I agree in a way but if you look deeper it has the same basic structure so you sort of know what to expect anlthough as i said i do think these ones where more unique than the others i think for the new games they should alter it.
As a writer, let me tell you something:
there is no such thing is a unique story.
Yes, you heard me right. Nothing can
ever be original. Human beings, no matter where on earth we reside, have common beliefs about the world and ways to bring those beliefs into symbols. They're called
archetypes. Jung wrote whole books on the subject.
Stories cannot be entirely original because the people writing them are human, so will
always fall into some level of familiarity. What's important is the
way you tell the story, not the story itself. Over thousands of years there have been millions of heroes, lovers, villains, and battles of spiritual dominance... What sets them apart and lets everyone love each one and not call out unoriginality is because the journey, what happened in-between, makes them special. That's all a writer can really hope for.
If you take a look at the Pokemon games, you'll note that the plot does tend to be very similar... But if you actually know what 'plot' means, you'll know that plot is only the basic skeleton.
Story is what sets it apart. It should be obvious to everyone that the story has only evolved throughout the generations and is anything but a copy of what came before.
