  • So, finished up Gravitation. Surprised at how little loldrama there was, I mean there was some but I was expecting a lot more with Yuki's back story. 7/10.

    Also, my two....single bloke gets kid to look after out of nowhere manga series, Usagi Drop and Otaku no Musume-san seem seem to be preparing to wrap up all be it in different ways;

My manga-reading journey commenced with my very first manga, Dengeki Daisy. The plot, through the synopsis presented in MAL and a few other online manga publishers, seemed a little 'indirectly' stale. But after reading through a few chapters, my once-low expectations were gone.

    Anybody read that?

  • No, haven't read it.

My first foray into manga was the shoujo series Ultra Maniac. I quite enjoyed it, and it helped that it was only five volumes. Despite its brevity, it presented a full, engaging story that wrapped itself up quite nicely in the end.

Current manga activity: The "mystery-shoujo" series Arisa.

  • I haven't read it, my first shoujo manga series was probably Kimi ni Todoke, completley the opposite Battle Royale was my first manga ever.

Strange that you'd bring up Ultra Maniac as I downloaded the anime series last night, looks pretty good.

  • I've seen bits of the anime series, and it's pretty cool. One difference between the anime and manga though... in the manga Nina doesn't have an alternate "magical girl" outfit or a transformation sequence. Also the manga doesn't have the competition to collect the jewels or whatever it is they're collecting.

  • I downloaded it to replace Futari wa Precure on my watching pile, planning to have that finished within the next fortnight.

As for recent shoujo manga I started Alice 19th the other day, really nice start.

Also, why didn't anyone tell me No.6 was cool?

Does anyone play any Visual Novels here? I was wondering because I wanted to start trying them out, but I might need some help and such.

  • Aside from the language barrier for a majority of them and the process of actually acquiring and installing them (which is still pretty easy, but requires a little bit of digging if you're stingy), VNs should be self-explanatory just like any other video game. Click click click, save, make choice, click click click, get h-scene, click click click, get ending, repeat.

Have you played any yourself? What do you mean a little bit of digging? Oh and, there's some in English, at least that's what I heard, and aren't their guides for the one that aren't in English or something? ._.

Yes, there's some in English, though those are mostly the H-games (porn with plot type). For starters, go with the Higurashi or Umineko series, as well as Planetarian. Higurashi has an English release. Go buy it. Umineko doesn't have an official translation, but Ryukishi07 has given the translation project his blessing, so go buy Umineko too. Planetarian is awesome, so go get that too.
If you're insistent on having H-scenes, wait for Saya no Uta's English release to come out.

As far as digging goes, it's mostly the finding of games, and finding of translations.

I'd prefer games without h-scenes haha.

Where do they usually sell them at? And from what i hear, they're usually nothing like anime right?

    Thanks for the info!

    Ah okay thanks!

Has anyone seen Le Chevalier D'Eon? I'm going to start it soon and I just want to get some inputs on it.

  • For some reason, when I watched Natsume Yuujinchou, I didn't get any vibes of homosexual tension in the slightest. More hetero tension if anything. I only realized it was targeted at a shoujo audience when I read its MAL genres.

Natsume is supposed to be bishounen!? ._.

I actually liked it so far, I'm still in the middle of it tho.

Isn't it just the fantasy and friendship stuff that gave it the gave it the gay tag on /a/? I dunno.
Hey now! That stuff is actually pretty good. It's well thought out, and it's a lot better than a lot of the shounen anime I've seen.

  • Oh, totally. If anime isn't gay it's hardly worth watching, I thought you knew me better.

  • Ah, the good 'ol Nanoha x Fate shipping... and here I was, making an AMV for the Get-Together portraying them as "just" BFF's, lol

Aoi Hana is the best-executed yuri series I've seen, BTW.
