    Anybody watching it? Thoughts?

I really like it so far; this is how slice of life should be done. A fair amount of humor; extremely likable characters; and while there is some sort of goal in the series, it still feels pretty episodic in nature. Three episodes in and I'm hooked; I'll definitely keep watching.

It was only a matter of time before a K-ON! thread appeared.

I'm not so sure about the slice-of-life claim, I'm still more opposed to K-ON! than I am with Lucky Star, seeing as how the former is more musically themed. Still, my fandom for the series has already been born, gone through puberty and is now reaching maternal age where I just want to keep watching to see how the show itself develops.

Also, Yui is the embodiment of Tsukasa.

I won't bother to defend my claim, but at the very least I really like the series so far. I might not use that particular analogy, though; I'm more interested in watching more of the character interaction than just seeing where things go.

I like it too. Simple, cute, funny and easy to watch. Plus because of the simple nature of the conversations, I feel like I can pick up and add to my knowledge of the language in co-operation with my studies at university.

The end sequence is particularly awesome as well.
Absolutely; the end sequence is amazing. Great signature, by the way.

It's Lucky Star meets Nodame Cantabile.

I like this series because it kinda gives me a different feeling of what I usually watch. I never really particularly likes music animes, as it mostly features boring things like classical music. BECK was a bit interesting, but without the humour part.

I love how they've done the opening and ending. Oh great, now the ending is stuck to my mind.

Is it really a good slice-of-life? The first and last one I watched was Lucky Star, and I loved it.
I might as well find a time, sit down, and watch it in a sitting.

EDIT: And I just found out, K-ON! is actually made by Kyoto Animation, a.k.a. KyoAni.
I pray for no shameless anime reference. PLEASE.

I thought I'd dislike this series at first. I never liked Lucky Star, and like everyone has already said, K-on! is pretty similar to Lucky Star.

But I'm actually enjoying it. I was never big on the slice-of-life thing, but this anime has it's cute and funny moments. I'm not completely in love with the series, but it's good enough to keep me interested for the whole episode. I just hope the club can start making cool music soon. I'll be looking forward to a good OST. D<

    Btw, Tsumugi is awesome~

I think I saw one reference in there, but it's definitely not as pervasive as in Lucky Star. Episode 3 just aired Thursday, I think, so you should be able to watch everything so far in an hour. I recommend Coalguys' subs; he might be a jerk, but the subs themselves are very well done.

Make sure you pay the series' copyright holder for owning rights, though. :3

I don't remember why I gave it a chance; normally I wouldn't touch something like this. I'm quite glad I did.

I prefer Yui over the rest. She kind of reminds me of myself, though I'm not quite as clumsy. Episode 3 especially; I'm supposed to be studying for finals next week at the moment.

Gosh I love that ending, can't wait for the full song. As for the anime I like it, although it can be a bit predictable at times :3.

    I. WAS. NOT. IMPRESSED. WITH. EPISODE. ONE.

But that's only because the .torrent I downloaded started letting the video and audio ~split~ from one another, so it got annoying just trying to keep up with who was saying what (audio came before video). But I love the show ~so far~. The animation annoys me sometimes, but the voice acting's very fun.

    MUGI-CHAN'S EYEBROWS. MUGI-CHAN'S EYEBROWS. O_____O

The whole episode reminded me of my entire senior year in high school. Although, instead of procrastinating by doing something creative like playing the guitar, I played online games. (>->)

Tsumugi is my favourite, simply because she's well mannered and not as radiant as Miyuki so she appears much more approachable. Plus she brings the sweets.

    MUGI-CHAN'S EYEBROWS. MUGI-CHAN'S EYEBROWS. O_____O

They play a very important role in the second episode though. Distinguished eyebrows are hot.

You got to love Mio? amirite?

I love that ending song so much. Good thing I got a copy of the song from somebody. :>

K-ON is basically what many people say about it. It's Lucky Star minus the otaku and with instruments.

Just caught up on episode 4 and 5. It was obvious but the intensity of Sawako's alter ego still surprised me.

The moe Mio scenes were cringing but adorable at the same time. Moe moe kyu~ (>///>)

Mio-chan is the definite embodiment of moe.

A little yuri at times when yui-chan thinks mio-chan is cute when she gets all embarrassed.

can't wait for the school festival episode. its going to ROCK!

Its cute! X3 I like it. : D Its hard to decide a favorite character though. >< They all have their cute special-ness.... : D

K-ON! has been awesome so far, because Yui is awesome.
It isn't revolutionary or anything, but it's great at what it's meant to be: fun.

KyoAni only did that with Lucky Star. Stop thinking they do it with every other series they animate, because it's not true.

Although my favorite in the series is Ritsu, everybody has to love Mio.

Anyway, I'm really quite a fan on K-ON!. Like everyone said, it's pretty much like Lucky Star with the instruments. The ending and opening = so much win. :D Ritsu's also simply my favorite because she plays drums. supa kawaii.

    I'm just worried.

And I just found a Jigoku Shojo reference in episode 1. :)

It's Lucky Star with instruments, honey. >:

But yeah, the anime is awesome. And the opening. And Ritsu. And Yui's guitar. And their teacher in Death Metal mode. And everything else that I can't be bothered to mention.
