to arrive.

    Rules:

    1) Use the form provided for sign-up.
    2) Your character must be a trainer who has a team of trained pokemon, minimum number of pokemon being two. Unless your character has lived elsewhere, owned pokemon should be from Kanto.
    3) Your character must not have reached the Elite Four yet and their pokemon must not be any stronger than the Elite Four. Pokemon levels should be approximately (but not strictly) between 25 and 45.
    4) You can control established NPCs as long as you keep them in character. All NPCs can be controlled by anyone.
    5) You can control another player's character with their permission. Be sure to check the OOC thread regularly to see if someone has asked your permission to play your character. Keep this to a minimum and only where necessary, or with mutual agreement from the other player.
    6) You can encounter and catch wild pokemon. Try to be sensible about it, rares should stay rare, most of your encounters should be common pokemon, and avoid encountering pokemon in the wrong locations. A list will be provided when (if) the RP begins. I will let you know if the pokemon is caught, capture is not guaranteed.
    7) Start with a single character. If you want to make a second character, or claim an NPC as your own character, please make a sign-up for it and wait for approval. Once you claim an NPC, it is no longer an NPC and becomes your character. You can also introduce your own NPCs, without a sign-up, which means they can be controlled by anyone, but they should not interrupt the central plot. Some NPCs cannot be claimed, such as those essential to the central plot.
    8) The RP story will be updated every fortnight. A register will be taken each time. If you did not post within that time, your character will be considered missing in the story and should you return you will have to play along as though you were missing for some reason. To avoid this, don't get left behind, post at least once a fortnight. If you can't post for some reason, let me know in the OOC thread, and your character will be on the register as a background character even though they were not mentioned in the RP.

    Sign-up:

    Name:
    Sex:
Age: [You can be any age you like, even an oldie who just started out pokemon training]
Length of time spent as a trainer: [consider that the normal length of time to reach the elite four is about a year if training intensively, if slower than that it could take much longer]
    History:
    Personality:
    Physical description:
Pokemon: [make a mini sign-up for each major pokemon party member: name, species, personality history and description will suffice. It doesn't need to be in as great depth as your human character. Give approximate levels of your pokemon, not too strong, not too weak.]
Other: [Optional. Anything else you feel doesn't fit in any other category]
RP Sample: [Write an RP sample about your character arriving at Vermilion port and meting the introduced NPCs and players who have already signed up before you. It should be at least a couple of paragraphs. This is a vital example of your writing ability and will probably determine whether or not you are accepted]

I will make an OOC thread if the RP gets at least a few sign-ups.

    RP Sample:
Zach walked across Vermillion city to the docks where he was supposed to meet some people... what were their names? Zach thought to himself. Oh there they were! Zach walked up to the nicest looking person and said "Hi, My name's Zach. Who're you?" "Oh I'm Robin, Nice to meet to meet you." After saying this He checked Zach's name off a checklist Then Zach noticed a couple of suit cases behind Robin, "What are those?" Zach asked "Oh.. um nothing, never mind." He replied nervously.

Zach walked up to a girl on her laptop who Zach thought was Louise, "Hi I'm Zach!" He told her.
She replied nicely "Oh hi Zach! A word of advise, if you've already checked in with Robin try to stay away from Francis for now, he seems kinda on edge..."

Is that long enough or do I need to do more of the RP sample?

I shall create a Cs shortly, within a day as a worse-case scenario. Also, as a question about the Pokemon creation set-up. What levels do you deem acceptable for them, since you were rather vague in that area. I would assume that you mean roughly fifteen to twentyfive, although that's just my opinion. Also, on the note of Pokemon, do those which have been previously caught have to be from Kanto?

cookiez: Your sign-up is not complete. You need to add time spent as a trainer. You will also need to correct spelling, grammar and paragraphing errors. Where was your zangoose caught? Because it can't have been in Kanto. Also, your pokemon sign-ups are incomplete and not formatted (name, species, personality history, description and level).

You sign-up in general seems very rushed. I'll have to ask you to revise and take more time on it, for now it's not accepted.

Archipelago: I'll correct that in the OP. Acceptable is nothing above the Elite Four, like 45 or below. Not too weak either, at least over 25. Unless your character has journeyed or lived elsewhere in the character history then caught pokemon should be from Kanto.

Wants. I've been itching to write a good SU lately. *waves fingers*
What does "fortnight" mean? *googles* OH TWO WEEKS? No probs there~

So, reserve me please. I'll type up an SU now today.

EDIT: Just a question. Is professor Oak, well, existing? Can he give out a starter, if I explain in the history why he did it? I don't really like the idea of professor Oak just handing out starters like a machine to anyone xD If not, then can I catch one of the starter pokémon in the wild?

No problem. There isn't really a limitation on sign-ups. I'll just give 24 hours notice when I'm closing sign-ups when we have a reasonable number. You're reserved, along with Archipelago.

You can have any history to your character really, I didn't want to be too stifling on your creativity. So if you want your character to have been given a starter by Oak (yes he exists) under special circumstances, or found a starter in the wild, that's okay. I just don't allow things too off-canon like catching a Hoenn-exclusive pokemon in Kanto

Alright. And there isn't a limit to SU length, is there? xD *looks at wall of text*

Ok, I think I've got the three Pokemon in which I plan on using with that new information. My sign-up should be ready soon enough.

EDIT: Oh, and one other thing. For the Pokemon's moves, would we be able to use any move that they can have at that level (you know, minus TMs and such), or should we choose four that would be available at that level?

Mwaah, I'm pulling out my SU ^^ Shouldn't be a problem since nobody has been accepted yet, right?

Seems interesting. I'm guessing they can't have been to another region before Kanto? I'll finish this up later.

I'd like to reserve a spot for this RP. Going out with the family today so won't have time to write one until later.

Here's my Sign-up sheet as I promised. Enjoy!

    Character

    Name: Melody Bennett
    Sex: Female
    Age: 16

Length of time spent as a trainer: A little under a year and a half, or 17 months if you prefer. In that time though, Melody never really bothered with Gym battles, but was still a keen battler, and has trained her Pokemon well enough.

History: Born in the higher-class areas of Cerulean city to a fairly wealthy family. Her early life was fairly spoilt due to this, but Melody made the most of it, even if she was never one to think of herself as better because of this. This did however mean that Melody had a little lack of knowledge when it came to travelling or surviving in the wilderness. Although that was never a problem, since Melody never really thought of the idea of Pokemon training as that interesting, and as such, never really knew that much about it. Living her life was the only thing on Melody's mind, and she did that rather well in all honesty. Nothing particularly interesting happened, at least nothing concerning her.

Her father owned a some-what large inter-region shipping and technology company, although Melody knew absolutely nothing about it, other than the fact he was rarely even home, and Melody was often looked after by her mother. While her father tried to keep in contact and heave a healthy relationship by sending gifts and presents while he was away on business, relationships were somewhat tense and lonely, as the two rarely managed to see eachother. As such, Melody was used to not seeing him, and managed to make things work, and that eventually moulded into her ordinary life.

School had never been a really important part of life other than a chance to meet up with her friends and such, since schooling was never a real problem for Melody, since, despite her lack of common sense, was a rather bright student. However, upon Melody's tenth birthday, even her friends wouldn't stay. They all began to leave off on their own Pokemon journey's, at first it was only one or two, but as the years went by, eventually nearly all of them had left, which gave Melody the idea to at least try Pokemon battling. To start her off, her Father managed to acquire Melody's first Pokemon, a Ponyta nicknamed Ashva. The two were remarkably similar, and the two began training for battles and such.

About a year later, the two set out from Cerulean and headed south. While Melody now had a taste for Pokemon battling, she really felt no need to fight in gyms, and was more or less just doing it to travel. Although the trip down to Saffron was somewhat uneventful, the two did enter in a battle competition and managed to win, although only just. The prize for first place was the rare and extinct Kabuto, which was named Knight.

So Melody, Ashva and Knight ploughed on west to Celadon, hearing that it was a great place to stock up on supplies and resources for further travel to the more distant places like Cinnabar Island or Pallet Town, and quickly made their way towards it. Of course, there was a second reason why they arrived here. Melody had been trying to find a Grass-type which she would enjoy using, and had heard that the Gym here was based on that type. Someone here must know where to find a good Grass-type! Within a few minutes though, Melody ran across a Bulbasaur who had recently been annoying nearby Pokemon and picking fights with them. Using Ashva, the battle wasn't particularly difficult, but Melody was new to actually catching Pokemon, so she missed a couple of throws, but eventually caught it. And to be fair, almost regretted it. The new Bulbasaur – nicknamed Violet – wasn't exactly the most pleasant Pokemon, being the most arrogant and stubborn creature she had ever met. Still, she wasn't a bad fighter by any means, and was kept as a rather useful combatant, even if she is used sparingly.

Personality: Being somewhat older than most at starting their Pokemon journey, it would be safe to assume that Melody would be more mature than others. But within a few moments talking to her you'd realise you were wrong. Having a somewhat comfortable early life, Melody's a some-what childish character in all honesty, not having experienced some of the more fearful aspects of ordinary life, like the much more violent Pokemon of Saliplan islands. The girl's a fairly naïve character, and completely impractical, which are two odd qualities for a Pokemon trainer, and ones which really aren't useful. Still, this does leave her as a remarkably upbeat person, and rarely ever one to feel upset or depressed. Her straightforwardness often gets things done quickly, although it might occasionally sound like an insult if she's asking about something more personal, but it's not meant as that, and just her natural curiosity getting in the way of things.

Along with her childish nature, Melody seems to have a much more sideways look at the world rather than someone who is much more academic. A strong believer of Karma, Melody often tries to do the right thing, even if her lack of mental maturity may often cloud that thought. Her self-created beliefs may seem to be a little odd at times, but her Pokemon have gotten used to that kind of behaviour, or at least pretend to have. While Melody does like to keep up a cheerful atmosphere around herself and the group, there are her times, - just like anyone – when she just can't managed to keep a cheerful grin. Of course, something truly horrific has to happen for her to break down, but when it does, she really takes it hard. She can't help those emotions, but the occasional mood-swing can be a 'tad annoying. She's also a left-handed vegetarian if that's of any use.

In combat, Melody's combat style truly depends on which fighter she is using, but there is one basic point in which they all revolve around; bewilderment. If the foe becomes confused by a stream of attacks, they wont be able to counter, so that is what Melody prefers to do. Most of the time with this tactic, speed is an important factor, but not the only attribute to her style.

Physical description: Standing at roughly 5'2, which is somewhat below average female height, although she hasn't quite stopped growing yet. Melody comes from a family of fair skinned red-heads, and she doesn't step a foot out of line with that. Slightly freckled pale skin and long ginger hair which is fairly straight and reaches down just below her shoulders. Her hair curls slightly at the ends naturally, and always seems to returned to that even if it's straightened. To be fair though, Melody prefers it that way, providing she can keep her hair out of her eyes. On that note, her eyes are a pale shade of green, and show a general sense of cheerfulness that only her personality can match. Melody's form is ever-so slightly muscled from the recent travels, although its barely noticeable, and her body is slightly curved. Finally, a small, and ever-so-slightly upturned nose is accompanied by tiny dimples whenever she smiles, which is quite a lot considering her upbeat nature.

Bright colours are Melody's chosen clothing, preferably something bold like yellows or reds. Dark colours just don't suit her, finding them dull and boring. At the point which she leaves for the port, Melody wears a skirt which reaches down to just above he knees, and works rather well at protecting her legs from the sun which is inevitable on the Saliplan Islands due to the skirt being fairly loose and flowing, but still allow her legs to be cooled by the wind. Furthermore, yellow sandals (not practical for the situation, but Melody's never been that practical) are worn on her feet, although Melody will probably regret the day she brought them, since they constantly slip off of her feet. Finally, Melody wears a white sleeveless top, which fits comfortably to her body.

Jewellery-wise, Melody has never been a fan of it, and as such, wears pretty much none. However, she does wear a single silver bracelet around her right wrist, which she has had since she left home for her journey.

    Pokemon

    Name: Ashva
    Species: Ponyta
    Gender: Female
    Level: 37

Melody's first Pokemon, and the one which has probably become her best friend out of the group. Both trainer and Pokemon are remarkably similar, both of them being curious and somewhat childish. Making a strange combination of pack-mule and fighter, Ashva continues to make an impression in Melody's team. While a little too small for her to ride, Ashva can occasionally be ridden should Melody need to make a quick escape, or even to light up a dark area. A living torch-light. Still, Ashva can be a little easy to spook that other Pokemon should she be surprised, which can be a common occurrence when travelling in an area with small Pokemon which weave between the Fire-types long legs. Still, should she be drawn upon in an upfront confrontation, she manages to hold her nerve, and manages to fight off foes with her speed.

While less used in combat than Knight, Ashva is still a potent combatant, and is often used in more social battles rather than competitive ones, since Melody enjoys battling with the Fire Horse Pokemon.

Born in a ranch outside of Cerulean, Ashva was bred as a race-Ponyta for leagues of just the sort, planned to be sold to the highest bidder. It just so happened that Melody's father was said person. After being bought about a year prior to Melody's travels through Kanto, Ashva was given as a present to the thirteen year old. Although young, the Ponyta was indeed a fast runner, and Melody began some basic Pokemon training with the Fire-type, and both slowly got to grips with tactics and battling and such. About a year later, Melody finally left to travel with Ashva as her first Pokemon. Things were fairly uneventful as they went along, minus the introduction of two new allies. During the early days of capturing Melody's second Pokemon, – Knight – Ashva became a mother and mentor figure to the tiny Rock/Water type, and slowly brought the Kabuto out of its shell, no pun intended.

Ponyta is somewhat of a smaller horse than others of her species, contradictory to Melody's other Pokemon, Knight. This means that ridding Ashva to travel would be slightly more difficult, but still possible. Her fur is a slightly whiter colour than the typical cream colour, but the areas around her hooves are the typical cream colour in which most Ponyta are.

    Name: Knight

    Species: Kabutops
    Gender: Male

    Level: 41

By far Melody's most well trained an loyal Pokemon. As such a vicious and ruthless fighter, it's hard for his trainer to believe that before Knight evolved, as a Kabuto, Knight was the single most timid and worried Pokemon Melody had ever met. But now, the Shellfish Pokemon is bold, brash, and seemingly without a sense of self preservation, which in all honesty, makes a good combination for a combatant, at least with a Kabutops' skill set. In other words, Knight is Melody's powerhouse, ready to be called upon at any moment. The strange thing is though, that outside of battle, Knight changes quite a bit. The once ruthless killing machine has changed into a rather noble and patient creature, always hoping to make a good impression on others, following his nickname to the letter. But of course, if Melody isn't around to calm Knight, try not to make him angry. It probably wont end well...

The history of Knight is a fairly common one for his species. Revived from an ancient fossil found deep below the ocean surface. After the revival, Knight was soon headed off to a battle-contest in Saffron city as the top prize. The competition was for beginner trainers much like Melody, and she jumped at the chance, hopping to get a brand-new addition to the team. Although she had to prove herself with multiple Pokemon battles armed with only one Pokemon, with Ashva spear-heading the fight, Melody came out as the winner. Ever since then, Knight has become a loyal friend, and after some encouragement from the rest of the team, and the eventual evolution, Knight became a walking tank, proudly showing off his battle scars and physical strength.

Although Melody never really bothered with Gym badges, Knight was thrown into battle once or twice, making sure that his allies were kept at bay. This was shown at best during a battle just outside of Cerulean when they visited for the second time. Against a Scyther, Knight managed to deflect most attacks, but due to the Bug/Flying-types speed, was unable to fight back either. The battle continued on and on, before a particularly strong Night Slash caught Knight off guard, knocking him backwards. As a response, Knight almost exploded in light, and evolved into a powerful Kabutops. The two Pokemon parried, trying to beat eachother with Knight's new found speed, but the Scyther simply lacked Knight's defences, and knocked back the Mantis Pokemon with a good 'ole Aqua Jet. In fact, that was only a few days before the start of this Roleplay.

Obviously, no Pokemon is exactly the same, even if many of them keep similar physical qualities. The battle armour of Knight is slightly dented and worn, showing his battle experience. Not only that, but it is noted that most Kabutops are roughly 4'3", but Knight stands at a whopping 5'1", making him for his species absolutely massive.

    Name: Violet

    Species: Bulbasaur
    Gender: Female

    Level: 31

The "baby" of the group, Violet is by far the newest member to the squad, and currently the least experienced fighter. A somewhat impatient character, Violet often thinks of herself as the greats Pokemon in the world, and isn't afraid to try and prove herself. Yep, we have an arrogant Bulbasaur on out hands, who often underestimates other opponents, as she "knows" they can't be as tough as her. This stubborn approach to combat often leads Violet to ignore Melody's orders and simply leap into the middle of a fight, still thinking that her ideas are correct and that everyone else is wrong.

In fact, this is the main reason why Violet hasn't evolved yet, thinking that her evolution isn't needed to show others just how powerful she "is". While Melody admires this sense of self-belief, it's quite clear that the Grass/Poison type is just a little too confident. There is one time in which Violet will give up her stubborn nature and begin to shake in fear, which is when around a Charizard, her one and only fear.

Originally hatched in the forested highlands north of Celadon, Violet managed to learn the ways of survival from the clan in which she was born into. Although it should be noted that even a herd of about six Venusaur and their young can't hold off a hunting pack of Charizard. The clan was attacked, and only a few members of the herd escaped, but were separated. Heading south, Violet found refuge in a group of Bellsprout, and quickly forced herself as their 'Leader'. It was around here that the Grass type became the typical arrogant Pokemon she is today. But soon she moved south once more, and into human territory.

After arriving in Celadon City, Melody began her search for a Grass type, and her prayers were answered with the demon that was Violet. Being the first Pokemon that Melody actually caught, things didn't quite go as planned, with the Bulb Pokemon managing to dodge a couple of Pokéballs before finally being subdued by one. Although not seeing as much action as the other Pokemon on Melody's team due to her nature, but was used occasionally. Violet's stubbornness made her refuse to evolve even when the choice was available, and has remained as a Bulbasaur rather than an Ivysaur.

A tiny bit bigger than the average Bulbasaur. The main reason in which Violet was given her name is because of the creatures large eyes. They are just that colour, Violet.

    Other

    RP Sample:
Vermilion port was a place in which Melody had never actually visited before. She could have quite easily headed south after arriving in Saffron about a year back, but she had decided against it and gone west to Celadon. To think, that if Melody had only gone south instead of west that day she wouldn't have been stuck with the hell raiser that was Violet the Bulbasaur. She chuckled at the thought, before resting her hand on the Pokéball which held said Pokemon. Melody didn't dare let her out in a relaxed environment, since the Grass type would only unleash hell as she usually did. Still, it was nice to know that there were three Pokemon travelling with her than just two, even if both Ashva and Knight were capable fighters when they needed to be. A light, although almost echoing grunt came from beside Melody as she clambered her way through the remains of Diglett's cave. Melody would rue the day she decided to stay in Pewter city, or at least travel through Mt. Moon at all. Still, at least Knight – the Pokemon which had made that low grunt – had been doing wonders at charging their way through the rocky tunnel like a freight train.

"Ka... top," muttered the Shellfish Pokemon, as he lead the way through the somewhat dim maze of tunnels to be sure that Melody came to no harm.

Occasionally scratching his blades against the rocky walls, Knight continued to make heavy footprints in the ground, made soft from the constant digging of Diglett and Dugtrio. They weren't a huge problem to fight with due to Knight's Water-typing, but the mud made trekking across it painfully tiring, and in Melody's mind – just a little gross. Still, she continued forward by leaping from the occasional rock to the other, trying not to soak her sandals in mud. Shouldn't their be some other way for trainers without a Flying-type to get around easier? Apparently not.

Melody glanced at her Knight in dull brown armour. "Relax kiddo, we're gunna be outta here soon whether you like it or not!" she cheered, pushing a pebble away with her foot. "And besides, what's gotten you so worked up anyway? It's not like we're goin' to get attacked by any Golbat. You don't find 'em down here... I think..."

This did nothing to calm the some-what touchy Rock/Water type, as he continued to break in a path of clawed footprints into the soft earth below. The cave was slowly brightening now, which was a good sign. It meant that the trek into the cave was nearly over, and that Melody could finally get the mud and dirt off of her sandals. And get some fresh air at least. As Melody continued to follow her Pokemon, Knight was keeping his eyes peeled for any signs of movement. No doubt he could feel the tremors caused by Dugtrio underneath his feet, but he seemed to stay calm about it. No Dugtrio in this cave could stand up to one of Knight's Aqua Jet attacks, unless of course they were truly a powerful creature. Melody however could tell just how tense the creature was by his unusually heavy footing and somewhat sluggish movements. That would all change in an actually battle scenario, but for now it was just him being cautious. Melody rested a hand on the creatures shoulder, which seemed to subdue the worry for a moment, but that was soon washed away. Luckily however, that just didn't matter anymore. A few bursting rays of sunlight broke into the tunnel, slowly illuminating the somewhat dark area.

Melody almost threw herself outside, almost losing a shoe in the thick mud. "We're free!"

The Kabutops followed suit, and almost seemed to sigh at her comment. Melody always had been a more childish character. The one to overreact. The one to miss the obvious. The one to be naïve. Still, she was good hearted, and Knight knew she had potential as a trainer, at least to some extent. To think that once Knight had become in Melody's possession, he was almost scared of her, No, she was as harmless as a newborn Azurill.

As Melody's eyes adjusted to the blazing sunlight – at lease compared to inside the tunnel – she began to grasp her surroundings. She was near the sea, that was easy enough to tell. The smell of salt pierced her senses, and a lone Krabby scuttled along the nearby beach. If Melody had remembered correctly, then Vermilion was west of here, and they could get to the port-town simply by walking down the coast-line, which is what the two did. Well, Melody walked, but Knight took this time to swim through the waters, which was a rare occurrence when travelling more inland as Melody had been doing. He deserved a treat after what they had all been through. Never the less, it was soon enough that Knight was forced to move into shallow waters, where the tide barely covered his ankles. They were moving into the docking areas of Vermilion, and Melody just wouldn't put up with Knight being caught in a boat-propeller. And something told her the boat owner wouldn't be too pleased either.

Knight clicked his blades together slightly in annoyance that he had to leave the water. "Bu, Kabutops..." he grumbled, slowly moving out of the water and along the dry sandy beach to stand beside Melody.

Soon enough, Vermilion changed from the expanse of beach and few boats along the horizon into the city Melody had always been told it was. A bustling metropolis filled with people, boats, cafés, and anything else you'd expect from a city built by industries like fishing and ocean transport. But of course – much to Melody's dismay – she was not here to relax. She was on a mission to the docks!

    "Name?"

Melody spun round to the voice. "Huh?" she asked, completely oblivious to what this other was talking about. Why was he asker her her name, anyway? It sounded all a little bit suspicious to Melody, and she glared at the man slightly.

He looked back with a little confusion. "I need your name. You are here for the trip to the Saliplan Island aren't you?"

Gasping a little, Melody composed herself, standing up straighter than she was a moment ago. "Oh, yeah. That's me!" she cheered. "Oh, I'm Melody Bennett by the way," she added as if it were simply an addition to the answer this man wanted rather than the focus of it.

Behind Melody, Knight still stood patiently, brandishing his scythes as if he were about to attack, but made no movements what-so-ever, remaining perfectly still. The man meanwhile began to search down his clipboard, searching for Melody's name. He quickly drew a line on the paper which was presumably a tick beside Melody's name. He turned up and smiled at the girl. Knight was still staring at him, always being a little wary of new people.

"Ok, the boat should be leaving shortly after the others arrive, and in the mean-time feel free to just relax. I'm Robin by the way."

Melody nodded. "I take it you wouldn't enjoy me making Bat-man references, huh?"

Robin seemed to take no notice of the comment, and simply began to scan through his clip-board and then tick off any new-comers to the trip. Relaxation would have to wait however, as Melody was quickly intercepted by another person with a decidedly less cheerful expression. He wore a light-cream suit and had a sports bag slung over his shoulders. Two things you rarely see at the same time.

"My name is Francis," the man said, before beginning to recite a list of items off by heart. "Sun-cream?"

Melody knelt down and placed her bag onto the floor, and then unzipped it. She began to rummage through it for a while to seemingly no avail despite how much stuff was clogged in there. Eventually though, Melody pulled out a bottle of sun-cream.

Melody chuckled. "Factor fifty, I believe. Good for keeping sun-burn at bay, and I've got a couple of other bottles in there in case I run out for some reason or another." At this, she placed it back into her bag.

This 'Francis' character began to ramble on about a few other things in which she might need, each of which Melody managed to salvage from her bag, show it to him, and then place it back in. While she wasn't a fan of this much "security", it was always funny to glanced at Knight only to see him keeping that continuous, and slightly murderous stare. He must really not like these people. Francis then seemed to turn away as if he had just lost interest with talking to Melody. She had found him a little overly boring to be honest, and all he had done was check whether she had everything. Boring! Melody sighed heavily before picking herself back up into a standing position.

    "Now can I relax?"

Wait...this seems fun to join...but do I have space for it? *checks* Yes, I have!
Can I reserve a spot? My SU will be up by tomorrow, now is sleep for me.

    That's fine, reserved.

Seems interesting. I'm guessing they can't have been to another region before Kanto? I'll finish this up later.

    Spoiler:

Be sure to let me know once you've completed the sign-up.

I'd like to reserve a spot for this RP. Going out with the family today so won't have time to write one until later.

    That's okay, reserved.

All fields are extremely deficient of description, two words for personality won't do. Most of your pokemon lack the required information such as history (including how/where obtained) and personality. Sign-up form is very rushed, you didn't take the time to correct spelling, paragraphing, punctuation and grammar errors which there are lots of, nor to properly flesh out your character.

In comparison your RP sample wouldn't have been too bad actually had you fixed and tidied it up (again, bad grammar, spelling, lack of punctuation, paragraphing, etc). I do allow for a couple of mistakes, naturally we overlook our minor mistakes sometimes. But there's just far too many here, big ones too, you must have noticed them. I'm afraid your sign-up is not up to standard and I can't accept your character on the RP.

As with MichaelaTheUchiha, be sure to let me know when you've completed the sign-up.

Mwaah, I'm pulling out my SU ^^ Shouldn't be a problem since nobody has been accepted yet, right?

    Okay no problem.

EDIT: Oh, and one other thing. For the Pokemon's moves, would we be able to use any move that they can have at that level (you know, minus TMs and such), or should we choose four that would be available at that level?

You can have all moves your pokemon would have learned by that point (no four move limit) like in ASB. You can have TMs too. I don't know whether or not I should limit TMs though, maybe 2 or 3 per pokemon?

Just a question, is it possible for me to have a very low-leveled Pokemon like 5 to 10? Cos I plan on making my character receive an Egg which just hatched not so long before the email was received. If not, then I'll think of a way to make it follow the plot.

That's okay. I'm not too strict on the levels rule really, just as long as you have at least a couple of strong pokemon you can have some low level ones too.

A matter for urgent clarification: So far, who are the players who have signed up? I really need to know for my RP sample. I'm almost complete but without the information as said just now. :/
