Japanese Anime (That is NOT subtitled)

Dubs always take priority. No exceptions. I don't watch much animé in general, though.

Seeing as most of what I watch uses pretty complicated and random language structures I've yet to learn, I tend to turn to subs. It's easy with some slice-of-life anime where the vocab is pretty commonly used, but for stuff with a deeper plot I definitely use subs to fully understand it. I only occasionally watch raws if the sub is yet to be released.

I like to watch subbed anime, but I really don't like using anime as a means of learning Japanese. ;x

I agree. It is not a good way to learn the language....
I only watch the English Dubbed... And only look to the Subbed OVA's only if I need to. ~And I can usually find them~

I Watched The Buu Saga in Japanese, No Subtitile of DBZ before it came to america, and DBGT in Japanese, I had this channel that showed Slayers, and DB.

I actually do that often. I did it with the Pretty Cure (PreCure) and Mermaid Melody series. I also did it with Higurashi (When They Cry), Re: Cutie Honey, Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu.
I'm debating which one to watch next though. XD

Well, also, if you're always depending on subs, it doesn't exactly give you a taste of trying to figure it out. Skills you will need if anyone here ever wants to master Japanese.

I think the only anime I ever watched that was RAW was Pokemon. Since it is a kids show, I can pick up what they are saying by what they are doing. So that isn't a problem. Now the other animes like Naruto, Bleach, Lovely Complex, Sailor Moon, and others...I need to have subtitles. I can't understand what they are saying without them. And besides I don't use subtitles to learn the language. I know to learn the language you have to take a class. There are a few words I can pick up, but that is all. Subtitles all the way.

The only anime I watch RAW is Pokemon, since you can see very easily what is happening and it rarely has something that would be confusing because you can't tell what they're saying, although it is annoying when there are episodes with lots of talking. Unless you know a bit of Japanese anyway, I think it would be extremly hard to learn Japanese just by watching RAW anime. Although, you can start to learn Japanese Pokemon and attack names, I suppose XD They're extremely vital parts of understanding the Japanese language XD I prefer subs, but it's quicker to get it raw

I don't for the simple reason that I can't understand it. For that time I want to go learn Japanese, I'll buy a plane ticket and live there for a while.

I do, but only when I have to. I watch pokemon and used to watch Shugo Chara episodes in japanese.
When I can, I prefer subtitles or dubs. I can pick up a few words and sometimes get a good idea of what the characters are talking about, but it's not like I could learn japanese just from watching anime.

Sometimes, it depends for me. Usually I WILL watch Chrono Crusade or Fruits Basket in Japanese with no english subtitles. Since my language arts teacher kinda tought me Japanese.

Still, It depends for me.

I personaly prefer dubs to subs, but if there is no dub for the anime or the dub is crappy, then I either dub it myself uncut, or just watch it with subs

I only watch the raws of any particular when I'm dying to know what happens next, and nobody has subbed it yet.

But for learning Japanese, I feel that subs are the better way, since you actually can match words with their meanings. But I can't personally read subs and consciously think about the Japanese audio, so that's one of the reasons why I get mkv format softsubs. The subs can be turned off, so one can watch it once subbed, then again without the English.

I've only watched one thing without subs (anime that's dubbed in Japanese). And... that's Pikachu's Vacation which has only a few lines of speech, mainly from Dexter. You can generally figure out what's happening without subs.

I don't know where to get raws of new Japanese Pokemon episodes. I need the clip show for D/P.

Even if it was on Youtube, I don't care (I have a Youtube downloader). If anyone has a link to that (download or youtube), I'll be so happy.
