I used to think so when I was about 14 or so, but college does some funny things... like make you suddenly interested in going trick or treating again. Actually, it's pretty much thanks to college that I became interested in Halloween in general again, and eventually Halloween becoming my favorite holiday.
But you're never too old to get free candy from folks while dressed up like you wouldn't normally be :)
I still trick or treat as a 19 year old in college as a Sophomore. As a matter of fact, I am going to do it this Saturday. Where I am at, the Saturday before Halloween, the neighborhood would have free candy and I would go there and get free candy and I am going to do it again this year.
I kind of stopped at around 10. Instead, I take the leftover candy I give out. It's a win-win situation, I get candy and I don't have to use precious energy going door to door.
The last year I went I was 16 lolololol. Anyway I wanted to end on a really good year and that was easily the funniest time I ever went trick o' treating so it worked out well. Personally, I much rather just go to the store and buy a bag or two of my favorite chocolates rather than go out and get half a bag of stuff I don't even like. Plus if you go the day after Halloween all the candy is usually discounted.
I stopped trick-or-treating when I was about 16. I don't really find it childish, and if you want to go trick-or-treating at 19, go ahead. I just lost interest in it eventually.
Well although it's aimed for kids.. if your upto it there's nothing stopping you it's just how you view it, I might be going this year with a few friends just for fun and that's what it's about really so no I wouldn't say so... not in my opinion anyhow.
You're never "Too old" or "Too Young" to Trick-or-Treat. I think that people who would shut the door in the face of an adult are being a bit unfair. It's one thing to give kids MORE candy because they're younger but it's another thing to deny an adult anything, unless you're running OUT of candy or are seeing too many adults grub up the candy. In this case it's just wise to buy enough to give to everyone.
Though I will admit, giving kids candy is one thing they deserve. If you don't give the adults anything however, you're gonna get "Tricked" and that's probably also the fun part of trick or treating.
But on the flipside, most Adults don't have the time to Trick or Treat and USUALLY they're chaperoning children on their treks to get candy.
I'm a nice person however and considering my own age, I avoid going trick-or-treating unless I'm acting as chaperone. BUT it is fun to dress up on Halloween and walk around, and pull a few innocent and harmless tricks, even if you don't get candy.
It isn't childish to want to trick or treating, and I believe people who firmly believe that it is are missing out. But ultimately it's their decision. No reason to make them do something they no longer enjoy...not everyone manages to recapture that interest. There's also no reason to judge those people who do still enjoy trick-or-treating.
I'd certainly be less willing to give confectionery to a 23-year-old than a 13-year-old, but if the former wants to try his or her luck door-to-door, I'm not going to physically stop them. I'm just not going to give them anything!
My answer is no. Everybody wants candy, right? And there are older people that like to dress up but not get totally drunk/high at parties and such, so...what better to do than trick-or-treat? :P
I don't think that you're ever too old to dress up for Halloween, but trick-or-treating kinda gets awkward after you turn 18, I mostly just go to Halloween parties.
