Is Verizon going too far with this and being a bit too ballsy?

Anything that has an ARM processor is not going to handle it that well :<

But Android itself is good :p

Tegra and Snapdragon would like a word with you...

Anyway, the Sholes Droid is looking to be Verizon's have-to-get phone. I just hope Verizon doesn't go branding crazy like they usually do.

As for the marketing of the device itself, as people have already said, the same goes for Mac vs. PC ads, car ads, and basically any ad that features competition (Lysol Neutra Air, I'm looking at you).

Ew... Droid may get the better grades, but the iPhone will still remain the prom queen.

Sorry I was talking ARM11 (ARMv6).

I wouldn't say it's "going too far," simply because they aren't going to socially compete with the iPhone anyway. They're up against Apple, and a lot of people are going to buy Apple no matter what they put out. And Verizon's device is just going to be considered an iPhone knock-off no matter how much 'better' they make it.

It's advertising, if it isn't made to put the other company down, you're doing it wrong.

(A) Your signature is blocking the quote button. I had to manually type the post URL to quote it.
(B) That's a bad picture. The reflections are overly obvious and it looks grainy.

Apple is McTechnology. A massive industry built on empty products. 'Bout time other companies had the juevos to knock them down.

I was more talking about the form and branding. :/

I've never liked the Motorola text on phones, it's an ugly bit of typography. Also I could be mistaken but it looks to me like they've gone with making it shiny too.
The branding in general in-fact isn't very aesthetically pleasing at all. :/
The Verizon logo looks clunky, the Motorola text being the same width as the top speaker doesn't look great, and overall it looks too cluttered to me; If you take a look at the iPhone, the only physical branding is on the back.
Here's a video explanation, not as extreme as this obviously, but it's the same principle. xD

As for the form it just looks too block-ish, if the step up from keypad was smoother then it'd look nicer.

Taking a look inside was also a bit of a let down when I saw the chrome centre button.

The current fashion for most people is to have their products looking as shiny and sleek as possible, the iPhone did it fantasticly, the DS lite pulled it off great too and you'll see it on the majority of new phone releases too.
However to me it seems like the Droid hasn't caught on to this, looking more like an old laptop than a fancy new toy to play with.

I think it's absolutely fabulous and adorable. I really want to know with the 2 year advantage how much it's going to cost because I want it. The only other phone out with Verizon right now that I'm slightly interested in is the LG Chocolate Touch but it won't be out for another like four weeks. ;3; It's a motorola and the only problems I've really had with those phones are the ones that stem from an over heating battery or a battery that loses its charge. I hope this phone has a battery that doesn't suck the life right out of it. o_o

It's a little clunky maybe but it looks almost like a mini touch screen laptop.

.
Its almost as thin as an iPhone so in no way is it clunky. May be a bit clunky opened slider but that's it really.
