There has been a focus lately to reduce the importance of post counts and encourage thoughtful discussion, so it's almost difficult to consider what would happen.

I would say you'd see a big shift in the quality of threads and posts. We'd have a lot more "worthless" posts that don't add to the conversation, similar to how some of the old Other Chat threads went (i.e. "i like pie filler filler filler"). I would say that people would change their outlook on how they view the importance of certain members. Your top posters would seem a bit more impressive (if you can even use that word) when they're the only ones with benefits.

I think it would draw the ire of current supporters as they discover their money no longer mattered and their donations were literally just "for the good of PC", rather than "for the good of PC with benefits!". I can't see a day come when this idea would ever flower though, but it's certainly an interesting thought. :)

If we gave out supporterships based on post-count I would not be surprised if we see a huge increase in spam/shitposting/posts that contribute little to anything. Post count really shouldn't be a big deal. Quality over quantity, I say.

If we were to not do supporterships as a monetary thing, I think the better thing to do would be to give out supporterships as rewards for contributing to the site in some manner. Made a cool new forum style? Here's a supportership. Came up with a challenge that's as successful as the Monotype or Nuzlocke challenges? Have a supportership. Pitch a lot of good ideas for things in Community Feedback&Support? Enjoy your new supportership.

(i.e. "i like pie filler filler filler").

    Wait, what's wrong with that?

In all seriousness though, it would be chaos just like the other two said. There'd be so much spamming and so many poor quality posts it would become intolerable even for those of us that really love coming onto PC. Besides, you can't call people who post a lot like that with no reason "supporters" when they're doing the exact opposite of supporting the community and are actually bringing it down.

On the up side, Forum Games would see a huge increase in activity.
