I honestly have no idea what to say about this.

    The description of the video:
"2004: Aransas County Court-At-Law Judge William Adams took a belt to his own teenage daughter as punishment for using the internet to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time. She has had ataxic cerebral palsy from birth that led her to a passion for technology, which was strictly forbidden by her father's backwards views. The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge's wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day, and has sincerely apologized and repented for her part and for allowing such a thing, long before this video was even revealed to exist. Judge William Adams is not fit to be anywhere near the law system if he can't even exercise fit judgement as a parent himself. Do not allow this man to ever be re-elected again. His "judgement" is a giant farce. Signed, Hillary Adams, his daughter."

I can understand him being angry over her downloading illegally, even if I don't agree with the way he chose to discipline. That's not the case here. He's angry that she uses the internet? That's just absurd.

Excessive in enforcing his views. I can understand why he's concerned about allowing his daughter to acquire music and games illegally, though.

This number and information are being circulated ALL OVER the internet right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see this in the news later this week. Today, even.

You cant do that to a child, even if they aquired music or games illegally. This is just extreme and abusive.

Ouch! That's child abuse! There's no way he's getting elected again & I can tell it will be a revival of an old fight!

County of Aransas, 301 N. Live Oak, Rockport, Texas 78382
Aransas County Judge C. H. "Burt" Mills, Jr., 361-790-0100
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    November 2, 2011
ARANSAS COUNTY, TEXAS - Judge Burt Mills has today announced that Aransas County is aware of the video posted on YouTube regarding County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams, and the matter is now under review by the Police Department. Please refrain from communication with County offices or the Sheriff's Department on this matter until the review has been completed. Calls, emails, and faxes only create disruptions for other ongoing county business. The public's cooperation would be most appreciated.

*Uncited. So don't take this as 100% credible information haha

While it is frowned upon to download illegally, this is just way out of hand. This is just a gross display of violence and abuse, not to mention no one should ever beat their child, much less a disabled one. I agree with Hillary, this man is not worthy of holding his position at all and quite frankly, is an embarrassment to the United States Judicial System.

    Here is his response:
"She's mad because I've ordered her to bring the car back, in a nutshell, but yeah that's me, I lost my temper," Adams told us. "Her mother was there, she wasn't hurt.. it was a long time ago.. I really don't want to get into this right now because as you can see my life's been made very difficult over this child," Adams continued.

When asked if he felt he was going to face any suspension or discipline from the state over the video Adams responded, "In my mind I have not done anything wrong other than discipline my child when she was caught stealing. I did lose my temper, I've apologized.. it looks worse than it is."

^ That's the link to the video where he says that. The video doesn't play for some people, for whatever reason, though.

Wow...He should be locked up permanently.

People are going to pull me up for this, but I firstly want to say, yes, he went a over the top. But since when did disciplining your child become a crime? Like I said, yes, it was over the top, but if he did it only a small handful then that would be fine in my eyes.

Why do you think a good deal of teens are complete idiots and out of control? All goes back to, in a lot of the cases, no discipline in the home.

I ask you this, if that was you, would you do it again? I am pretty sure you wouldn't.

He didn't discipline her though, he was just a man on a power trip looking to beat someone.

"Disciplining" would be him giving her a talk over what she did, and how wrong it was and grounding her, taking away privileges etc.

There's a fine line between corporal punishment and abuse, imo. and Keep in mind the girl's had Cerebral Palsy since birth.

And that line is placed differently for different people.

My parents believed in spanking but they NEVER took the belt to me.

This is just wrong and unfair, yes what the daughter was doing was wrong but that did not deserve a belt for just using the internet.

It didn't deserve a belt in general.

I hope this man is not allowed to serve a second term and is removed immediately.

Just saying, but the fines for copyright infringement are a monetary fine up to 250,000$ and up to 5 (Might be more) years in prison.

Imo, getting beat with a belt sounds tame compared to that.

Downloading stuff illegally isn't copyright infringement though.

Also, by the way he acted towards her you'd think she beat/killed someone. Completely uncalled for. If I ever caught my kids d/l illegally I'd simply tell them it's wrong and ground them. Doing anything more would be excessive.

All I have to say is that description is biased.. since it was written by her and not him. (And stuff like "father's backward views" cause really.. is restricting a certain amount of net usage for your child actually that backwards? lmfao..) Albeit his behaviour is extreme.. :/
    Anyways...
Since I'm only getting one point of view on the matter.. I really don't think I have the right to say anything about his decision. He did take things too far- being physical definitely isn't the answer, but honestly I wish this article was neutral.. it'd be nice to know what actually happened.
