Well, I wouldn't watch anime, read manga, or play games at all if I couldn't get them free. I'd just sit here doing nothing all day in my tiny shack, because I have no money.

Eh, I support the industry in whatever way I can, but...

If I never pirated Azumanga Daioh, I never would've dropped $50 on getting both translations of the omnibus.

Same for LS, and Geass.

It's not that I'm saying I'm against piracy, I'm all for using piracy as a demoing medium because more than half the stuff out there really does suck, or we don't have access to it. It's more along the lines of "If you really like it, buy it when you have the money to do so" For example, just bought the first omnibus[1-3] of Cross Game. Kind of wish they split it into the three volumes though. Not totally against Omnibuses, but...I kinda wish they wouldn't do it so much...especially when it's the only version available. If they want to do quicker releases, they can just release more volumes each month...-_- <[understands the idea behind the Omnibus, wishes the normal collectors could get more out of it, especially since the volume divisions aren't separated by a color print for the cover of said volume]

Also, new supercell song, acting as a theme song for the manga Aoharu. Expect popularity of this manga to suddenly go up, even if there are no scanlations XD

I actually like omnibuses, because I feel like the price of each individual volume is equivalent to getting mugged in a dark alley every few chapters.

Azumanga, I think, is about $5-$15 cheaper in omnibus form, so yeah.

Which isn't to say I only buy omnibuses. I have 1-8 of Yotsuba, and about 12 issues of LS and Haruhi Suzumiya, collectively. And that's just the surface.

bah, never did want to grab the manga of Haruhi, always go for the Hardcover novels at the book stores.

My collector sense likes to see all the covers in full color, the omnibus kinda kills that for me. I guess it'd be better by a bit to have color pages for the covers, but ya XD I do understand the price perspective, but I'm a total sucker for cover art XD

Oh, I can totally relate, hence why I also always go for the hardcovers.

However, the covers have to follow a running theme, and look pretty damn nice.

Otherwise, as was in the case of Azumanga (The cover art varied too much, and the omnibus art looked clean, in addition to the fact that the spine looks cool on a bookshelf), the omnibus was just better, in my opinion.

In the case of Lucky Star and Haruhi, however...

I don't have any omnibus volumes, but it's more for the reason that they haven't been released for the manga I read.

The only one I think they released omnibus versions for was Kashimashi, and they did two omnibus volumes for five manga volumes (I can't recall if it was split 1-3/4-5 or 1-2/3-5).

Yeah, then again, I guess most series aren't as short as Azumanga.

Which is actually a really good, and really bad thing. It was long enough to know the characters, to love them and grow up beside them...

But just short enough to make you cry at the end, and feel like their school days went by so fast...

Most of the manga series I've read are pretty short; but like my anime many of them are outside the mainstream. Perhaps they didn't sell well enough to warrant an omnibus release. Though one of them (the manga version of Kimikiss) only just recently finished, so maybe a Kimikiss omnibus is in the works...

In other manga (not so) news, one series I had started following (Kasumi) seems to have fallen off the face of the earth after only two releases (and when the story was beginning to get really interesting:/ ) .

They need a Naruto omnibus. 5000000000000 chapters of Naruto and Sasuke doing obscene things, all in one, building-sized book.

I think the reason the Jump Three (One Piece, Bleach, Naruto) don't do Omnibuses is because they know for sure the normal volumes will sell. They can't guarantee the rest to sell, so they just put it in an omnibus.

That, and the omnibuses would be huuuuuuge.

In other news, Roswell has stolen my soul with Yggdra Union. She's a witch!

So I just watched FLCL, can somebody please tell me what the hell happened? It feels like somebody divided by zero in my head. Did it have lots of meanings or was it a simple coming of age with random mechas coming out of a kids head?.....i don't even know. It seemed pretty epic though.

Suika Ibuki:

Threaten to destroy all of Gensokyo, and she'll only get eager for a fight.
Attack/almost kill her friends, and she'll get annoyed, and try to take you on, girl to girl!

But dear Kanako, if you take away her source of alcohol...

I just rewatched Code Geass; I have nothing else good to play :( The new anime are so-so! Notin' lyk zi old wonz. However, my friends are recommending I take a look at Summer Wars; it's an anime movie. Anyone? Is it good?

I haven't seen it, the same director did Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo and that was very good so that plus it's reputation probably means it's good.

I'm having a very fulfilling afternoon watching the TTGL movies. Of course they haven't surpassed the series but still, gotta love the seizure inducing space battles. :L

I haven't seen it, but I did see a movie by the same director last night (Girl Who Leapt Through Time) at anime club. If Summer Wars is anywhere near as good as Girl Who Leapt Through Time, it should be worth a watch.

It'd probably be closer to say that it was written and directed by the guy that did Digimon Adventure Movie 2: Our War Game [Second part of the dub Digimon movie], since the plots are closer together. Rather, Summer Wars pretty much is Our War Game without the digimon title in it. Regardless, it's really good.

Yea, so I watched Summer Wars! It was amazing. I never expected a story could unfold with such limited settings, but it was very good; although the romance in it was kind of disappointing and a bit "unfinished" to say the least. Oh well, it was a great watch after weeks of boredom. (:

And does anybody have a list of the new Winter anime releases?
