hey, i've been playing pokemon for years, and have not long got leafgreen.

however, i'm really confused about the 'islands'. according to my friend, bill takes you to the first one after you've beat blaine on cinnabar island. apparently you can get one of legendary birds on one of them instead of their original place at seafoam/power plant/victory road.
also, Deoxys (not sure if thats how you spell it) is on one as well, and you have to solve a puzzle.

and there's something about passes.. aurora pass or something.

could someone please explain about these islands as i'm quite confused!
    thanks!
    :D

It's true that Bill takes you to the islands after you beat Blaine, but only the first three. After a while, you can go to the next four (I think it's four... my head isn't working well today...), but after that you need special tickets that you can only get through special Nintendo events (or by cheating) Deoxys is on one of the islands you need a ticket for, and Ho-oh and Lugia are on two different islands...
I'm pretty sure that's it, but other people here know more about this kind of stuff than I do since I can't get the tickets.

Oh, and you only find Moltres on the islands, Articuno and Zapdos are in their noraml places.

Yeah, when you beat blane, bill will take you to the first island, from there you get a pass between the first three islands, and you have to do various things before you can get back to kanto. You can go to the islands from Vermilion port, after this.

After you beat the pokemon league, you can get the "Ruby" on One Island. You have to give it to Celio (Bill's friend), and then you'll get a pass to the next four islands, in which you can catch many johto pokemon, and there is a breeding center. You then have to search the remaining four island for a "Sapphire", and once you give it to Celio, you can trade with Ru/Sa.

The last two islands are only reachable after you get tickets from a nintendo event (like the eon ticket in Ru/Sa). You can catch Lugea, Ho-oh, and Deoxys on these islands.

There are 9 of these islands, but you can only explore island 1-3 before you beat the elite four, then you can travel to 4-7 and catch johto pokemon, and play the last quest.
The other three islands you can't access without doing some special event. On islands 8 you can catch Ho-oh and Lugia and some other pokemon, and on island 9, which you access by going to a pokemon rocks america convention and doing mystery gift or something (i havent read up on it much, all i know is that i cant get there because im in canada), but you can catch Deoxys there.

also on island seven you can catch unown,
    to get all of them they are each in specific chambers out of the 6 and are classified as followed (from left to right);
    -Top left is Z
-Bottom left is all letters with more then one protuding part like W and X
-Second from the left is for all the letters with one protruding part like Y and T
-Third from the left are all the letters with a tail like P and G
-Third from the right are all the straight lines like N and I
-Second from the right are all the round letters like O (took me forever to get O) and C
    -Very right is A

thanks! i think i get it now.. its just i thought it was all just a jazzed up version of red and blue, which i am very familiar with, but their appears to be added bits!

its all so complicated! why didnt they just leave it as it was? the regis are confusing enough on sapphire and ruby... im glad you can trade with them though!

on the subject of tickets, what did the eon ticket entitle the player to?

Yeah, it's pretty cool! Ponyta is also found there! you can only catch "Out of Kanto" Pokemon once you get the National Dex, and you can trade with Ruby/Sapphire when you get a Ruby and a Sapphire to put up in the Island 1 PC.

Eon Ticket allowed people to get the other of the two Pokemon Latias and Latios. At the end of Ruby/Sapphire, you had the chance to catch one of these Pokemon running around wild - with the Eon Ticket you could get the other one as well on a hidden island. It didn't run away, so all you had to do was catch it.

Deoxys is on one of the islands.. On the other island you can catch Lugia and Ho-oh.

so the eon ticket was basically a commodity for people who did not have anyone to trade the other lati@s bird? i see. (god bless having 2 GBAs, both versions and a link cable)

Soul Dew? isnt that the item that doubles Lati@s Spc Att? just wondering as ive forgoten already? i think it doubles it or something...again im not 100% sure so please dont quote me on this.

    Jaws...

    *quick answer*
