Your first mahou shoujo series should have been Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha instead. Hell, that and A's (your mileage will vary regarding StrikerS) should be the only mahou shoujo series you should bother to watch.
 
Yeah, I was planning on marathoning it but it ended up being too painful. I'm very much looking forward for the film, everyone in here seems to love it.

All in all, pretty hit-or-miss. At least Stephanie Sheh's nowhere near as annoying as Aki Tokosaki. On the other hand, Cassandra Morris is way too passive to be Ritsu.

In any case, I'll definitely be buying the Blu-ray when it comes out.

I try to give dubs a fair shake, and, most of the time, I can watch them interchangeably.

Not so, here.
 
Something about hearing Japanese names is those toned american voices sounds weird to me. If i was going to buy a K-On! dvd it would certainly not be the dub. Tbh the only Eng dub voice that i like is Johnny Yong Bosch and that's only because he was a power ranger. ^_^

I'm looking forward to the redub by Bang Zoom though. |D

If the changes were actually major enough so that people could tell that a certain episode was the 5th of Endless Eight or something, I wouldn't have minded, but as it stands, one could rearrange the middle episodes of Endless Eight and no one would notice a thing. This and the fact that it took up over half of what was supposed to be more Haruhi is what makes E8 so intolerable by many.
 
I can't fully comment on E8 as i'm only half way through although it although it seems to me that with a bit of thought they could have made it a hell of a lot more interesting. Using the base idea of a seemingly endless, repeating summer they could have gone in so many directions. I mean take a look at Higurashi, 50 episodes over 2 seasons taking place over the same couple of weeks at the end summer. Do 95% of people complain about the repetition? No they don't. I'm not saying they should all go mad and start killing each other even if Haruhi getting crucified and Mikuru dong the Rena laugh would be anime gold but more mystery and development could have 2009 surpass the original.

Thinking about E8 objectively I think I can see where the director was coming from. It certainly does it's job of putting you in the characters, well Nagato's shoes very well. But then again, thinking as a regular person, what the hell.

Edit - Finished the arc and i'm feeling kinda let down. I figured it out during episode 5. :(

How quickly you forget that the DVDs have both English and Japanese audio. Nobody's forcing you to watch K-On! in English.

However, there are some anime that nobody in their right mind watches in the original Japanese. When you finish watching Cowboy Bebop, you WILL admire Steven Blum, Beau Billingslea, and Wendee Lee. When Shinichiro Watanabe himself says that the English version is superior to the Japanese, well...

Also, why did you watch Black Lagoon in Japanese? Everyone knows that the English dub is far superior. Hell, as 4chan once put it, "There is no sub form of Black Lagoon, it just does not exist. The dub was so superior that it caused the Japanese audio to simply stop existing."
 
The more recent DVD's will cost more, if you're not going to use the subs why pay more? also, where in my post did it seem like i was being forced to watch, i gave a comment on the most recent topic piece.

Can't say anything about Bebop, i'll probably end up watching the Japanese version to save redownloading.

Have you watched both versions? By checking out on Youtube the Black Lagoon dub is decent, due to loving Megumi Toyoguchi i have a feeling i'd prefer the original though.

Question to the public. After Pretty Cure are any of the other series especially decent or better than the others?
 
So, I downloaded an ep of motto to love ru, since it was missing on youtube, and I have to say, the quality is... still exactly the same either way.

Btw, how do you get rid of the green text in the top left, when you're watching an MKV file? Surely, that's not actually part of the video, cuz that's worse than the videos being split into parts. lol
