Is Best Wishes the worst series or is that reputation unwarranted?

I'll admit I largely skipped BW. Should I give it another chance? Why or why not? I loved DP. When I remove the nostalgia blinders, I believe DP was the best series as a serious anime. I love XY as well because I also feel it's a serious anime.

If you like serious Pokemon Anime then BW probably isn't the anime for you. It's a hard reset that makes Ash incompetent in battles. At least he has a personality outside of battles though if that interests you.

I felt like BW didn't have a lot to offer compared to the others. I mean, there were nice animations and some cool battles, but that's it. The characters were the same and reused from before, except for Iris, but unfortunately she was incredibly annoying.

XYZ had a lot of growth... BW was just... a reset. That's it. And then the reset was kind of ignored later?

I'd say it's the worst.

Ash's bland team, his total downgrade in competence from the previous series, boring battles that over-rely on stock footage to an insane degree, Iris's total wimpification compared to the games where she's a child prodigy who becomes the freakin' Champion, Team Rocket's initial (legitimately interesting) change in characterization totally reversing itself and reverting them to the same characters they always are, a massive blueball in replacing Drayden with Roxie for the final Gym battle, a super-annoying lategame companion in Cameron, and an anticlimactic League.
